I have had similar issues where I had a box of Malaysian goodies that I checked in but had to go through custom check again at LA airport when on transit to Arizona. I have snacks and packets of sauces (no meat). Just because I have 5 packs of each item, I was interrogated as if I am a criminal. My box was torn apart and I practically had to struggle getting the things in while I catch my connection. I was lucky coz there's this kind gentleman from Seremban heading to Arizona waited and helped me. Can you imagine how stressful I was? If not for him, I will probably miss my flight. At the counter of my connection, the lady from 'X' Airlines (prefers not to reveal that airline) was such a wonderful person as well. She saw my box and she said 'custom did this, huh'. She tape my box back as best as she could and check it in. I mean, I am really grateful to the 2 strangers that helped me. What I can say is, US customs are never tactful let alone understanding or friendly. I hate traveling to US. I really understand how you must have felt.
I had this happen in Lihue, Hawaii airport..it was so ridiculous..I was having medical issues also..they had to know what my heat patches were for,( pain) I had to repeat to everyone, several times..i had my diabetic meds and pens( dr. Letter, etc) I had to remove patches so they could look under them..of course they never stay on appropriately after that..I paid extra to have a seat on a certain side of plane( so I could prop my arm and shoulder).. I get called to gate check in to be told they had to change my seat..of course by then I was in severe pain,angry,etc...I of course receive seat on the side of plane I had paid extra to " NOT SIT"!!!! Of course they wanted to give me $25.00 for my next flight..I will never go to Lihue ever again because of airport or delta....done
Me too! I still remember when I travel to Vancouver for working purpose. I am being hold at security room for like 4+ hours, just because I have "Muhamad" in my names, and then they found out rice cooker inside my back, and they asked me with such discrimination questions: Where I am hiding my bomb, where is the place where I'm gonna blow up. I'm like wtf, I am Malaysian! I came here for works! What makes you to judge me that I am terrorist!? Just because I have "Muhamad" on my name!? That rice cooker I bring along is to cook rice, I am Malaysian, I need to eat rice. I'm really really shocked with that experienced tho. So disgraceful act from them. Glad my colleagues from there help me with it. If not, idk what will happened to me. From that experienced, I swear, I will never ever back to US, either works purpose or vacations. I'm sorry citizen of United States, but your government officials/airport security idk what you all called them, they really gave bad bad impressions. The discrimination there is so ridiculous.
When we came back to the Bay Area from our Singapore trip after God knows how many hours, we were stuck in a super long line in SFO, like ridiculously long. Our 2 kids were melting down and they were tired, beyond exhausted! It was super stressful. We could not believe there wasn't any priority lanes for families. In contrast when we travel to SG or most international airports (most recently mexico) there was always a priority lane for families. It is shocking how airports here in the US are not family friendly at all.
Sorry is it just me but everytime we travel anywhere we are not allowed to bring a single liquid over a certain ml. So obviously milk and water is a no no. If we want, we will buy them at the waiting area even though its inflated prices or bring an empty bottle and fill up later on the flight
@3:08. You don’t need to open all of the milk. He was going to say a pat down for you or your lady. But your stress and annoyance didn’t help you process what he said. After watching more @ 3:49 you heard him clearly there
Biasalah tu bro, kat mana2 airport pon macam tu. Tapi di US ni mereka suka provoke to make things worse. And for me as world traveler, USA custom and immigration is the worst.
As a muslim woman wearing hijab, I always get the pat down through most airports in Europe while I was traveling there. The machine never once beep when I walked through it. I usually travel alone & was so used to it but there’s this one time I travelled with my Malaysian friend; the machine beeped coz she forgot she was wearing a chain. She was never pat down but I, the one who went through the machine after her was patted down. So my friend found it weird & start me thinking on the “R” word
I can totally feel for you all. Being a former flight crew , i have been through this kind of inspection even when we are on duty and in uniform mind you. Despite knowing full well what we can and cannot bring onboard we are not spared. We have to go through pat down, take off our shoes, our belts and even at time our neatly combed up hairdos ( it’s time consuming to do up the hair) just because they want to make sure nothing is hidden inside your hairdos. Omg it’s absolute nightmare. That is customs . When it comes to immigration going into US it’s no better regardless the port of entry. Well after a 16 hours flight, in uniform, flying in on duty the 1st thing you want to do would be to crash on your bed and get a good sleep BUT before you could do that and IF you are one of those unlucky one out of your group that get picked for immigration interrogation , Good Luck. You will be interrogated like a criminal even when they know full well you are here on duty. They will asked you the same questions again and again, oh please , come on, do you think I will be able to think straight after such long hours and you can’t loose your temper with them, otherwise you will be hold up longer. By the time they are done with you it will probably be 2-4 hours later and you have to find your own transport to your hotel, as the rest of your colleagues already left the airport provided by the company. Once you have gone through this for 1 time , you will be called up again and again every single time you enter US to the extend that some of my colleagues just request the company not to roster them to fly to States. I am just glad that I don’t have to go through all these nightmares anymore and I am not and don’t intend to , now and future to step foot in that country. God bless. Just glad that you all made it through and landed landed in Malaysia safely. Enjoy yourself here and let that horrible episode be bygones.
Morale of the story: taping is good so that those people can be hold accountable. However, be careful. In some countries, filming the customs and immigration process is prohibited. Sakit kan bila kena but worth kan all those hassles dpt jumpa mak ayah. Enjoy your precious time here Logesh & gang.
You can carry an empty water bottle through security and fill it up at the terminal gate. The "no water" policy had been there for a very long time. I am surprised how you did not know it. All frequent travelers are aware of this rule. By the way, there are a lot of US expatriates in Malaysia. It's one of the best place to live in. US is no longer the place to reside especially California.
