Hi guys, so in this video I primarily focused on fighters and dedicated attackers or fighter bombers, but there are plenty of aircraft I neglected to mention, like the Dornier Alpha jet, Super Etendard, Hawk 200, etcetera. In an upcoming video we will discuss a restructuring of the Soviet jet tree just as we did for the US aviation tree a while back, where we'll talk about the SU-15, Yak-41, Yak-130, etc., and another dedicated to the idea of rank 6 bombers.
There are also a whole butt load of light attack/trainer jets that could be added, similar to the Saab 105's, in fact options for every single nation including multiple domestically designed/built Chinese aircraft, which are always great to see, so this one might also be worth its own video later on. Either way, this area of the game makes me incredibly excited, so I hope you lads enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed making it

I really want to see scout planes, I genuinely think they could make a strong role for an aircraft or heli that's sole purpose is to scout the battlefield. A good scout can turn the tide in a battle.

Another rank 7 aircraft that could be added would be the Mitsubishi F-2, which is a Japanese derivative of the F-16.

@@theScottishKoala see, i think 390K RP should only be the requirement for the end of line vehicles, mostly because in my current predicement, I need to research both of the CL13's and the F86K before I can start researching the F104 (because I really want that speedy lawn dart) but to get through that whole ordeal I need to grind well over 1 million RP, which for a non premium player is hell beyond reason. I'm hoping that by the time I finish grinding the MiG21MF (which I'm grinding currently and probably won't be done grinding for the next few months deffinitely), the next patch will be out which will (doubtfully) drop a bunch of research costs considerably (one can dream, as much as I want that to happen, I don't think it will :/)

Im curious what will happen when we reach modern day, and most aircraft and tank gaps are filled up. How are they gonna keep players interested then
@@mart4144 yeah that’s gonna be a problem, pretty soon we will have to wait for the vehicles to come irl before they are in war thunder and since they are gonna be top secret they won’t be modeled properly. When that happens war thunder will be better than ever because they can actually fix stuff instead of adding new things and then the grind can finally come to an end.

I could see them doing something similar to f14a as they did with the f4’s where they initial come in without the aim54, but get them in a later patch. I would be pretty disappointed if they don’t give the A it’s phoenix’s.
Problem is that makes it too big of a step up from the F-4J, and given how compressed br's are, it would only be one or MAYBE two spots above it... so we don't want that
@@theScottishKoala forgoing the fact that it was a big leap above the f4 in real life and looking at game balance and how it’s introduced. I could see the f14a coming in and it being given just aim-7’s and aim-9’s initially. A couple patches down the line they introduce newer jets along with fox3 missiles. The f14a then receives its aim-54’s. Since at that point newer aircraft have been implemented you would have the f14a pulled into up tiers more often than not. If it’s 2 steps above the f4 it should undoubtedly the better plane, not unkillable by the lower be plane, but an uphill fight for sure.
@@rampageTG I mean it can out turn a MiG-21bis like it's nothing, has a much better radar, and is a lot faster... it's already going to be an uphill battle, forgetting AIM-54's. Giving the F-14D AIM-54's means we can have both variants at two different br's, which helps with decompression, and means that the earlier variant, if it's 11.3, isn't going to be using Phoenix's to fight against F-1's!
the problem I can see with the phoenix is the maps are not big enough. MAX range is 80nm. Now thats with the fighter high and fast, but still its a long range. Also the f14 can launch 6 at once at 6 different targets, guide them in, and once within about 10nm they go active on their own. That is like a 60 second or more flight time for the missile. We would need MUCH bigger maps for ARB

@@nef5912 It's also $80, and as much as I love the Hornet, I'm not paying that much for it. I will, however, probably get the su-33, since it provides a reasonably good naval fighter experience at only a fraction of the cost. I'll probably have to play it on mouse and keyboard though, because i'm not paying $150 for a HOTAS. And I'll still play war thunder, because it provides a good balance of being easier to play than dcs, but not completely unrealistic like ace combat.
I think we all know there will be premium versions of the A-10 and F-14
I would love to see more bombers. Even though there utterly useless within the games current meta I enjoy flying them.

