20 years ago I bought a '1250',largest machine they made in single-phase,80 amp. That thing is a tank! The majority of it's work is just gouging now. I have a 65 amp at my 9-5 with the cartridge tips,it's a beast as well!
None of those big lenses are worth it. Just a gimmick to take your money. The weld pool is only an inch, why would you need to see the whole job site? The real suckers buy the snap-on helmet. 2×4 flip up lens is all a real welder uses.
That’s your opinion. I found these big lens helmets make a very big difference. A real welder will use every advantage he can to be better at his trade.

Talk about your PAPR helmet sometime. I thought about getting the 3M speedglass but it's a lot of coin.