@@jasonlau5637 and for a 'first world country', these system and policies are lame. So dated. So many other countries in the world have such better system etc, and a modern, advance, first world country like America can't? Shame.
@@jasonlau5637 They didn't travel to US, they were US citizens travelling from US to another country. Secondly he said he asked about the water and they said that it was okay because it was for the kids and that they will just check it but made him wait for hours. Logesh.. I used to stay in US from 1981 to 1986 as a student, went back again in 1997 for working trips and in 2016 for my son's graduation. The procedural and official behavior at the airport was tremendously change after 2001 event. Most of the Immigration and Airport Security Officers are doing the Religious and Racial Profiling at their airport. After went thru torrid experience at Philadelphia Airport in 2016..I told my other children to omit US Universities from the potential list to further their studies..
Sorry you guys had to go through this ordeal but there is only one word to describe US security. Paranoia!! They feel like everyone out there is a criminal or a threat. I know they are only doing their job but a bit of compassion and humanity goes a long way, especially when we are travelling with children. Once they told my colleague to remove her wig. Can you believe that? She stood her ground and said no way! Love travelling to Japan and Taiwan. Staff there are professional, courteous and respectful. Hope this incident never happen to you guys again.
The whole thing is a security theater, to show that they are "doing something", but in fact, year after year, reports show that there are countless contraband that made it through security anyways
U know what, pardon I’m saying, They *&$k! U at the AirPort, They f*#k! U at the AirPort! That’s what my friend used to tell me about ‘them’ in America..
It's like that in America. Kinda used to it... I traveled around the world and every country is friendly and nice. Only in America you get such unique experience. TSA
@@KumaarFamily I'd usually avoid landing in California, be it LA, San Fran etc. Other states are slightly friendlier ie Salt Lake City, Seattle, Boston and more. California is... special.
In Kl, water bottle cannot get in unless its vacuum sealed or empty. I remember one guy brought in water bottle which he bought in the airport and its vacuum sealed. On my US trips, I really get cold feet in LA Airport, especially the dog check when you queue in line and the hand luggage scan, I had once stopped for my Thai oilment bottle. The officer said do not touch the bag and I was like ok then how are you going to open it since its locked? I was praying hard, hope he is not going to tear the zip and spoil my hand carry. He let me unlock and keep saying do not touch the bag (he sounded just like in American movies) . He took my oilment bottle and went to his supervisor and the supervisor said its fine and let her go. So, I just said thanks and move on quickly. Sometimes, it's just nothing but they still want to check and you know why deep down. Sigh. One thing I learnt, never show your fear in airports especially in foreign lands. Just act cool.
The more reason to be a suspect hehehe. Acting cool as if a trained guy. I was also stopped from touching my luggage by the security in Japan. I think I understand now, they are worry I will trigger something on. Hmm.
My snickers were wet from the raining season in Japan so I bought something to make my shoes dry and my feet a little bit smell nicer. I was stopped and thrown the thing. Luckily, I was puzzled as my intention was genuine. Btw, the thing was baby Johnson powder/talc and it was in Japan.
@@bahloolstories5361 oh my...😅😅 That's sad... I have never carried talc in hand carry, usually in my luggage. I wonder do they still dispose for travel size baby talc.
@@bahloolstories5361 oh really, I was once drilled in China Airport for my first time entry. I was questioned being Indian carrying Malaysian passport. The Supervisor came over and questioned and I answered calmly and showed my paperwork/agenda. He did let me go after 15 mins of questioning. If I would have panicked, questioning might be even longer and they might never let me in. If you didn't do wrong, why worry.
Sorry you guys went through this. I learned the hard way to never question or request anything from the TSA. I once said that I am going to be late for my flight at the Newark airport.. and the guy took my bag and yelled "we need a bag check!" purposely to make me late. Now, I just keep my head down.
It's so weird how airports have been built for decades and yet they still can't regulate a system that allows milk and water to pass through efficiently, so many families travel back and forth yet they never consider fixing this issue. But most airports in other countries don't have this kind of issue that often. So Logesh was right, they don't care about families.
Lol does it sound smart to allow water and milk for everyone , wouldn't that make the process of getting through security much longer? If tsa has to test each liquid that comes through
Sorry to hear of this. The expectation is that, if you needed water prior to boarding, you can ask from any of the eateries available for hot water. Otherwise, you can request for hot water on the plane. Liquids for drinking are not allowed to be brought in, unless it's milk for the babies. Now milk for babies have got to be in their baby bottles. I've travelled with half-drank milk bottles, milk powder either portioned out or still in the formula can. They won't take it away but they will ask ask you to pour a drip or two out on the back of your hand and ask that you taste it in front of them. However, this has only happened to me once. The milk that you had seemed to have looks like prepackaged milk that's bought from the supermarket. They probably just want you to buy that from the airport at higher mark-ups. That said, I have not travelled to the US and this is my experience travelling from Asia to Europe with my kids since they were 6 months old.
I am a 3M mile flier. I have always adhere to airport regulations especially TSA personnel and had to travel across the Pacific ocean with 4 children with no problem at all in the past. Just be respectful and no confrontation to the airport personnel.
Logesh, frankly speaking, what you have experience is what we call RACIALLY PROFILING. Simply because of your skin colour or nationalilty background. Im sure if Rachel travel with another white fellow, this won't be a problem. Having seen the milk was confiscated while clearly you are travelling with toddlers, is too much. I'm sad this is happening in so called 'land of free'. We malaysians are with you, Logesh! Kita jaga kita.
Actually, it's the same liquid screening for everyone. The first officer just didn't explain everything properly. And miscommunication when he said just get rid of it. They can't just pour out the liquid. they have to take the whole bottle.
It happens every where man this skin colour thingee. Even in asia 😂😂😂😂😂😂 some times its in the job market or even when u are renting houses . Or even when u are shopping . Im sure it happens where u live too Azli . . Try going into a goverment office and in the private sector in a company . Im sure u get what im saying 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@soha8618 i admit, racism happens in every culture and country at some degree. But as Logesh himself said, the treatment he had at the SF airport is never happened in Malaysia or any asian country. The profiling about minority ethnic is indeed at another level in USA.