No, bombers, and players who fly bombers are a detriment to their teams, Especially in air RB, unless they skew the gamemodes to be more accomodating to bombers to win the game they should not be added under any circumstance.
I hope to see some changes to the gamemode so that bombers can be viable.
A bare minimum fix would be to guarantee a certain number of fighters on each team, then let a few bombers and attackers be extra players on the team. However, that doesn't really fix their viability, that only makes bombers not actively detrimental to team comp. What would be much preferable are complete reworks of air RB to make it more like EC or something. Even having it be more of a tactical air battle like in IL-2 would be nice; that may make strategic bombers still a little less than useful, but it would still be a *lot* better than how it is right now.

I would like to see the F4E reach its full potential. Before the F4E was retried it could cary late 1990's sparrows, all aspect AIM9's, mavericks, AIM120, and radar capable of look down shoot down capabilities.

there was a modernized version of the Phantom that was dedicated for supressing SAMs in the op. Desert Storm. I believe it was the H variant, also called wild Wiesel. I believe it was the most advanced variant produced for the US service
F-4Gs had their gun removed. What you'd be looking for is an F-4E Block 53 which Gaijin is going to give us. I mean the F-4 has the LAU-88 pylons in the files they're just redoing the leading edge slat animation. Possibly why the German F-4F isn't here yet either because it also has the same slats.
Technically if we have CCIP it should be the AN/APQ-120 with a HUD, air to air lead indicator, and look down shoot down.
If I see any Rank 7 jets soon I'll probably never play them knowing that it will take about 2 more years until it's actually polished.
Meanwhile for me I just won't be able to get to most of them because there's so much fucking grinding required (:

I really hope they add more of the FJ series in this game (FJ-2, FJ-3, etc.) or maybe even a really old jet like the FH Phantom (although it probably won't be added because we already have the banshee, but it would be cool to see).
FH Phantom would make a good 7.0 to lead INTO the Banshee actually, I'm surprised we haven't seen it yet
@@theScottishKoala I still maintain that the naval fighters need to be split into two lines. I'm not entirely sure about which fighters should go where at the lower ranks, but at rank 6 there should be one line that tops out with the naval Phantoms and the other with the Crusaders. At rank 7, the naval Phantoms would lead to the F-14s, and the Crusaders to the F/A-18s.
The FJs, FH, and F4D would need to be added in ranks 5 and 6, while the F5D and F2Y would be premiums or event rewards. The XF8U-3 would probably also be a premium or squadron vehicle, but possibly put it in the tech tree if Gaijin needs something more capable to bridge the gap between the F-8E and F/A-18A.
@@RedXlV That makes no sense, there's absolutely no need for the naval line to be split - there's plenty of room for all the fighters necessary to be added without creating overcrowding like we had in the USAAF line, and why would the Crusader lead into the Hornet and the Phantom into the Tomcat, when it was the Tomcat that finally replaced the Crusader..?
No need for the F5D, unless it comes as a squad/event/battle pass vehicle, no need for the XF8U-3 at all, nor the F2Y, which didn't even carry any weapons so I don't know why we're even considering it...
In the lower ranks there aren't enough models for two lines (we've already got gaps to fill), and in the higher there is no call for a split. Add the F-8E in foldered with the F8U-2 at 10.3, add the F-4J above it at 10.7... then add in the F-14A, F-14B/D, and F/A-18C in rank 7... from 11.3 to 12.0, done.

The Later AV8B's also had JDAM's aswell as a built in semi guided munitions computer which used the harriers DMT to calculate when to drop certain bombs while still being in a CCIP mode its pretty funky and great for cluster munitions

I agree with most of these, however, I think that under no circumstance the su-33 should be added if you are not going to give France and Britain their typhoon and Rafale, and Sweden their Gripen. i also think the f-18 will be a downright downgrade to the F-16's and F-15's if gaijin doesnt step up EWAR capabilities of aircraft.
Depends more on armament - with 10 AAM's including AMRAAM's and AIM-9M's, the Hornet would be a big upgrade. Add to that its huge AoA, and it'd be very enjoyable, although maybe slightly inferior to the F-15C or Su-33
Hornet is an excellent dogfighter, I think it'll do just fine.

Top tier air is currently the only gamemode I can stand to play in War Thunder at the moment, despite all its problems. I am quite excited for this next generation of aircraft.

