I really enjoyed this performance!! They added a really great jazz feel to it! The singer was cool as well!! Also, the irony of guys from the far East playing a new arrangement of an ELP song about an eastern concept like reincarnation is fabulous!! I just loved it!
Man this is making my day here! The bass is killing it. And that sax adds so much here! The drum grooves feel too classic and full at times, but the other points is how really you overcome originals.
Agreed. I've heard dozens of covers of this ELP masterpiece, and by far this one is the most creative and enjoyable. Bravo! Illustrates perfectly the power of music to bridge all language barriers.
Superalitive reimagining of Tarkus --- love the saxes addition (gives it a Van der Graaf sound at times albeit with your better sax playing).. Great soloing by everyone. Thanks for postng.

Very cool, highly enjoyable and mesmerizing. Bravissimo! Quite authentic, yet who says the solo parts need to be replayed note for note, too? Loved the addition of the saxes and the added detail on bass. Slapping had yet to make its way into rock and jazz in the days of Tarkus. Most fascinating of all is the impression such a masterwork from one's own music culture makes when interpreted by members from a music culture of equal standing the other side of the planet.
This is all I ever liked by ELP, really. And what a take. It seems the best takes of this are concocted here in Japan. Hey how is that guitarist adding keyboard voices?? Apart from being so good 😂

Thanks to UA-cam, I've listen to several covers of the musical composition of Tarkus. This cover version has a dynamic the others lacked. All of the musicians who took part in this reproduction were flawless in their performance. I only wish that my father and high school music teacher could hear this version as both were dubious to sit and listen to the original 20 minute song by a long haired rock band suggested by a long haired kid (me). This was back in 1976 during my junior year in high school, when after lunch I would skip all my afternoon classes and hang out in the music department teaching myself how to play piano on the school's Steinway grand piano, and hone my skills with guitar. The song I decided to teach myself how to play piano on was indeed Tarckus. No little twinkle twinkle little star, or any other little pattycake song, I decide to take on something as complicated as that composition. After one year I pretty much had all the parts of the song figured out. So during my sophomore year in high school, I tried to convince my music teacher to include the performance of Tarkus into the school's annual student concert with me playing the piano hearts and guitar parts at the end for the suit BATTLEFIELD. Even though my music teacher was impressed with the musical composition of that song, he felt it was too complicated and would had taken too long for the students to learn. Plus this song would've had been broken down into parts for the musical score would've had to been transcribed for the students to be able to learn and play it. Can't say I didn't try. Tarkus will stand the test of time as it is a masterful musical composition crafted originally by three long-haired musicians who had decided to shake up the genre of rock 'n' roll, as once stated by the late Greg Lake, and I paraphrase, "We wanted to play something different than just rock 'n' roll".
Incredible! I would have loved to hear ELP’s impressions of this great interpretation. My first concert was ELP a long time ago at the Long Beach Arena in 1979. What a show!

一度コメさせて頂きましたが、何度も視聴させて頂いて書き足らなかった感の自分自身があり追記させて頂きます。
一回目の視聴の時にボーカルとベースはイギリス人などの欧州人だとばかりに思っていました。そのカッコよさに驚きでした。
チャンネル主 (バンマス？) と知った時に驚き、マーカスやウィル、青木さんばりのベース・・とにかく曲アレンジが素晴らしい 🤗
JAZZ系チューニングのハイトーンのドラム。カールに聴いて欲しいです。もしかしたら若い頃の彼が目指したものがここにあったかも・・🙄
ピンクフロイドのサックスはやはりどこかロックっぽいですが、この曲でのサックスはJAZZを感じます。ソプラノを交えたアレンジに脱帽です。
そしてギター、FUSION系を意識したと思われるフレーズはそのテクニックに驚くばかりです。🤗
私の感想の最後・・キーボード。とにかくたまげました。曲を理解した何気ないキースのアレンジは今風でとても心地良いものでした。
聴いていて「KENSO」を連想させる感覚が私にはありました。偉そうな私感で長くなりました。最後に一つ・・「GONG」・・誰？・・😲
ありがとうございます。キーボードを弾いているものです。キーボードに言及していただいて感謝です。この曲は今を去ること45年ほど前の高校時代に一度やっているのですが、その頃は勢いだけで全く弾けておらずこれは一種のリベンジのつもりで望みました。また音色についてはWorks以降の雰囲気も出しつつ原典のここは外せないというところを残しつつ自分なりに考えてやりました。冒頭のオスティナートはやっぱりパーカッシブさが必要なので、アタックブラス系の音にさらにアタックをつけるためにピアノ音色をレイヤーしてあります。ホンモノのMoogは買えないので、Behringerのクローンを使ってますが結構再現度高いと思います。それにしてもこんな凄まじい曲を一から作ったキースに驚愕です。

当時、大好きだった EL&P。そしてヤングミュージックショーで見た EL&P。少年の心を掴むには十分かつ完璧でした。
ドラムをやっていた私ですが「賢人」を弾いてみたくてグレコから発売された J200 のモデルを買ってコピーした高校生時代もありました。
今聴いても・・というか聴けば聴くほど素晴らしい曲と編曲が多くて、EL&P の偉大さが心に響きます。
そう言えば彼らは「パーカッシブ」というのに拘っていたのを、当時のインタビューなどで言っておられました。
コメ主さんのキーボードを筆頭にこちらのタルカスのアレンジと演奏。とても素晴らしくて大好き・・内緒で車の中で大音量で聴かせて頂いております。
「KENSO」は自費出版レコードでイタリアでの人気に火が着きました。こちらのチャンネル、皆さんの演奏とアレンジ。大好きです！

キースはジミーペイジ、ダイス・バン・レアと並んで最高のミュージシャンだと思います。日本公演を前に本当にショックでした。キース公認でムーグも自在に操る天才の盲目少女Rachel Flowersの動画をよく見ますが、キースの追悼公演では大泣きしてましたね。残念です。私にとっての最高傑作は最もヨーロッパの哀愁感が漂うトリロジーです。

40年以上前にKO大学の学生アマバンドがトリオで完コピ演奏していて、すごかったですよ。クリムゾンも演ってたなあ。
当時ムーグもメロトロンも持っていて、流石お金持ち学生。
ELPってコアな音楽ファンからは、ちょっとバカにされているような感じもあったけど、年月を経てタルカスは交響曲にもなったし、
色褪せず人の心を惹きつけときめかすマジックを持っていますね。
私（キーボード担当）も件のKO大学出身でまさに40年前に学生でしたが、、誰だろう？？音楽サークルだけで20とかあったので、わからないですが。でもすごく気になります。プログレだったらユーロロック研究会か、ポップス研究会か。。それともサークルに入ってない人たちか。。友達になりたいです。