I understand the rules and policies things but the way the staff were handling it was... I must say bad and inefficient. They could have just said this or that are not allowed from the get-go, but instead they only asked the Kumaars to just wait. OK, the checking takes turns and takes time. Fine. But then the stuffs were just sitting there without being checked at all (of which they only did after the Kumaars complained that they were going to be late for their flight if the checking is still not done). All of these could have been avoided if they had done their job properly.
I understand your frustration. I had my airport security incident way back in 2000. I was made to wait for hours as they were saying to check my background with my college. Since then it is clear to me America for me is CLOSED. Never going back there ever since.
Omg its must be horrifiying experience to go through with the kids. I had similar experience once coming back to malaysia from lax. After scanning, they simply turn my backpack upside down and shake it till its empty. Then they're like "Oh its just chocolate." Then pass back my empty bag, ask me to step aside and repack my bag. What in the world! I waste so much time repacking and run for my gate. So i understand your frustration. I thought i've been treated that way because i wear a hijab. So im surprised you guys getting the same treatment.
Its very unfortunate it happened to you. They could have just tell you on the spot that those items are not allowed on the plane and confiscated it and moved on. Any liquid forms of any sort in certain quantities are not allowed for security reasons and that's understandable.
It’s their responsibility to read the rules before travel and respect the workers to not hold up the line or give the employees a hard time for following the rules
I used to work at sfo as security and that lady was separating the milk to run it through the x-ray again. It did not appear that she was about to toss it into the bin. I understand that you guys were stressed about the situation, however, you didn't give her a chance to offer you the option of doing an explosive detection test on the milk and a pat down. Basically went straight to conclusions. Usually when checkpoints get extremely busy, management might have passengers waiting awhile for their pat downs while they try to get more people screened so that could've been why it took so long for a pat down. Also, there would be an insane number of lawsuits if they allowed screeners to pat down the opposite gender...
And they call human rights to others country. What kind of treatment they can do their own people. U.S. military always want to have war with nation is weak and not a 'YES Man' to them. So that's why they were so afraid.
Americans were built differently, that's all. Those who were exposed by Asian countries with their services must've been surprised on the hospitality whether in KLIA, restaurants and so forth. If only management could be efficient and values on hospitality are taught in schools since young. (I'm saying this on my views about stereotypes, not all Americans are like this, but when they compare their hospitality against Asian countries, they are no match, especially Japan. I will admit that as a Malaysian that both efficiency and hospitality is best in Japan, but most asian countries tend to get better at it) I hope no other families will go through this situation as such.
Once my Mom went to Tokyo for a vacation and brought 10 boxes of Boh Tea as souvenirs for her Japanese friends. She got stopped by Japanese customs and they took out each box of Malaysia’s famous BOH Tea, measured and weighed while recording their findings. I waited outside for her for 2 hours. Things like this could happen anywhere, even Japan.
@@jeaninjapan463 I agree this could happen everywhere. But this is justified IMO. Tea is made from leaves and probably was misjudged as weed or bringing anything plant related diseases to the country. If they thought that it was a weed, should be released asap. I'm not sure if they did the analysis that took them 2 hours upon your mom's release or just inefficient but that sure is a long time. I watched the Australian Borders series last time, and the only thing that should be done is confiscate and eliminate the tea entirely and fine if it is the 2nd repeated mistake(if it is under disease control). Nevertheless, it could be much faster as long as it is not a drug/medication issue. Since international affairs are involved anything could happen. Did she manage to get the tea boxes back though? I'm curious. Probably I'll bring some overseas too for my friends elsewhere if she did. As far as mine from Russia to Malaysia is no problem. I once brought rice flour from Malaysia to Russia. The security was curious thinking it was cocaine they checked everything for 30 mins. I got passed because all of it is just normal cooking stuff.
Sorry to hear that dude, things are bad enough in the State that they couldn't make their policy with compassion & proper management all together. Look at the bright side, u are all fine now and all of us here pray/wish for the best of you & families. Cheer up! See u again in Malaysia, if I got the honour bumping on you. I'll treat you! Malaysian culture lol.
Sorry that your family and you had to go through all that. I truly feel for you all. I faced almost similar experience when traveling to Brisbane with my 5-year old son in 2010. All milk products had to be confiscated, and of course, including baby milk powder. We explained that my toddler son needed them but rules are rules according to the custom officers. In 2019, when I traveled to Perth, I was the among the very few who were isolated for thorough pat down and body scan. Though I complied fully in the name of security, I kept wondering why I was singled out and not the many others. Is it just a random thing and I just happened to be picked or was there another reason? All these never happened to me when I traveled to Taiwan, Thailand, South Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, Germany, and New Zealand. So, Logesh and Rachel, I can truly relate to your frustration and anger.
Admitting wrongdoing at the very beginning of the dispute is seen as potentially opening themselves up to threat of legal action , compensation claims , lawsuits ect . That's why it's only at the very end of the dispute after they have lost in court and are directed by the judge to apologize, do they do .This after being assured that they are not liable for it any longer .Wish it was a simple case of them putting their manners on , unfortunately big buisness don't behave like normal people , especially in a litigatious country like America.
@@kentyuen7516 Nobody is challenging the water policy . The problem here is the staff working so slowly and their total lack of efficiency in dealing with the water issue that lead to the couple nearly missing their flight .