@@jiaruiyan870 I meant top tier AIR in particular, top tier tanks are garbage atm imo lol. Lower tier planes and tanks both feel a bit slow and boring to me at this point, and the higher tiers that aren't top suffer the most from compression.

@@MootietheCow DCS is a completely diffrent game to wt that not everyone has the stuff to play (flight stick etc.), and it also focuses more on the simulator aspect so it's harder to get used to and actually be good at than something like wt, and the gameplay is also very different.
I want World War One sub trees more than anything, but this sounds interesting.

I don’t think they will add ww1 planes for two reasons not a lot of people are interested in them compared to Morden jets and the other reason is that the grind will just increase
Adding lower tiers, like ww1 planes wouldnt do any harm at all. The PO 2 is slower than late ww1 planes (which is why they removed it), but adding lower BR's for ww1 planes literally would do 0 harm, and add a newish experience in the game.
I think we can all guess that the F-14 will be coming as a premium and tech tree varient near the time of Top Gun Mavericks release

Honestly, I think that an update dedicated to overhauling aircraft VFX similar to hot tracks would be amazing. Seeing wing vapor on jets would be really cool.

Some possible corrections for the F/A-18, only the upgraded A+ and C models can carry the AIM-120 as far as I'm aware and the max load of them is actually 10 (2 fuselage and 4 double mounts on the wing pylons plus two AIM-9) the early A and C models could only carry the AIM-7 not sure which variant though. The 10 AMRAAM loadout would kill the jets performance though so its not a "Realistic" one to put on the jet though I've seen it done...

The AIM-54 Phoenix is not actually a “fire and forget” missile unless it’s launched in certain conditions. The F-14 actually need to head towards the target until the missile goes active. If the F-14 turns away before the missile is active, the missile is essentially dead in the air.
Quick thing on the Crusader: France actually used F-8Js, re-designated as F-8E (FN)s
6:54 you're dead wrong about that, friend. The F-14 has well over 2x the top speed of the A-6 Intruder. They had no trouble keeping up. At all.
Okay, first of all the F-14's top speed on the deck is more like 1.4x the Intruder's AT BEST, not 2x, and secondly, I'm specifically talking about cruising here, so no afterburners. The F-14 can't supercruise on the deck, so short of flicking the cans on the A-6's were actually outspeeding them on full throttle
FYI - The A6 could only get to 640mph so a Tomcat could easily keep up. Not sure where that nugget of info came from...?
Tomcats could easily keep up, but not cruising - the Tomcat can’t supercruise at low altitude, at least not when carrying Phoenix’s. The A-6 can’t either, but it’s cruising speed is faster than the Tomcat’s
They couldn’t keep that air speed at lower altitude while cruising just like Koala said :)
1. Larger maps. 2. Air to air refueling by bombers or other air refueling tankers. 3. More planes and an upgrade for anti cheat for the game.
The A10 is gonna be so difficult to balance, because its armament is so much better than its performance. It can't go too low because its weaponry is too strong but too high and it will get swatted by SPAA instantly
First game I remember playing was F-15 Strike Eagle III, and it's been my favorite plane ever since. If it ever comes to War Thunder I would flip a lid.
TBH it should be just sidewinders and sparrows, for now, amraams (and pretty much every fox 3) need a WHOLE ton of map space to compensate in. F-15's and everything that carried Fox 3's should have a dedicated Br to Fox 3's, lets say you have a F-15 but without the Aim 120 modification, it shouldnt put you in a game against fox 3's, but if you decide to equip a fox 3, it would put you at a +1.3 Br higher.
You're not quite giving the R-73 the credit it deserves, the thing is terrifying even compared to an AIM-9M. It has bordering on SRAAM levels of maneuverability, and the discovery of just how effective this missile was in the 90s was a major driving force in the development of the AIM-9X
True, depends on variant of the R-73 though, and we're also not likely to model helmet mounted sights for them, which is going to limit their capability and put them more in line with 9M's

Russia never used the MiG-21-93, they were strictly upgraded leftover Bis variants for export only, they had a surplus of them from the Soviet Union. So they modernised them with advanced avionics capable of having BVR missiles, so maybe it would be too advanced; albeit they just wouldnt give it BVR missiles.
F-117 wouldn't be fun to fly, slow, no air to air ability and a small payload.
The f117 might be pretty useless
AGM-45 shrike as well as the Martels did not have a broadband seeker and had to be tuned for a specific target on the ground before the sortie launched. So if they implement it in game we would have to set the target in the loadout screen prior to engagements. It would make more sense to add the AGM-78B Standard ARM as this was the first ARM with a broadband seeker.
Love the vid, just some detail: the F/A-18 Hornet did not replace the F-14. It replaced the A-7E and A-6E. The F-14 was replaced by the F/A-18E,F Super Hornet.

