What tooling (cutter) are you going to use? Other boring bars I have seen... the hole thru the bar is offset so that the cutting edge of the cutter is centered on the bar... so others milled a flat face first, then drilled the thru- hole offset for the tool to go in bar... that puts the cutting edge of the tool in the correct geometry to cut the inside surface of your hole as it rotates...
I appreciate the series on this by the way, I'd like to make my own line boring setup at some point. What would a step above cold rolled steel be for bar material?
