2022 RBC Brooklyn Half Marathon

- Vlog #181: A hot day above 70 in the morning, heavy fog/humidity in the air. One of the more unique feeling weather conditions I've raced in. It definitely took its toll, knocking me down over 10lbs in 2 hours even with water and gatorade on the course. Happy with the results all things considered, all I wanted out of today was to go hard.

Congrats Christian! Got a personal best today even though it was brutal. Finished 1:36:50 and probably my hardest effort I’ve ever experienced in the last mile.
That's a great time for the weather, nice job!
Great job Christian. I had some struggles in that heat, but I remember what you said about getting some shade while running on Ocean Parkway. It helped a bit as everyone was on one side of the street. This was my first Brooklyn Half, and was one of the better courses I've ran.
Oh great I'm glad that worked! I have no idea why they don't put the water on the East side of the road. The sun always rises there so that's where the shade ends up. Same issue every year lol. Congrats!
Oh yaaaa!! Congratulations. So proud of you🎉🎉🎉
It was a day!
lol those are my shoes in the upper right hand corner at 1:54 (and that's me immediately after). that was a tough day for a race. like your vids.
🤗 Thanks Tim!
Great effort for everyone who ran today. I run in the blazing heat and humidity everyday in SWFL, you never get above it. Thanks for the amazing video Christian and given the distance and challenging conditions!
Thanks Jay! I don't know how you do it in this weather all the time.
Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed watching.
It's good motivation for the video's I'm making.
Keep the content coming. I'm looking forward to the next one
Thanks so much!
Great video. Ran wave 2, felt totally exhausted by mile 10 as if I would not have been training. Think that the rapid shift from 40-50s for majority of the last months to today was just too much... Incredible tragedy that we lost a running friend today...
So sad! I have a hard time in heat as well, same feeling toward the late miles for me as I lost more and more fluids. Just a tough battle today where we all needed to be careful. Congratulations on finishing!
Congrats! Great video. That humidity was rough. I salute anyone who got a PR today.
Same! Not a PR type of day but for anyone who did, you definitely made big strides in training and should be proud! Those people are due for another PR in better weather no question.
Great job Christian with the video and the run! Congratulations to all the competitors in the race!
YES! Glad to also have been in Wave 1! Congrats Christian!
congrats! conditions were...very tough with the humidity. i still PR'd, but had a huge blister from mile 2 on...
Oh wow! I regret wetting myself so much with the water stations and sprayer since I think all the liquid ended up in my shoes and caused mine lol. I'm not sure if it helped or hurt more lol
Well done Christian, great time. Sad to hear someone passed away just after finishing the race due to the heat.
Thanks Raymond, it is very sad. I was shocked it was a "Green" or no hazard flag all race. It was in the 70s but so humid. 18 others went to the hospital I believe, just a rough day if you were not consciously drinking at every station.
You were amazing, guys! It was my first volunteering event at one of the fluid stations and the vibe was awesome.
Thank you!
It was a hot day ! I was drenched by mile 4 ! I was using this as a long run, more than a race !
Great job !
Thanks Lou, it was. Great job today!
Wow u got this one out quick. Awesome
It's so hot today once I got back I just sat in the AC and got it done haha
Great job!
Thanks, Max!
wave 2 was brutal! it was hot and humid.. the key was to keep drinking all the water and Gatorade and drenching myself at every sprinkler/open hose en route.
Agree! I was also fortunate that there was a bystander/viewer at mile 10 giving out ice-cold Gatorade from his cooler... made a HUGE difference!
Yea a day like today really needs to be about taking in a lot of fluid. I think it goes to show what happens if you don't with as many medical issues as there were today.
Plus few of us were acclimated to the heat. It must have been brutal for the Wave 2 runners who had the sun beating down and out running longer on average. I was fortunate to be done before 9am.
Congrats to all
Woah I can feel the humidity through the video. Way to go!
Right?!
Congrats all!!! It was a very spooky run!!
Eerie looking coming onto Ocean Parkway!
Great job Christian!!! With the race and with the video. The cold towels at the end felt amazing didn't they? I was wave 2. If you are wondering about the heat go watch my video. 🙂
I absolutely will today, looking forward to yours!
@@ChristianRunsNY thank you so much! I really like how you edited this one by the way
@@IRunThings Thank you!
How’d they get the bus?
We hired a bus ourselves. Paid for it from the club and then each member chipped in like $20 a seat to pay for it. I’m not sure which company it was
