I was feelings lumps of phlegm in my esophagus for a year, hacking trying to get it out, would cause me to vomit. Once I quit, my mornings were terrible as soon as I drank water. This lasted about 1.5 weeks. But it only lasted for about an hour each morning, and the rest of the day was bliss. After two weeks, the mornings got better and better. It all depends. For anyone seeing this, it sounds too easy. And you'd be right. Just swap your brain around and it's like riding a bike. Cravings reduced to almost zero in 1.5 weeks. First 4 days are rough...but stick to it. 4 days, what's that in your life to tell yourself enough is enough.

      Update??
Yea I was having feelings of crud or something in my throat. Couldn't seem cough it up. After about 3 weeks of a dry, unproductive cough, it all started breaking up and once I finally coughed it up it felt SOOO good. Also I started noticing myself taking deep refreshing breaths and that feels good too. It gave me encouragement when I felt myself literally getting better. No more getting short of breath from doing menial tasks, not as easily fatigued as I was before.
Today I'm smoke free but it hasn't been really all that long so I'm still a bit worried about cancer. Actually I'm Alot worried.
I had an aunt who passed away from lung cancer. She had smoked for 35+ years and didn't even feel sick.
She started having a hacking stubborn cough and her Dr found cancer. She died 4 months after finding out.
      Scared the 💩 outta me.
So I quit.... Hope it ain't too late.

@Ty Sullivan hey bud. Honestly (because I know) there's nothing your docs can do or give you. Tell yourself 10 days. No smokes, no booze. It's not fun. For me, I found that even 1 sip of a drink would make my throat situation way worse.
So...easy to say, much harder to do. But I will guarantee to you man to man, your throat etc will clear up immediately if you just give it time. Only a week. But hopefully longer if you can my friend.

Indeed, the withdrawal hit me like a tonne of bricks. I was afraid it was meningitis or something. Haha, I’ll get through it though. Smoked for about seven years and I just no longer felt like it, it was even unpleasant to smoke most of the time and I’d end up forcing myself to finish the cigarette. Horrible. I’m done with it. I choose chemical independence.

I started sleeping much better, & felt more motivated to do things. I did have headaches, but it soon subsides. The max it lasts I believe is 2 weeks, but I experienced less.

Excellent for sharing I had no idea what my body was going through., I don’t but maybe once a year, I woke one and felt and going and cigarettes and one day turned into 2, and turned into 5 and then turned but sicker and sicker. So at first I thought had Covid, then I felt, I experienced literally no sleep for like 36 hours & then I went hospital on my discharge they described. Anxiety, headaches, chest pain, breathing problems, and severe cough. Oh high blood pressure, my blood pressure was 200/120. They got me into the ER in seconds, pass everyone to make sure having a heart attack. My chest is still I have more relief simply from your knowledge that you have shared. It’s not what scares. Hi Britany, congratulations on quitting vaping! 🎉 When you stop vaping, you experience nicotine withdrawal. Dizziness, nausea, and smoking/vaping dreams are part of the withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawal is the healing and adjusting process where nicotine and toxins leave your body and it doesn't have to be a painful process! Please watch these videos below:

I've been smoking cigarettes and or vaping nicotine daily for thirteen years, first time actually not smoking anything since I started. I've been smoke free for three days. I definitely noticed the anxiety, irritation, slight depression and difficulty concentrating, but I was concerned because I've had this burning, itching, painful sore throat with a lot of mucus since I started to cut down. It is very relieving to hear that this is part of the detox. I wasn't sure what was going on lol It's funny how I started having worse feelings after quitting smoking than while I was actually smoking. Cough drops have been my life saver.

I can't lie, it's been a tough week for me post quitting. I feel tired all the time and fall asleep during the day, and as I'm falling asleep I feel like I'm falling; my mood can best be described as flat, verging on the sad and depressed; I don't seem to have much interest in anything and don't feel like going out much. I'm eating ok, but I'm drinking beer, to compensate for the loss of nicotine, I think. On the good side, my lungs are already much better and I can swim much better than as a smoker. Time seems to crawl by very slowly, very strange. Am I normal? Will these feelings pass? I used to be a moderate smoker, maybe 12-15 per day. I've given up in the past, but always reverted after maybe three months or so, but this time it feels pretty tough. Thanks and good luck to anyone out there quitting.

    I've began vaping cessation.
Nicotine withdrawal is manageable for me. Has anyone else experienced Severe allergy issues after quiting vaping? Such as runny noise, sneezing and watery eyes?
As far as excess mucus due to lungs detoxing- this makes sense to me.
However work today (day one without vaping) was Terrible for me.
Not because of withdrawal nor moodiness but due 100% to the above mentioned allergy symptoms.
I took cetirizine in the morning and it didn't help. I took fexofenadine while at work and it only seemed to ease my symptoms by maybe 10%.
The inverse is that when vaping I would experience clogged sinuses, maybe single nostril blockage and pressure build up in my cheeks and puffiness under my eyes.
I'm trying to make sense of this and I'm thinking that stopping the vape today cold turkey was the main contributing factor because I just got home and hit the vape a few times and my sinuses have seemed to relax a bit, definitely more than the medication did.
I know that nicotine disrupts sleep patterns which is one thing that encourages me to quit but considering I only hit the vape twice yesterday in preparation for today-
I did experience some insomnia lastnight so I bought some diphenhydramine (antihistamine known as benadryl) to ensure that I don't struggle with another sleepless night because benadryl Always knocks me out as the active ingredient is also the main ingredient in many over the counter sleep aids.

Today and yesterday for about 3 hours each day, I was wheezing and hVing hard time taking deep breaths, it caused me anxiety that I had to calm myself down. What helped breath into my lungs to take in more oxygen was that I gently closed one nostril and only inhaled through one nostril and exhale slowly through mouth. I did at home covid test it was negative. But the wheezing felt like i had problems with my throat opening. My phlegm was white and like lots of tiny bubbles like I whisked egg white to slightly foamy.

      @CBQMethod  3 роки тому +1

Hi Matt, congratulations on quitting! When you quit, your respiratory system is trying to clear out all the mucus and residues of smoking left in your body. That might cause shortness of breath and cough. Also, when you quit, your body starts getting more oxygen and it takes a bit of time to get used to it and adjust. This can cause headaches. However, if you're experiencing flu (with fever and chills), then it may not be because of quitting smoking. If this persists, we recommend talking to your doctor about it.
