Probably one of the most useful tutorials I have watched till now including the Double FM one , it really came in handy reviewing these Serum techniques. Btw your new logo and intro looks dope. cheers !!!
you should try to make some code pandorum type basses, like his machine gun basses and stuff. Or Alon Mor type bases, like in his song Demons or Ocelot.
Really helpful video, full of tips. Thx ! Btw Shane I begg you, could you ever consider making Jump up D&B Bass design (Hedex inspired for eg) ? Would be hugely helpful
Hey Shane! Thank you for the awesome tutorial. Direct, fun and easy to follow. I’m a beginner in the world of serum, Im sort of in my “first date” period with it ,hehe I was wondering if you would or if you already have made a tutorial for a deep dark wub? I mean the kind of wub like in the track of Boody-Dead stylus or Truth... Im in love with that kind of sound but so far I cannot figure how to make it. In any case, thanks! 🤜🏼🤛🏼
Great tut man, love the delay idea especially, I don't know if you still take suggestions, but if you were to make the Engine - Hotsause (REK U Remix) bass from the first drop, that would be pretty dankle spankle
The problem i have with the Phaser's depth and freq being turned all the way down is that when the sound has stopped, there will be some random resonant frequencies floating around the sub and when you add external distortion it fucks up sounds that come after.
Yo, I'd love it if you could recreate the main bass in the drop of Martin Garrix & Brooks - Byte. It's a really nice growly future bounce bassline which I've been struggling to recreate. :(
Cool but honestly with that first Monster wave, the original sound with the "WT POS" modulation you were doing sounded way better and heavier than anything else you did with that sound :/
I think he's refering to the fact that people who know advanced sound design aren't out there getting famous off of their work, which is a really simple way of viewing a producer since not everyone aspire to get famous nor has good tracks. As a producer it's quite the opposite for me regarding my productions, since I have a shit-load of ideas but lack above average knowledge of sound design. Hence why I'm watching this tutorial. We all have at least one blank part on our canvas so to speak, the important thing is to learn how to fill it. Hope I answered both of your questions well. And yeah I'm extremely elaborate, lol
It sounds like the growl bass from Datsik & Virtual Riot - Nasty. But how do we make the growl sound deeper like the growl bass from Skrillex - Turmoil
I tried doing this tutorial from the beginning, but right off the bat the "monster" wavetable sounded 0% anything like yours. Almost sounded like a normal saw wave. Help?
Big Ant even at a different wavetable, it’s not grOWly. It just sounds like a high pitch buzz saw. No amount of dropping octaves fixes it. This is the THIRD video all done the same way and they allllll sound like this.
noob question I guess, but How do you make yours actually sound like bass? I did exactly the same thing as you and mine sounds like a shitty synth, compared to yours sounding like a heavy bass growl
The highpass takes out most of the low end so maybe tinker with that a bit. turn the drive up? and try moving the eq frequencies more to the lower end to boost the lowers rather than the mids. You've probably figured it out by now but anyway this might help
Rocket Powered Sound False. There are growls, and then misconceptions. It's called a growl for a reason. Name 1 animal with a growl even remotely like that that you would call a growl? It's more like a squeek, or a hiss. A growl, by definition, requires both a bass content with sub frequencies, modulation to form vowels, or slight shifts in timbre, and a mid range reese-like oscillation. High frequency sines with a low frequency content are referred to as FM, for Frequency Modulation, it's called that because it modulates between high and low frequencies with little to no mid range, and typically has no vowel modulation. The "growl" used here is clearly FM. Please learn *at least* a minimun amount of production knowledge before commenting. Thanks.
Ok. This is not a growl. It’s not remotely powerful enough and definitely not crunchy enough. A growl is supposed to start of your basses and is the ‘signature’ bass. It’s supposed to be powerful, heavy, crunchy and hard. The sound you made in the video is none of that. It is a good starting point. Whack some distortion, OTT, more advanced modulation shapes, an actual good wavetable and some more fx and some eq to remove harsh frequencies, then you could have a half decent bass.
The final sound wasn't supposed to be a growl, I should have better explained that- but this is an old video haha. I was simply teaching awesome techniques to making growls.
No offense but you've been using the same wavetables just like everyone else. It doesn't matter on the post processing when this happens it's about the source, meaning it't about the wavetables you use and their frames. Dan Larson talks a bunch about this this as well. You should look into resampling my guy ;)
Hey my guy ;), he does more advanced tuts with different wavetables all the time. He was not trying to make a specific advanced growl right now, simply just showing some methods he often uses to beef up his growls.
I was looking for a tutorial on how to actually growl like in metal but watched this anyway for some reason
HAHA thats so funny

