    Wow Jeff you went through that fast! I found doing wax melts in a mold then putting them in a container is a pretty cheap way to go. I wrap mine in cello , which is really cheap and then labeling them. I also offer them in tins or jars depending which is cheaper and I do well that way too. People are willing to pay more for them in a tin with the word Luxury Wax Melts on the label! Hope that helps. You can pick up heart shaped molds for 2.50$ and you have them forever.

    Hi Jeff, thanks for sharing all of these videos with us! I really like the breakdown you gave us here that included shipping costs but I'm wondering if you can make another pricing video that also factors in taxes paid on supplies, and estimates on production labor. I've been calculating my numbers over and over and the only way I can get my costs low enough to be under $2 is if I do not include the costs of my labor or add the taxes paid to purchase my materials. I think this might actually be something a lot of people are leaving out and they might be under pricing their melts. What are your thoughts on this?

  • @calonstanni

    A LITTLE off topic but I've emailed fragrance companies and melt makers and I can't get an answer, only opinions and advice based on "gut feelings" and hear-say. Is there any advantage in making scented wax melts over just warming the fragrance itself? Why add it to the wax at all before heating if all we want is the fragrance? Does it not throw as well or as long for some reason if it''s not blended with wax?

    • @calonstanni

      thats what I do ..add it to a carrier oil or DPG and out it in the burner..this is after i had ruined a few inexpensive diffusers putting my fragrance oils in them ( even though I knew they are meant only for essential oils..I wanted them to be for my fragrance oils! ) and it worked great for quite awhile lol..

    I'm a new candle maker just opening my business but every candle I have made so far has just gone out without explanation 😔 I have tried cutting the wick to the right size and have even left it longer but the wax still pools and drowns the flame. The only other thing I can think of that might cause my candles to go out would be the curing time as i only left the ones i tried for an hour or two before lighting them. Does anyone know what might be causing this problem? If so please let me know I'd be super grateful :)

    • @terilehman4786

    I noticed you didn’t factor in the $$ for actually printing the label itself. Toner and Ink costs money. Also you didn’t factor in how much time it takes to make them etc. so the costing is much more than you say in the video.

    • @StandleyHandcrafted
      @StandleyHandcrafted  4 роки тому +2

      There is a lot that wasn’t included. Those costs get wrapped up into other costs like electric, gas for picking things up, things that will be hard to calculate for people who may have different set ups, drives and printers. The melt costs are universal for everyone since they can purchase the same things I mention.
      My printing costs would be different than someone else’s which is why I made it struck for material shown.
