    Thank you for reminding us that "old" isn't necessarily needing to be purged, that it can be classic! I especially loved that you mentioned shoes, purses , and accessories! As a "mature" woman, +60, I constantly battle with trying to stay "modern" and not trying to be an age that I'm not. I love that you're saying this as a young woman. As we age, sometimes " classic" can mean dated and there's a fine line to know the difference between the 2. I also totally agree about the shoes, I too never purchase for style only, and tend to purchase classics; tried and true styles that have lasted through the years because I do have some issues with certain shoes. Comfort is my main priority when purchasing any shoes, they have to fit COMFORTABLY in the store before they're ever purchased! I have many "older shoes" that I stil wear and look great! I appreciate your wisdom and reaffirming my thoughts on these items, especially in a world when fashion is always pushing the " latest and greatest " must "haves"!

    I am so happy UA-cam recommended your channel to me. I own a leather jacket that is SEVENTEEN YEARS OLD! It was the caption on your video that reminded me of it😂😂😂😂. I live in a very warm climate, but whenever I need to go up the mountains, I bring it out, dust it, and polish it and off we travel. It has withstood the humidity, and it was a gift from a very dear aunt, so I ain't parting with it. I always keep quality and sentimental things with me, even moving with them from country to country as a missionary. 😂😂

    Yess!! I've learned the hard way not to part with leather jackets. I fell into a decluttering frenzy 5 years ago, and now I regret letting go of a few high quality classics that fit me perfectly, along with a few pieces that would now be considered vintage and cool.

      Same! Got rid of lots of "duplicates" and "things I haven't worn in a year" and I regret so many of those pieces. I sometimes think about all of the cool outfits I could've put together with those pieces now that my style has evolved further.

    Such a helpful video, I share your ethos totally! I have items in my own wardrobe I'd never part with, despite not wearing for some time and perhaps not totally "on trend". Fashion for me, is all about one's own style and knowing what suits us. I'm always quite excited when I discover a new way to wear a much loved item! I love classical and great quality clothes, thrifting is my key to finding those. Thank you!

    I have that Everlane boot in three colors. I believe they are the old Everlane city boot. I love them. It really identifies with my personal style and I will wear them year after year. I will wear them until the soles fall off. I just love them.

      I have that with my Sorel wedges. Some may say they are out of style. They make me feel so good. I don’t care. I’m never parting with them ❤

      @@karelmillard9854 nothing matters more then the way you feel in those boots. Feeling good never goes out of style. Trends are irrelevant when it comes to personal style. I’d much rather see someone walking down the street with a sense of self, than someone wearing head to toe treads!

    Love this. I will add something that it's too big or doesn't fit you. I did and then I lost the extra weight and the majority of my clothes are too big for me and I ditch the clothes I need now.

    I have been thinking about letting go of my more fitted sweaters because body changes post menopause have made me less comfortable with form-fitting knits - I’ve recently embraced loose cuts. But then I think about the fact that they’re classic and fit well…and they stay in my closet!

    • @AdelineLoke
      @AdelineLoke  9 місяців тому +2

      I think it depends how different in size those pieces are. I think one size is fine, any more than that and it’s unlikely you’ll wear them again even if they are classic pieces. Make room for things that fit you and that you love wearing ♥️ (just my opinion) xx

    You are still very young, but the body´s distribution changes every decade, even if your weight stays the same. Clothes will fit differently within 10-15 years. Also, no matter how "classic" a item is regarded, it will always look dated 10-20 years later, in addition to fitting differently. Lastly, the colors that suit us also change as our skintone and hair changes with age. I had to get rid of every black top because it sucks the life out of my face now. For these reasons, I no longer think about "investing" in clothes to last me decades, or keep clothes that are 5+ years old. I do buy quality items, but much fewer pieces to last a few years.

      I think this is usually the case, but not always the case. I'm in my late 40s and my size has not changed since I was 12.

    • @AdelineLoke
      @AdelineLoke  9 місяців тому +5

      If our bodies and colours change, then yes absolutely let those pieces go. But until then I will be holding on to the pieces that still fit me and that I still want to wear in the future ♥️

  • @KseniaTLV
    @KseniaTLV 9 місяців тому

    No, A lot of such junk can accumulate and then mold will appear on it because it does not see sunlight, everything you don’t wear should be thrown away. and if in 5 years I need a leather jacket, I will buy it, a new one of a new type and not the one that I was tired of 5 years ago.
    it's just clothes

    • @AdelineLoke
      @AdelineLoke  9 місяців тому +3

      I just want to reply to this to underline the fact that you should be very selective with what you want to keep. It’s not about just keeping everything (you’ll see in the next video that I declutter a lot of pieces), but keeping good quality pieces that fit you well and that you enjoy wearing to one day be worn in the future when you are ready for them again. ♥️
      I hope that message didn’t get lost in my video.

      I find that leather shoes start to crack after a few years .I have had shoes I love that needed to be thrown out because of this.

    • @RWG08
      @RWG08 8 місяців тому +2

      @@michelebrotman5345In my experience, leather shoes don't crack if you polish them regularly (once every few months or so). As it's skin, it needs to be moisturised, if you will.
