I just retwisted my starter locs for the first time, i didn't use clips cos I couldn't find them here and I really didn't want to go to a loctitian for my retwist thanks to you Dae. I think I did an excellent job. You and Alexis really made me finally do this and I just want to thank you beautiful ladies. I love and appreciate you and your loc vlogs. I used castor oil and water only. 💃🏾💃🏾
I started my locs back in October. I usually go to a loctician to get my hair retwisted but decided this time, I'd try to retwist my own locs. I did use the gel this time but I won't going forward. Overall, they came out looking great. In fact, I like how they look better now then when my loctician does them. I'm happy with the results.
Decided to take the step to lock my hair by myself during lockdown. I watched lots of videos to get tips to help me start my hair loc journey. I am so pleased I came across yours. I’m loving learning about what to expect and how to look after my start locks. I love your openness and honesty. Thank you for putting me at ease. You are a beautiful woman doing a good job!
I love your videos ...I’ve started my journey like 3 months ago with a stylist but since the quarantine I’ve had to do my own hair . I love your videos and God bless. Your a life saver fr
Sooo I literals got micro locs (two strand) 10 days ago (before COVID lockdown). I thought to have my loctician do the first retwist and then I will take it on from there. BUT this video- got me thinking maybe I can do it myself!!
Omg the first explanatory video on how to maintain starter locs. At the verge of letting it go two months plus into it. Now I'm going to try retwisting myself. thank you for this xx
I love love love love the results! I love how you kept the process incredibly simple! I’m just a few days in 😆 but I can’t wait till they look like this🙌🏾🙌🏾
Love it! I retwist also with just castor oil and I have thick locs. It’s always worked for me, but I also prefer the frizzy look over anything. Great video :)
You can use a blow dryer. Just limit your usage and make sure the heat is not too high. Depending on the thickness, some people need extra help getting their locs dry.
Your hair turnt out really nice! I remember one time I retwisted my hair with coco butter oil and aloe vera gel and forgot to put spritz in my hair afterwards, my hair was super frizzy, I thought back and was like "I forgot the spritz!!" Lol lesson learned 😏
I was thinking about this just retwist with oil and not gel! Think I’m going to try it after I get this first rewitst. I be a month on the 6th next month of the loc coils!
Wow your hair has really grown since this video 2 years ago. Well I’m just seeing this video 22 July 2022. I am a year and a month locked and I’m tired of the gel retwist. For me with gel when I initially retwist it comes out great. That being said 2 to 3 weeks in when the gel loosens it’s gummy at the root where the gel is. So I decided after seeing your video I’m going to try a retwist with Jamaican black castor oil. I didn’t even think of the thickness of this oil. I tried it today and it came out great so I’m going see how it holds up. I’m not even using gel around my edges I’m just going to use oil and brush my edges.
I admire your hair care routine and I've purchased just about all of the products that you use. I've trial all of the oils and shampoo and just received my full orders today from Amazon. Thank you for all of your videos!
I'm watching your older videos to see the progress.. locs are so beautiful! I just did my first twist on my short locs and my hair dried so fast lol but I did the two strand twist method since I don't have clips yet. Now I know I don't need them. New Subbie 💕
I haven't tried this method yet but I did want to stop using gel...I looked up interlocking and have been on the fence about that...I will give this a shot my next retwist 😄
Hi Dae, I love watching your videos. You look fab! I'm 7 months loc'd with my second set of locs and I'm loving the process. I also do retwists myself as with my first set of locs I was going to a loctician and had a bad experience so cut all my locs off after about 5 years. I feel so much more in control of what goes into my locs and understand more about the process by doing everything myself. Your advice has been great to listen to.
Love it! Thanks for sharing your routine. I will have to try retwisting on my own soon. My only concern is I’ve only had mine for 8 months some aren’t locking yet so they will unravel when I wash it.
Hey I’ve been on my locks journey now for little over a year and I just watched this video. I watch all of your videos but I try to go back and watch the ones that are similar to what I’m going through right now. My question for you is what can I do to help control the frizzy look?
I just retwisted yesterday and took the clips out a few hours later. The retwist took me SIX HOURS. smh I only have 52 baby locs. It was my first retwist and I waited 6 weeks. I had a lot of marrying locs so the time it took me to pull them apart did factor into the time plus the first time doing anything is usually long and awkward. Hopefully I will get my time way down. At first I was separating the strands very gently by by the end I was using a scissors on some of them to part them and others I was just popping. I was trying to be gentle because I don't want to damage my hair but by the end I didn't care. I definitely won't wait as long to do my next retwist and since the retwist didn't even last I think I might go back in in 2 to 4 weeks. I didn't palm roll because I heard so many bad things about it like thinning locs and such so I just wrapped the hair. Some are still looking good today which are the ones I started with in the back. Most in the front have already unraveled but they weren't good to begin with cause my patience was on empty by hour 4. I used aloe vera gel but I wanna try only using oil and water next time. I don't think I'll use jamaican black castor oil cause its sooooo thick and I haven't heard good things about the ease of washing it out to limit build up. I'll try it on ONE loc tonight and see my results in the morning. If I can wash it out on wash day maybe I'll use it.
I have a question..is lavender water ok to use? Is it the equal to rose water? I want to go out and buy some. But I dont know the difference. Thank you for your help
@@daelocs you are so welcome sista👍☺I started my loc journey like 2mos ago..i use cantu products because when I started that's all I really knew, however they work pretty well for my hair.
I’ll try doing mine myself for my 6 month mark 🙃 wish me luck. Doesn’t it last long ? I normally do interlock but bc of that virus I cancel my hair appointment. Never retwisted before . How is it ?
If you have free form Locs, then the purpose is for your Locs to do what they want to, so if you are going for free form, having parts are usually not consistent with the free form standards
My hair is not locking with this method, I have already retwisted twice. Every time I wash my hair the roots unravel. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.
Me tooo...... I've got extremely dry scalp.... and my scalp flakes like nobody's business..... I usually spray my hair with water every 2_3 days and apply some oil.... and wash every 2 weeks ...

Currently retwist my starter locs.. and I’m def here for black castor oil. I might start using that instead. I like to keep my products very simple.
I am so glad I discovered your channel at an early stage of my locs journey. You are so informative. Thank you so much.

Keedra Carrigan I would recommend!
Once I start trying this and see how my hair react to it!
This is exactly how I resist my locs. Rosewater and black castor oil. THAT'S IT!👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Love the thickness of your locs.... beautiful!!!

Kayla Talbert how did it turn out?
DaeLocs I love it. What should I slick back my edges with?
Kayla Talbert I use design essentials edge control but be careful with it! Don’t use it daily or it will cause build up around your front Locs