German Air is the equivalent of American Ground five or six Major Updates ago. Really hoping we get that F4 soon.

Gaijin need to make the Mig 21 flight model realistic as it's supposed to be the slowest turning rank 6 jet in game based on IRL and it's stat card that is obviously lying
None of the RB flight models are "Realistic" bud - try the MiG-21 and other jets in sim, where you don't have a flying-point aiming model. Much more realistic there. As far as MiG-21's performance in RB, it's about as realistic as all the other jets are
@@theScottishKoala Not only the Mig 21 have a "strangely" buffed MER being a delta wing but it out turns F-4, F1, Mirage III, only the Draaken have a slightly better turn rate when it's stat card still lies about it. Gaijin deliberately buff Russian vehicles, not ww2 ones unlike many thinks but Top tier, Russia is the only nation in game having tanks from 2016 but all down to 10.3 instead of 10.7, why UA-camrs don't talk about this and even defend it.

They could introduce dynamic BRs in combination with a max up and downtier 0.7. Bascally a Plane should be able to go up or down in BR in 0.1 Steps up to 0.3. Basically if the He 162 Underperforms( which it does) it be automatically lowered to 6.2, 6.1 and eventually 6.0. And if the Mig 19 overperfirms if will go up. This is very dynamic and Planes nobody would have flown suddenly become interesting and the Top Dogs might switch because of BR. The Su 17 would slowly but surely move up etc. This would be an interesting concept because of all the Variety it adds. BRs would be constantly changing and you would have new planes to discover. And if the Meta changes the planes would automatically be moved down because fewer people play them and they do worse in them. Of course this system can be abused but in that Case Gaijin would need to step in. The Game would basically auto balance itself.

Marine Corps Phantoms did, not sure about the Navy's models, but if they did it was most likely for testing purposes and not actually something they ever served with

I think the French would actually be best off with the Mirage 4000 as a top tier jet. Only one was built, but afaik it was fully armed. It carries a ton of missiles and would probably bring the French more up to par with other top 4th generation fighters than the Mirage 2000 already would. Would love to hear your opinion on this aircraft though!

I honestly dont see any need to have gen 4 premiums. Give a premium F-4 and mig 23 but thats it. Having any premium after gen 3 will harm Gaijin's income and the player base as it doesn't incentivize people to grind the tech tree as 80% of the player base is trying to get to top tier, not to mention that most people right now are waiting for gen 4 jets like the F-14 and su-27. Releasing a premium gen 4 aircraft will kill the game as it only takes maybe 120$ to get to top tier and we all know after gen 4, there is nothing else to add as gen 5 is still very new. I just hope before they do that, they will add air rb ec as that is the only way to have people to keep playing the game religiously, kinda like dcs.

RB EC could work if it were given some much-needed fixing. The one time RB EC jets was tested... it didn't go well

