I'm totally amazed at these mountain bike channels, watching older videos of the riders working up their technique in order to clean tough trail obstacles, and then evolving over time into expert jumpers! Really inspiring, though at age 50, I think my dreams of conquering jumps are well behind me.
What is the product/surface used on the berms? I suspect it’s to provide grip on those dusty corners, do you know if they work well were drainage is an issue and mud is building?
In Western North Carolina there is Sugar Mountain, Beech Mountain and Rocky Knob MTB Park all within about 40 Min of each other! I discovered this while visiting the folks this summer. WNC is up and coming in the MTB world
How were the mid week lines? Also - check out cush core. Will help with that tire squirm amongst other improvements. If you don’t want too much weight - cushcore xc works as well! Very noticeable ride improvement
Next time you’re in the San Clemente area there’s a place called mansions where it just brings out the inner kid in you. I’ve been there the last two days and even though it’s not a trail system it’s so much fun and I think you’d really like it seeing your skater background
Nice work on Hot Donna! I'm hoping to muster the courage for 650b this year. I definitely agree that having three parks is legit, and I love how they all offer something a little different. Great vid as always!
Great bike park, great footage, I was just there Las weekend, rode 4 different trails all well made! This is by far one of the best parks in California!
That was a great video,,, So Fast.. I have been doing 650B, but Hot Donna is on my bucket list. I am still intimidated by that jump.. Where did you buy your big balls, because I need to get some.
Great Video!! I can't wait to get back up there and push my own limits. I spent 3 days riding with the kids and having a blast and filming. You got me all fired up to push it.
I started with BMX and recently picked up mountain biking, the skills certainly transfer and overall mountain biking is more forgiving. Both are tons of fun!
@@dylanbikesthings3633 yes the skills really do transfer over I just took me a little to get use to the full suspension since I'm so use to bmx where we have no suspension at all aha
Tony, which destinations do you think that I should go before going to Big Bear, Ive already done SkyPark, any highly recommended places that I could do then I could get comfortable with hitting jumps the size of Big Bear. Thanks man you are riding really well.
Thanks Alec - I learned on Skypark's jumpline and then took it to Big Bear. It's ok to case the big jumps at first and just work your way up with more speed when you get use to it.
Nice. It's cool to see the same runs I snowboard on a MBT. I just got my first bike 4 month's ago and my Wal-Mart (kent v2100 genesis 26") bike is destroyed. I'm spending just as much time fixing it as i am riding it. I'm ready to step up to a proper enduro bike since I weigh 215 lbs fully loaded.
@@TheOutsiderMTB Thank for the advice. I grabed a Fuji Auric 1.5 with 27.5 wheels,, hydraulic brakes, with front (suntour axon) and rear gas shocks (rock shocks). Got it for $1800.... Now im getting almost the same adrenaline rush that I get snowboarding. Worth every penny!
I guess ones opinion on the three areas being legit bike parks is just that. Ones opinion. But my perspective is a bit skewed by Whistler being my first experience with a bike park and the one area I have spent more time at then any other. It is nice having those three areas near by but I hope they can make significant investment in what they offer.
I’ve been to Whistler as well. I don’t think it’s fair to compare other parks to it though. Haha - it’s pretty much the best park in the world. I’m happy to have these three as local to me.
Honest no b.s. opinion needed.... do you think hardtails can handle these types of trails and abuse? Love your f.s. but my lady is also wanting to get into the sport and 2 3k+ bikes at once ain't happening.
I've taken my Trek Stache (29+ bike with a 120 mm fork) up there, and it made it on most of the trails. Stay off of Miracle Mile. That said, I definitely felt it at the end of the day, and I won't be bringing my hardtail back. It's doable, but far from ideal. If you do the trails on the back side of the mountain, the hardtail is super fun. I hope that helps!
The Outsider MTB Yup. Directly across from Snow Valley. Full XC, no lifts. Hosts a ton of races. Would be my fav park but for a pretty tough climb to the top.
Great intro Tony........I wasn't aware that you are a legit swinger.....! Learn something every day!!!!!!!!
Ha! I had to rethink that one - I was like is there something I don't know about the lodge? hahah
You win!!
Lmao the more you know
You are crushing those jumps bud!
Thanks man! Fun times up there this week.

Right on! Thanks for sharing that - love the feeling of progressing and appreciate you noticing that.
Great job buddy! Glad you got to ride with Adam, such a great dude and rider.
Agreed!! Adam shreds hard - looking forward to getting some more trail time with you Brenton. Thanks bud!
Nice meeting you up there Tony. Awesome time!!!
Same here! Good stuff Mike!
@@TheOutsiderMTB yeah it was nice meeting you. We were the guys with the wives that want more videos of Henry! Haha!
Nice! 🤣
Rebecca, Doug and the kids go up there a couple times a year in all seasons. Your rides show some the beauty. Thanks.
It’s a beautiful place! Thanks!
Heck yes! So rad. I spend so much time there in the winter I love seeing the contrast in Summer. I gotta get to SS.
Yes you do!
yooo that thrasher sticker though, representin
You know it!
What is the product/surface used on the berms? I suspect it’s to provide grip on those dusty corners, do you know if they work well were drainage is an issue and mud is building?
They are cement blocks - they help stabilize the berms and don't fade away like dirt does in loose conditions.
I'm definitely going to plan a weekend at oak knoll lodge, thx
Tell them I sent you - get the hook up. 😉

Awesome to know!
Nice to see someone clearing these jumps. Unlike other snow summit UA-camrs
Haha - I'll take it Brett!
That Trek looks fuego 🔥
Woohoo!
No cap

I went when only one chair was open so I'm thinking much better this week. Thanks!
Awesome videos as always! Nice riding and no crashes makes for a perfect session🤙🏼
Thanks Luis - I agree!
Thrasher sticker over the scratch!! Hell yeah 🤘 nice bandage!!
Oh yeah!
Lol to Pip with the doggles! Haha
Pip snuck in there!
Tony such a great vid!!! I must get up there. Literally, someone hands you your bike and away you go!! Something squishy - CLASSIC!!!
That's right - thanks Robert!
The Outsider MTB - Tony are you running the Aggressor as your rear tire now? If so, thoughts? Thx!!
Can you check out the parks in Tahoe? I would love to see a review on those!
Next time I'm on the road you got it bud.
I donated a tire to the rock pile on party wave last friday. It was a long walk down.
Damn - hopefully the rocks appreciated that!
Rip, part of the game

Excellent Video. Piper cameo was cute. Hoping to hit Big Bear soon and it's great how your getting the Mountain Bike scene a boost.
Have fun! Thanks Tony!
Cool! Raced three at those places for many years!
Great video Tony! The teaser was good
but this one is even better.
Thanks Cong!
What compression and sag do you run on your fork it looks like it feels dialed?
I started off by weight and then adjusted. Thanks!!
Great vid Tony! I still need to hit up Snow Summit. This vid got me motivated. 💯🔥🤙🏻
You should!
Question..... what do u think a out cutting handlebars down
I cut mine to 780 recently. So yup.
I have never hit snow summit in the summer. Used to go snowboarding up there back in the day.
Great park with some super fun trails bud.

Haha thanks Steve - it feels the same as 650 actually. Just a bit of a light lift off!

haha saw you up there, such a small world! good riding and maybe run into you next time
For sure! See you out there Taj!
That would have been one massive pine cone hahaha. EPIC trails frig man
Right? haha thanks Cole!
Well the skateparks in my local area still aren't open for bmx but I'm glad to see these bike parks are grabbing my mtb and going very soon ^_^