What a nightmare! I am so sorry you and your family had to go through that nightmare. I feel nervous now because my family and I are flying out of SFO on Tuesday. Hope everyone is having a wonderful time in Malaysia.
It seems the officer changed his tone after he realizes you are filming - possibly with the fear that they'll go viral. How annoying. To think that they could've easily scanned the milk through the xray and see if there's anything inside (?).
So sorry to hear about what happened, it must have been so frustrating for you guys. Flying with young children is stressful enough (I’m a parent myself) and coupled with this kind of unnecessary stress… my goodness! My husband is French and I’m Malaysian and this has never happened to us every time we go back to France or even in Geneva or Amsterdam airports (not sure about the other EU countries though). Yes not even in Malaysia or other Asian airports, nor in Dubai, Qatar or Istanbul airports during our layovers. We’ve never experienced this sort of thing. In fact, at these aforementioned airports they’ve been nothing but kind and understanding of families with young children ❤️ giving us special lanes and right of way to board the airplane first. It’s deeply unfortunate that this is happening in the US of all places! Why the bureaucracy I must ask? The part about the bottled water I get it, it’s standard procedure across the world however the sealed bottles of milk and pat down?!? It doesn’t make sense. My guess is employees just blindly following the rules without being pragmatic. Think people, think….
Yes very bad service I agree… anyway I rechecked with my pilot uncle regarding the airline rules - apparently liquids above 100ml are not allowed on planes, and this applies to all types of liquids including milk. Unless, you could bring it in powder form such as dry baby formula. So there’s no way to go around it…
@@smoothride7841 Buying it after Check-In(immigration + customs) We used to bring EMPTY bottles and fill it with water after Check-in. You do realize that the woman was still removing the milk from the bag and placing it in a bin, not the trash. While she was doing it so you guys were rushing her. You didn't even give her the opportunity to state your options for the milk. If you told her to throw away the water without listening to your options or even alowing her to give you your options, then she was only doing what you asked. I understand that your were anxious about nearly missing your flight but the employees in the video are only following their procedures just as any employee should at any job. They cannot rush the screening process for anyone because mistakes in aviation security can be very costly and fatal. Unfortunately, events in history around the world have led to these procedures being put in place for our safety. Research the "Liquid Bomb Plot of 2006" it will inform you as to why these specific procedures about liquids are in place. Again I understand your frustration but you must understand that the employees are only doing their jobs. Airport security is not not fun for anybody and should not be rushed. If you were at the airport 3 hours prior then that should be plenty of time to get checked in with your airline and make it through security and to your gate. Tell us of the events that took place at the airport that caused you to run short in time. You could not have been at the security check point for more than 45mins. Mind you, you were able to keep your baby liquids and you did not miss your flight. From the video the staff seemed very understanding and professional.
The airport worker only checked their bags after 2 hours waiting. After Logan asked them what's happening and why it took so long to check the liquid. That's the problem. They are not the first time flyers so they know the rules.
Waiting for 2 hours on a bag check is such a BS lie. This guy is already reacting while she still searching the bag. Such a drama queen for a guy and he can't even pull a racial profiling because his wife is the only white one on the video. Anything to get views I guess
@@JasonIGN Did you not hear what's being said in the video at all?? The officer only started to check their bags AFTER he asked them what's happening AFTER about 2 hours waiting.
It's a security measure for flights regarding liquids. It's there in many airports to avoid terror attacks. It's better to co-operate and be safe than not. It shouldn't be taken too personally. There are seemingly innocent looking people who may be radicalized and want to blow up or hijack. Airports have to be careful. Being in a plane mid air and any such situation is sure disaster.
It was unfortunate that you guys have to go through this, especially with the kids around. But, it's not the SF Airport thing, I faced a similar experience in KLIA last month. The police officer mentioned that the reason behind any form of liquid outside the check-in area being banned is due to the chemical threat precautions (e.g.: acid, chloroform, etc.). So yeah, asking passengers to toss clear mineral water does sound ridiculous, but better safe than sorry. Take care.
You are lucky they allow you to take video of the ordeal, try doing that in Malaysia, they will lock you up. But in the USA, we understand why they are doing that, liquid explosion. Actually they should not allow liquid above 100ml to be carried on board, they have to put it in a special bag and seal it etc (Max 100ml per bottle)
Its the liquid policy onboard aeroplanes post 9/11. It happened to me at Prague Airport. So in ur case those milk boxes if 1 would be fine But u had many boxes so it could be liquid flammable hence the pat down to insure u ain't carrying any lighter or that can ignite the *fuel" if I'm not mistaken on 50ml permitted on hand carry. So there you go
Said you were there 3 hours, and line was super slow. From your own video when watched didn't seemed like hardly any passengers around.. 3 hours no line, really? TSA has rules and is sometimes a bit frustrating. Anyone who travels with children of any age know extra time will be needed. Do not even expect us viewers to believe that ordeal took an hour.
There are exceptions: Formula, breast milk and juice in quantities greater than 3.4 ounces or 100 milliliters are allowed in carry-on baggage and do not need to fit within a quart-sized bag. Breast milk and formula are considered medically necessary liquids. This also applies to breast milk pumping equipment (regardless of presence of breast milk). You do not need to travel with your child to bring breast milk. Source: tsa.gov (USA) Point is the staffs are IDIOTS!!!

