Michael Thomas I always thought a Christmas album was a transparent cash grab for recording companies but JM would make an awesome bluesy Christmas album.
Right on John. Its the first sc without my wife. She passed away in a car accident last January and ever since my tbi I can't play guitar like I used to. Or sing.

John never disappoints. Been loving his music lately. When I remembered how good this song is, I did one search and sure enough he covered it. Best version by far and away!

What do you call the kind of jazz that you can hear in BB King's playing? And in Johns, like at 4:08 ? I want to start learning jazz but it's difficult to find the kind of jazz I like because there's so many varieties.
I want to learn that too.. I can figure out some of those licks but..i Want to be able to play them in any key.. If you find some video were i can learn that, please let me know
+adrian rego Learn the Dorian blues scale. It' the minor pentatonic (which I'm sure you know) with a few notes added: flattened fifth (blues note), 9th (called 2nd), and 6th (can be called 13th). Pick a song with a BB feel, say John Mayer - Find Another You, and practice playing the A minor pentatonic with B, Eb, and F# (2nd, flat 5th, 6th, respectively) added. Focus on how each note sounds relative to the key (A major) so you know when to add it to get a certain feel. Most of them feel better as transition notes or accent notes, unless you want to add a bit of tension (notice the D#dim chord in the song, which has the flattened 5th as a root and sounds tense! it also has F#m, Amajor's relative and 6th). Really that's about the best way to get acquainted with jazzy blues, and it's one of the easier jazz forms to learn - technically.
thanks maaan ive been doing that a lot and im getting there!!! i used to jam over find another you..but since i saw this video i can do it more jazzy..
+cocaswa It's called Jazz-Blues, check out Robben Ford also for this kind of stuff. It's basically a sophisticated way of playing blues - by being aware of the changes, following the chords, using arpeggios and throwing some chromatics in.

"Joe Walsh, the guitarist for the Eagles, has cited many influences, including: Guitarists: B.B. King, Chuck Berry, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Les Paul, Pete Townshend, and Ritchie Blackmore Bands: The Beach Boys, the Beatles, Deep Purple, the Faces, the Rolling Stones, and the Who Other artists: Duane Allman, Manfred Mann, and Ronnie Wood" Do you hear these influences in Joe Walsh? "Walsh has also influenced many other artists, including: Dan Fogelberg, Kenny Chesney, Jonny Lang, Maroon 5, Blitzen Trapper, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, George Thorogood, Billy Gibbons, Joe Bonamassa, and Brad Paisley." Do you see how he who was influenced by others in turn influenced others? Lastly, Walsh's fans include Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page, who both praised his guitar work. Page was so impressed by Walsh's work with the James Gang that he asked Walsh and the band to open for his own groups. Walsh and Townshend also became friends when the James Gang opened for the Who in the early 1970s. Do you see how he who was influenced by certain individuals was eventually praised by those very same individuals that influenced him, thus completing a cycle? Can we say the same about Mayer? About how he was influenced by many of the same guitarists by whom Walsh was influenced, and how Mayer is now praised by some of his own influences, namely Clapton? We all stand on the shoulders of Giants and they in fact stand upon a Giant. It doesn't matter whether any of the above is true btw, is it intrinsically possible and therefore potentially applicable?
He needs to make a Christmas album