Thanks so much man! I will definitely be doing more of these
Why my monster 5 beginning sounds is different with ur beginning sounds ? its just a piano sound
You have to modulate the WT position to make it growly.
@@BLVZE. no, you have to turn the rend to 0 and play the lower keys
Try downloading the preset
same problem
@@matepapp5820 still sounds different

Good stuff man! Do you have tutorials on any Lit Lord style trap growls? The high pitch synth growls more or less?

Nice video helped me alot

Put Envelope 1 on the mix, that solves it :)
oh damn thanks
bro can u do a "remake" of Stabby - Power Fist that metallic bass "?" in the drop plz and thank you
When I move my knobs no sounds happens. Also, how do I bring up the keyboard that's labeled musical typing. I am completely new to fl studio.
I"m not sure about FL Studio, I use Logic Pro X. Try searching "FL Studio" Musical Typing
How'd you get that "musical typing - init" thing?
Comand - shift - k
Rocket Powered Sound I'm on Windows haha, but hopefully it works, thanks mate :)
How did you open up that piano? lol I forgot
fucking excellent
Thanks!
Could you do a tutorial on like more of a bassy modulation kind of thing (i dont know what to call it) kind of like Crystal Skies?
Yo, I'd love it if you could recreate the main bass in the drop of Martin Garrix & Brooks - Byte. It's a really nice growly future bounce bassline which I've been struggling to recreate. :(
YEAH BOIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!
:D
Can you make some tutorials with zynaddsubfx?
main bass from mine (getter remix)
👌good
I can't download FLP from my cell phone, so I have just record... it's really helpful
Thanks!
I need to take a day and do nothing but sit and make serum sounds
can you do a tutorial on the bass from 2448 by deadmau5?
Is the rent to own on serum legit
Yup. 100%
yes! super cheap to pay monthly
Yeah
Nice video
Cool but honestly with that first Monster wave, the original sound with the "WT POS" modulation you were doing sounded way better and heavier than anything else you did with that sound :/
Why do good people in this do tutorials instead of producing?
What do you mean?

RYTM Music drop the octave in the wave form. Done.
k thx
Meh. If you really want to sound remotely similar to Skrill, you need Massive. Serum just cannot replicate his sound enough.
this is not a tutorial anyway
you can' get to the second sound without having some effect chain in the background which you didn't show..
I tried doing this tutorial from the beginning, but right off the bat the "monster" wavetable sounded 0% anything like yours. Almost sounded like a normal saw wave. Help?
Katie vandruff probably at the wrong wavetable position

why do you not put the hat fully on your head?
That tunes similar to - new sylveon (Russian Music Maker)

Try making the bass from swords and dragons by eptic
Already did lmao
i meant the main bass from the drop
...already did
i thought that video had the lead?
Guess who got the NONIFICATIONNNSSSSS
AYYYYE
Slap a sub on it and you've got a DEEP growl.
Hell yea bro!
i wanna buy t-shirt for summer :D
haha how did this get to 100k?
Another good tip is you licking my tip. Lol Nah good tut man 👍
LMAO thanks dude 😂
looks like VitalyTv
bruh please take that back XD
"highpass filstils...: PFFF
haha lol!
I'm so tired of people confusing FM butt-fuckery with Heavy Growls. Like, come on, that's not a heavy growl, listen to some Excision, or Borgore.
There are many types of growls my dude! There's not even FM in the video XD

+Joey Atlas Exactly. It is also a lot harder for people to download the wavetable to use just for a tutorial so I try to use everything factory
Rocket Powered Sound. I can vouch for that, having to download wavetables is a turn off.
This is not even a growl
It's more like laser bass
I dunno man, this sounds kind of weak. Not crunchy enough. But that's just my opinion.
You gotta edit it a bit more, but the effect can be made, takes a bit.