Stuff like this doesn't even surprise me anymore. Having no common sense seems to be the norm. And every airport has different regulations so it's hard to know what they want from you before hand. The worse experience we had was when my mother in law from Malaysia came to Denver to visit us. She was 70 and she had 1 carry-on bag that she put sweets in for the kids in Malaysia. Because the bag was old, the zipper was broken so she sewed it up after putting the candy inside. She was in a wheelchair at the time so we got to walk her through the gate until the last check point. At that time they took her bag and ripped it open so the candy spilled everywhere. It was all over the floor when they made her stand up and from the wheelchair so they could pad her down. Then they threw the bag at her and she had to pick up the candy by herself. I was in shock. I ran over to help her and security told me to stand back. They said if I touch her they have to pad her down again. I was heartbroken that they could treat a 70 year old woman with such disrespect.

It is because America is the country that suffered most from terrorist attacks and hijackings which culminated to 911 so the government decided enough is enough so they created the TSA
Actually in 3.05 he did offered to pat one of you guys down. But I think at that point you were really anx and didn’t hear it. He prob thought he already told you. Although we have also experienced a lot of restrictions when we travel in the US (and have done so recently in April, specifically to SFO) I think there might be some miscommunication going on there too. I understand thou, for a 1am flight, the any kids would be at melting point. Hugs hugs.
So… you arrived “three hours early” for your flight but were “about to be late for our flight” for a bag check on a dead checkpoint? That’s sounds a bit far fetched. Observing the video, the checkpoint doesn’t appear to be overly busy. When flying with children, you only had to walk through a metal detector. You causing a scene, filming and using profanity couldn’t have helped your cause. Nobody is fond of airport security but this crew seems to be extremely fair and understanding. Anyone who has traveled in the last 15-20yrs knows that any oversized liquid is going to result in a bag check and delay your experience.
Fellow Malaysian kena ingat,TSA dengan Malaysia lain.TSA very clear stated 100ml,period.He brought 8 pack of milk for the toddlers and gambled anyway instead of maybe declaring beforehands and check the TSA website first about the guidelines? Yeah some countries/airport/immigration prioritize or tutup sebelah mata especially when you are travelling with kids but why take the chance just because maybe you managed to do that before. Standing there waiting for your luggage to be checked is one thing but why not ask them maybe after 15mins instead of berdiri tunggu and get upset afterwards. I had a bad experience with a female officer during pat-down by a tone-deaf female officer in Subang.Literally travelling from SZB to KBR.It happens everywhere. Not just US.