@@Reddragondrinks Well for one it devolved into runway camping pretty much instantly. This is already a problem in jet sim, but in RB, where you have markers, it was way too easy to abuse. Most players never got the chance to actually test out the mode as a whole, which is part of the reason why so many people have such a "rose-tinted glasses" view of it now, as if it would be air RB's saving grace or something
@@theScottishKoala I feel like it could be a very big improvement over Air rb as a whole, at least on paper. It could give stuff like, in your video, the intruder somewhat more of a varied role instead of going always for the x amount of sidewinders and thats it. We could actually see bombers in the Tu series and B series of aircrafts. Stuff like shrikes and agms have more of a purpose outside of Tank rb. Stuff like the harrier gen 2 would be somewhat more competitive as they can carry Aim-9Ls but cant even go supersonic, meaning they could carry more of a varied loadout and have more of a impact in the match then the rb system we have right now. Lastly it could be the introduction of Ai sams like the Sa-2 and Sa-3.
P.s I am in favor of no markers as it gives radar more of a function especially but I dont mind Air Rb ec having markers. Also forgot to mention that with one mistake you are basically dead for the match.
I 100% support War Thunder going modern. Having a full spectrum from Early WWII to modern day is awesome.
The key word they’ve use when using aircraft afrer WW2 is “Cold War” so I’m sure that maybe they’ll only do some aircraft where it isn’t going to be brand new modern age like the F-35 or Su-57.
It’d be along the lines of Su-27, F-16, F-14, MiG-23/28, (possibly) A10, (possibly) Su-25, Eurofighter, Rafale, F-15, Su-34, F-18, Tornado, J8I and J8II, and the Viggen
That wouldn't work for one reason American jets will out-tech literally everything the su-57 is not comparable to either the F-22 or f-35 it's stealth systems are terrible only really matching a clean super hornet it's avionics are mediocre compared to most 5th gen and 4.5 gens platforms and it's missiles are awful in comparison to what the US is rocking (the r77 is currently in low stock forcing most Russian aircraft to rely on the aging r27)

@@theScottishKoala how so you're going to make the argument that the su-57 is on the level of the F-22 and f-35 should I start bringing up criticisms like it's lack of serpentine inlets the fact that up until recently it couldn't even store a missile in its weapons Bay or the fact that Russian technology when it comes to radar tends to be worse than Western tech they still use PESA radars for their older 4.5 gens that kind of technology went out of style in the 90s

The JA 37 Viggen was more than a fighter update of the AJ. It can be debated how close they are related and it was planned as a separate craft as the project started.
Hey Koala, how do you feel about current SAMs (i mean dedicated SAMs not like the ADATS or the Tunguska) being able to fire their radar guided missiles without requiring a radar lock? if sead weapons ever do come the way the SAMs are currently implemented they wont do much at all. The sams can just track you with their mouse without hard pinging your RWR (meaning no ARM launch).
The F-4E's already 10.7 while modern MBTs like M1A2 and Leopard 2A6 also sit at 10.7. I wonder how gaijin is going to adjust the BR once aircrafts like F-15/16, etc are introduced.

my proposal has always been combined arms enduring confrontation with ground rb rules. meaning the battles are won or lost by the ground forces while strike planes provide support and fighters keep the sky clear of enemy planes. i have a much more detailed idea on how it would work but it will take all day to write it. a quick overview is:
64vs64+ in huge maps. several ground or sea battles around the map, some ai targets and 2 airfields on opposite corners of the map where ALL planes have to take off from - no air spawn.

Finally, people are talking about map sizes being to small. Add in there Whiterock Fortress, Frozen Pass, small Saini (hell large Saini), Advance to the Rhine, Cargo Port, Sweden, Serversk. If Gaijin keeps making maps like this, they need to allow us to ban more maps.

@@sylamy7457 I would disagree the F105 is hugely iconic. However in terms of significance no they won't generate the hype an F-16 and MiG 29 will, the trade off is that the game could easily accommodate the F105 and other jets mentioned an F-16 or MiG 29 breaks the game.

The Aim-54 Phoenix has to be guided by the tomcat until it is 10nm from its target then it goes active and starts tracking there is also an option to fire it active off the rail in a boresight mode if your target is within 10nm's at least that's how its modeled in DCS and works and the only reason I know that.
Yeah they’re not active immediately, neither are AMRAAMs or R-77’s, but given the radar limits of these aircraft you can turn almost fully away while still maintaining a lock, and as soon as it goes active, you can fully turn cold

I can’t wait but I really hope they do the same thing they did to tanks when adding rank 7 which is decreasing the Rp and SL cost for rank 6 because that really needs to happen soon. Also for tanks if decompression happens I’m sure that I the top tanks such as the 2a6 will go to 12.0 and it could get its reload rate back. Lower be changes would be early Abrams getting 10.3 with at most t80Bs and 2a4s, m1a1 would be 11.3, m1a2 11.7, t90, t80u, 11.7, they could add later t90 variants and also tanks with some more recent upgrades like m1a2 SEPv3, so on so on and folderize any tank variants.