No explanation given...they took our passports..kept us waiting for up to 2 hours..and then handed in our passports as if nothing happened. Also, have been patted down for no reason. Supposedly random...but how random is random when you get extra scrutiny each time? I feel profiled.
my worst experience is border entering sg from malaysia while on bus tours....old people and children waiting on a very long queue(no special queue except sg citizen) they only 1 toilet booth set up outside and its full of tissue paper which has super long queue too while on queue an old man passed out because standing in a queue for 3 hours u are not even allowed to record video or picture there
My visa application to US was a nightmare. Even though I am a 70 yr old female. I am still waiting for their reply, cos I want to visit my sister in US , who has Cancer.
@@napisahmohammed9988 So sad to hear about your sister. I hope you will have a great bond with her soon. They just make it difficult for you. I still dont get it why Americans dont need visas when they visit Malaysia but we need to apply when we go. Sounds so unfair. Hope you will get your visa soon, they are so afraid you might start working in US!!!! At 70!!!!! LOL.
No liquid whatsoever on flight (Malaysia no exception) except that shower gel etc in clear plastic zip lock bag in your handcarry. Liquid abymilk also kena last time.. easier to just bring powder formula and ask for water on board.
What i learned...in future may bring milk powder and ask flight attendant for hot water later. No doubt, its kinda hurt for parents to be treated like this.
Well ....that is America to me. Once my husband friend was driving into Canada and when asked to show his driving licence, one of his other driving licensed ( Thailand ) fell of his wallet while looking for his US license, he is orang putih American work in Thailand and married to a Thai. That was it ! He was search ups and down and so is his car ! In the end they found nothing and let him go !
It's a no no to go to America for me. The racist level is beyond thinking. I can understand your frustration and with the flight schedule + the kids, it's a nightmare.
I have kinda similar experience, i went to airport 1 hour earlier, the security need me show the ticket from the apps while i have the ticket on my hand, line was gone and i waited until the gate close, guess what, after that they started allow people pass by ticket and not from the app 😭
They usually threw any liquid above 3 oz. They don’t ask us. Body washes, make up etc will also get trashed. I usually buy the water after security check at a store if I get thirsty. Some stores sell low fat or other kind of milks after the check up. If there is no replacement then it is a tough situation unless you can take a milk powder.
Well speaking of bad encounters, I had the worst in Medina, Saudi Arabia. The security was so rude they threw the personal items container with my sister's iPhone. her phone cracked. I had a very audible argument with the security at the time and even prayed that if they ever set foot at any airports around the world they would get Karma back. They could just instruct people to clear the container ASAP for others to use. But even the x-ray took so long that they had to do something like that. We had just finished our pilgrimage and was on the flight back to KL via Saudia.
You must understand many of these countries, though they're rich with oil, their heads are not very well oiled -- if you get my drift. They look down to all Asians especially SEAsians. Don't wait for karma, instead write a formal letter to Whom It May Concern -- put them in their proper place. Stand for your rights!!
Here in my airport Newark International Airport in NJ security isn’t nice at all. Maybe it’s because of 911 but we aren’t treated as human beings and it’s so stressful. And every time I go through the X-ray machine and still have to get the Pat down. And never given a choice at all. I can’t imagine traveling today with young kids. 😞
It was so unfortunate. I'm not USA citizen or white people. So I dont know much about TSA security. It was simply a horrible situation. My sympathy goes with you. Going in to USA is so much more difficult than getting out.
Worst thing when you carried ‘Mohamed’ or ‘Muhammad’ as your first name. Luckily I have reference letter from my employer, just to attend my daughter’s graduation. At JFK Airport small things can be an ordeal. It seem that every movement been watched and monitored.
Wow, so I am not the only one I guess. First I did not think about it, yes you're right I am a old woman who my last name is Abdullah. I am almost 60 and a green card holder. There are times the immigration officers will get someone to take me to a room where there will be many people waiting just to ask me questions which I think as a immigration officer they know everything about me in their system. I thought they can smell criminals when they see one but I am not one of them. I am just a normal human beings who have a life here. Sometimes I feel sad with all this. Life is short sometimes please 🙏 make it easy.
Going through airport security is already a nightmare without 2 young children. What a horryfing experience for you guys. Whatever happened to airlines/airports giving preferential treatment to families travelling with young children? Shame on SF Airport 😪
down right racism, that all I can say. There's no need to do all that you guys are already married with two kids in hand. What more proof do they want.
I would not straight away call it racism though because it's difficult to prove in this situation. I also don't really have a problem with the policy (it's similar to what we have here to be honest). The real problem was the staff did not explain to him what needs to be done, what were the available options. They could have at least said "if you want to keep the milk you'd need to do this..."
I travelled from SFO with my two kids, 4.5y and 2y, alone. As in, I was the only parent/adult traveling with my kids. I brought some juice, and they said they needed to pat me down. Fine. My kids sat at the bench waiting, and luckily, my kids didn’t run off. They did the pat down, made me go through the metal detector. That should’ve been it, but they made me go back and forth at least 3 times to do more “tests/searches.” I complied with all their requests, did not talk back, and just kept adding requirements for the juice to get through. The thing is, these TSA officers are not even official TSA officers. They’re a security ground handling agency that TSA hires to do this security check at SFO. To TSA at SFO: please make sure your ground handling agency understands what they’re doing. Half the time, when it comes to special items, they have no idea how to handle it.
It is unbecoming of US recently. I am reluctant to travel to US because of this unnecessary stress. One would question their recruitment programme. I was under the impression being ‘hostile’ is the default. Granted that it was a late night flight and everyone was cranky. But my goodness, when I landed at Dulles, there was a massive 3hrs queue because there was 1person serving the immigration desk.
My cousin's husband is an American, so they traveled often Dallas - KL. And there are many horrible stories like this happened in US airports. And because they are Muslims a lot worst incident than this.
I have not personally experienced racism nor bad behaviour directed at myself, from any US immigration nor customs, but at one occasion, at the Seattle immigration an old Chinese man with his grandson in front of us in the queue, was shouted at because the little boy needed to go to the washroom. The immigration guy, big, white and burly after shouting at them, muttered "these people don't understand English". Both my husband and I were upset at such blatant racism and bad behaviour from the Seattle immigration towards an old man and a young kid. Since then, we have preferred to travel to Europe and other parts of Asia.

Well I am so sorry to hear that . Each time I pass security in any airports in usa I have these jitters . Once in Chicago O’hare …it was my Avon glitter powder …had to go through some hassle . And then once again at JFK, New York …they did say empty your pockets …I did but so happened I had a small tiny paper in my pocket actually thrash …just very small one ….I was subjected for a thorough check up and the officer even asked me if I would choose to follow her to a room . I was like ‘You check me here ‘ she patted me down thoroughly and even going into my jeans !!! Oh my GOD they !!! Malaysian here . Exercise extra caution when going thru security in usa !!! -smh~
Yang betul...kamu telah termasuk dalam senarai "Jaga2" Sejak September 11, 2001 ada banyak perkara..tingkahlaku travel pattern seseorang itu yg akan menimbulkan syak dan akan dimasukkan dalam senarai. Bukan airlines saja. Even banks pun ada "senarai jaga2". Cara anda kirim atau deposit duit. Berapa kali kirim atau deposit duit. Amount duit yg dikirim atau didepositkan.
@Kes Mangkuk Airlines in Msia has never been H..jk by trorst. Itu sebab security ada cincai sikit. Cecair sudah lama dilarang bawa masuk kapalterbang sejak kejadian serangan twin tower d US.
Tapi diorang tak explain pun benda tu kat Logesh. Sampai last minute baru dapat tau kalau lepas pat down boleh dapat balik susu tu. Kalau boleh patut bagitau awal-awal. Jangan biar orang tertunggu.
I’m sorry you and your wife had such an awful experience. I can understand how horrible it must have been for you but the rules are that no liquids (of any kind) more than 100ml is allowed. If other airports allowed you guys through with the milk, that’s a blessing. But we cannot fault the airport security for doing their job, especially when there have been many terror attacks in the USA. If there is anything I have learnt when it comes to such situations, it’s that it never pays to make too much of scene. Security, police etc have the upper hand. And if they choose to, they can make things very difficult for you. Yes, even if you are in the right and you can argue your way through, is it worth the risk of missing your flight, or being taken to a room to be interrogated or have a “internal examination” (ie korek backside). Yes, they can do that and more to you if they want to. Worth it? Especially when you are travelling with kids. Next time bring milk powder and ask the air stewardess for water. We need to pick our battles. Not all battles are worth fighting, especially when you are travelling with two young children. You were lucky they allowed you through with the milk and only made you go through a pat down.
You can fill up your bottle after going through the immigration.. Hot or cold.. Milk packets of less than 100ml is allowed but I think if too many packs may rouse questioning..? Not sure
i'm not American but yet i respect the security at airports. After what happened at 911 and knowing my mom survived 911.. i do accept whatever comes and in fact all airports should tighten up on travel security for a long time. no liquids are to be brought in but i believe we can buy after security checks. one can get away with buying razors or liquids once at LHR airport check in as long it's sealed but not in SIN airport - we have another round of security checks at the gates. the only exceptions are duty free products. my husband is an American and he always told me to adhere to the ' rules' at airport. i was called in even after going past ATL immigration. they pushed me into the room.. i know i'm good yet ,made no fuss.. and after seeing my passport - they were nice enough to apologise and helped me push out my cart. (it was my first time in ATL alone for work ) . i had no issues about it. the smugglers today are masked in so many ways . the worst treatment i had was in JFK but i just let it go.. it wasn't about me but the remarks he made when he asked me to point out my husband . the worst checks i ever had was in Australia.. but that's normal cause Asians forever bringing food back to Australia . Aust so strict on protecting their agriculture. i have witnessed Arnold Schw. got patted down at SYD airport.. no preferential treatment given. ( thats when i know the job is done properly) the more we travel, we just know what to bring and what not to bring . Def. alot of stress when bringing kids on travel but to security - nothing should be taken for granted. China has weird rules after awhile.. upon check in, my bags get scanned multiple times and they do not want you to check in any batteries / aerosol cans to lighters.. on a day, u either get one who chooses to close both eyes or one who chooses that no one is made exceptional. So perhaps it's in my line of work in supply chain, cargo regulations differ for different countries / airlines.. so passengers are no exceptions when we travel. I traveled with a muslim colleague to Boston and when we landed, he got detained for hrs.. this was 4-5 yrs after 9/11. we made no fuss about it.. the world is in chaos these days and air traffic security may be frowned upon but there's a bigger picture why checks like these are carried out..
You guys should Google what just happened there this past Friday. The airport probably on high alert right now . There’s rules for a reason , they handled it as professionally possible there seemed to be a miscommunication and reacting before anything was actually officially done.
You and your wife are in the wrong. TSA website clearly and very specifically states you can take milk in your carry on for your children. There is an entire section on traveling with children and special exemptions for children under 12 that allow the parent to carry fluids in larger amounts. It explains in order to do so legally... You need to first let the very first screener know you have the milk, then you need to remove the milk from the luggage and place in a separate tray for inspection. Then they will need to wipe it down the containers to check for explosive residue and or run it thru Xray. The fact that the screener found it, and you had it stashed in small bags inside your your luggage looks pretty suspicious. The pat down was part of the required policy to follow up anytime someone is caught mistakenly or not of trying to move contraband thru the check point.
Honestly, this happens a lot at SFO because the staff is very bad and untrained at SFO and it's chaos. Compare to LAX The security lines aren't that long and you don't need to suffer this chaos. In my opinion. SFO is very unorganized we waited in Passport control for an hour and we missed our flight to SFO and there was no united employee that let us pass through passport control so we can get to our connecting flight. It also took the transfer desk guy to book our flight next flight and I took an hour. So Next Time don't fly through SFO. Fly through LAX. But I'm very sorry that this happened to you. 6:42 In Taiwan when they call to board the flight or if you have children they will usually call the people with little children to board 1st. If you have little children the staff will escort you to an empty security line. This why security in Taiwan and Japan are among the best
I think it’s airport policy since the events 9/11 changed the airline travel completely. The things that are leftover or most of the things like bottles and other items are restocked and sold in warehouse and the airport earns profits from small things like these.
My husband and I have an ongoing conversation about this right now and it began when we had a similar experience at customs coming back from Singapore to SFO. We had a 6 month old and a 3yo at the time who were listless after that long travel... Anyway, it got us thinking in many Asian countries and Mexico most recently, there is always an option for a family lane or someone on the airport staff would physically come over to help us with our insane baggage, kids, etc and try to show us to a special lane once they identified we were a family with small children. But once you're in the US all families are treated as singles. And as someone who traveled single for 36 years before having children,I can tell you it's so A DAMN BREEZE traveling single vs traveling with small children. Wild!! Just insane! That there aren't standards in place for families flying internationally and domestically is actually very analogous throughout our society which is why this is an ongoing conversation with me and my husband (who is Malay Singaporean!) In general, leaving the 'family friendly' standard to individual establishments/airports/and more really sucks and isn't supporting our children at all or their stressed out parents. I'm sorry you had this experience!! I always thought milk in whatever vessel was totally fine on flights if you had small children. I noticed that your milk was even still sealed in it's packaging!! I'd be livid!!
I hope you both follow up with a formal complaint not only to the chain of command for the individual airlines used but also the better business bureau. That’s an absolute nightmare. Sorry you had to go through that. I could only imagine both of your frustrations
Feel sorry for you guys and all parents who have to be stressed out during their travels with young children. experienced something similar as well and much worst because I have two special needs children..it's a cruel world out there💔 it all boils down to human compassion. In future, just bring powdered milk and an empty flask (get warm water from the flight crew/any barista/cafe in airport international terminals)..reduce your stress where possible 💪💪💕hope you guys have a stress free on your return flight🙏
Dont be stupid bro. Baby milk can be exception and can be check even ask to open any one of the milk box for check purpose. This is common sense for family with kids and baby. Other airports can be understanding to families with kids why can't in US? There are way to do it but there is no compromise there?
@@shahschwantz1712 Trust me, there is no exception for anyone. The only way you can get liquids onto the plane is if it’s frozen. I had this same issue so the second time I came with my stuff frozen.

God bless.

Hmm.

All of these could have been avoided if they had done their job properly.
oh no! couldn’t be the staff shortage at the airport!

I will admit that as a Malaysian that both efficiency and hospitality is best in Japan, but most asian countries tend to get better at it)
I hope no other families will go through this situation as such.

Because they don't like you and even as an American, I still don't fucking like you either way you dumb bitch.
Any security or law enforcement agencies will never apologize or admit their wrongdoings. They will find other excuses to justify their point.
Yeah, been there my self.
Apologize for what? For doing their job? Any LGA that's over 100 ml or 3.4 oz is not allowed to go through the security checkpoint is a common sense.

Very very very bad service!
Yes very bad service I agree… anyway I rechecked with my pilot uncle regarding the airline rules - apparently liquids above 100ml are not allowed on planes, and this applies to all types of liquids including milk. Unless, you could bring it in powder form such as dry baby formula. So there’s no way to go around it…
The sealed bottles can be injected. The best bet is spend a little bit more by buying at the airport

Very well said!

Put that aside of your minds Logesh & Rachel. Have a great holiday at our 'home' country.
You said it👍
Aww man.... , its the famous America's controversy again
Normally liquid above 100ml is not allowed. For Malaysia side they will ask you either you drink on the spot or throw it away. But don't hold up.
There are exceptions:
Formula, breast milk and juice in quantities greater than 3.4 ounces or 100 milliliters are allowed in carry-on baggage and do not need to fit within a quart-sized bag. Breast milk and formula are considered medically necessary liquids. This also applies to breast milk pumping equipment (regardless of presence of breast milk). You do not need to travel with your child to bring breast milk.

Cecair sudah lama dilarang bawa masuk kapalterbang sejak kejadian serangan twin tower d US. Sebab bahan pelutup pun boleh dibuat secara cecair.
@@ninjaturtle6106 there are MAS being hijack, in year something around 80an that kill everyone involved at Johor
A new lesson learnt today, milk & water can cause a terror onto US.
@@a_min60 maybe you should goggle why fluids are not allowed on aircrafts. You cannot fault them for being careful, especially after 9-11.
@@a_min60 yea educated yourself bc the money something bad happen y’all be the first to blame others.
You can fill up your bottle after going through the immigration.. Hot or cold..
Milk packets of less than 100ml is allowed but I think if too many packs may rouse questioning..? Not sure
Airplane water is disgusting. Would not recommend.
That's horrible. Credit to you for being so patient. If i were you, dunno la apa jadi..
i'm not American but yet i respect the security at airports.
Hmmmm... I should think twice coming to AMERICA..... Welcome to CANADA guys!.....
Not too sure about that 🤣 2 friends of mine have stories to tell.

LAX was horrible when I was there. Super slow processing. In general, airports in the US are very ridiculous.
@@pohyokelo But In the International terminal it was not bad. But maybe for the domestic flights

My family actually experienced the similar hassle at the Madinah airport on our way back to Malaysia, back in May...
They are just doing their job. Better safe than sorry.
You cannot bring fluid containers through security if they are over 3 ounces. That is the way it is. For everybody. Everyone knows it.
I think the security wants that milk for their child. They are too poor to buy it themselves, i think.
Nothing surprising. Everyone has had something to remember at American airport security
Just stay safe n chill bro. Enjoy returning home n makan2.
The rules have been the same for years. You cannot take liquids through the security checkpoints. End of story.
The power of a video recording... 👍👍 suddenly all are ok... lol
The water, they just made sure its not a bomb. But they took sooo long why, and the hell was that pat down for?
