@@redwineisfine I usually point out that atheists don't believe God was the author of the Bible. So I would assume that moral progress is a concept atheists believe in over time. And corrupt leaders in nations and empires slowed that progress to keep their power. Christians too believe that their past rulers and leaders were corrupt and did things to keep their power while also abusing it and slowing progress. There was a reformation within Christianity and now there are a thousand denominations and different people making their own churches. The central part of that is Christ being a perfect son to a perfect father. And giving a morally progressive commands for his future followers. The golden rule, the 10 commandments still with added morality to them. Since the original ten really didn't tell people how to be a good person. It was more laws that they had. So when topics like slavery come up if the concept of moral progress is a Christian concept. The argument is that God doesn't endorse those actions. Everyone still has free will even if it has bad consequences. The reformation happened because there was inaccuracies that the priests were seeing in the rituals and ceremonies that were becoming parts of their worship. And if the worship isn't of god it is more cultish. Where God being unchanging is still a perfect concept of all loving and all knowing.
Omniscience isn't a necessary characteristic of every deity. Most polytheistic deities for example are not purported to be omniscient or omnipotent for that matter.

5:13 Did this video just imply that God and Jeffrey, who are actually humans from the scifi future and only act as God and cherub in a simulated universe... are THEMSELVES merely part of a simulation???
It references the theory that humans will eventually be able to create simulations identical to the real thing from the perspective of the simulated subjects and that its far easier for multiple simulations to exist than multiple universes so its more probable that anyone living in a supposedly real universe is actually in a simulated one. Except that theory is filled with unproven assumptions and even if multiple simulations existed it doesn't mean we aren't in a real universe.
“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?” ― Epicurus This quote made almost 2000 years ago answers all of my questions about a god as seen by the bible!
Well it wasn’t actually Epicurus who said that, though it is often attributed to him. That was actually Sextus Empiricus. But it’s still a solid syllogism none the less.
Most Christians would say that argument doesn’t apply to them because of the Free Will Defense. God can prevent evil, but it is not in our best interest.
@heathen 420 I never said oxygen doesn't exist doofus. The point of my question is that something doesn't need to be proven to exist in order to actually exist. That obviously went over your "rational" little head. Case in point: Oxygen existed for thousands of years before it was ever proven to exist.
@heathen 420 and actually you're wrong about ZERO gods never being proven to exist. Only ONE needs to be proven to exist in order for atheism to be false; you do realize that don't you?
@heathen 420 lol false and there are plenty of atheists who would disagree with you - but going by your conception of atheism: a Hindu must be atheist because they don't believe in Allah, the god of Islam. This makes no sense whatsoever - Hindus believe in literally THOUSANDS of gods. Fact is, no individual has ever demonstrated even a single deity to be nonexistent.
I had tears in my eye from laughing so hard when you were raising dead theist philosophers, then WLC came about and well now my cheeks hurt from laughing.
Even tough I think the "When one person want a relationship with another, the bare minimum is make it evident that you exist" is a good one, most of the time theists counter that with "actually, God wants a relationship with the people willing to put the work to find him". Which (almost) makes sense. But my problem with that line is, there have been through history christian theologians who have put huge ammounts of work in finding him through decades of their live, yet all they come up with is arguments, not anything that actually would indicate that they got to know a supernatural being. I don't see modern apologist making miracles or even theologians from hundreds of years ago, nor they posess any supernatural hability.
Relationships where one person has to prove themselves and the other just sits there are built on a toxic foundation. Basically setting things up for failure in the future.
imagine if humans used that line of reasoning. i only want friends who are willing to put in the effort to find me all on their own. everyone i introduce myself to is obviously forced to accept my existence so the people i desire a relationship with are people who realized that i must exist and made the effort to look for me across the world until they found me. and to make sure i dont force anyone to accept my existence i will never leave my own basement ever. in all the eternity of ever i wouldnt find one single friend.

But them again, if being Christian is the default to good then pedophile priest's and the churches that protected them are good right? Would that mean all corrupt churches and their leaders are good as well?
Let's look at the south during the early times in America that used the Bible to support their position on slavery. How could an all knowing all loving god not know that owning humans isn't good? Or am I wrong and slavery truly is good? But then again how could an all knowing all loving god support ritual human sacrifice?
I don't know maybe it's me and I am missing something but the glorification of rape and ritual human sacrifice seems to be a little more than out of touch with the cults that follow the man on the stick wouldn't you agree?
Where God being unchanging is still a perfect concept of all loving and all knowing.

if god was omniscient, wouldn't he already know the best argument ?
You're asking too many questions. In religion we don't question anything.
Omniscience isn't a necessary characteristic of every deity. Most polytheistic deities for example are not purported to be omniscient or omnipotent for that matter.
@@extract8058
Yes, but this is a monotheistic, Abrahamic deity so many theists are trying to prove. Often explicitly specifying omnipotence, omniscience, and omnibenevolence as traits of said deity.
You would think if there was a god who wanted to be worshipped and acknowledged there would be no need for any arguments. But it seems only in biblical times did he bother exposing himself. Or, he doesn't exist and the bible is just man made mythical tales used to control the masses and give some people easy money.

5:13 Did this video just imply that God and Jeffrey, who are actually humans from the scifi future and only act as God and cherub in a simulated universe... are THEMSELVES merely part of a simulation???
Inception
It's simulations all the way down, until we eventually get to the ball gag.
We are all motes of flotsam in a ball gag, simulated universe
It references the theory that humans will eventually be able to create simulations identical to the real thing from the perspective of the simulated subjects and that its far easier for multiple simulations to exist than multiple universes so its more probable that anyone living in a supposedly real universe is actually in a simulated one. Except that theory is filled with unproven assumptions and even if multiple simulations existed it doesn't mean we aren't in a real universe.
It also implied that their origin simulation is inside a used ball gag being sold at a reasonable price.
“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?”
― Epicurus
This quote made almost 2000 years ago answers all of my questions about a god as seen by the bible!
Deities are not necessarily omnibenevolent or omnipotent as is the case with most polytheistic deities.
@@MyLittlePonyFan24 why cannot he then make removing evil our best interest?
@@MyLittlePonyFan24 Yeah, but there were also objections to that. God interfered with human free will in the old testament.
And that is something else that GOD can't do. Prove to everyone that he exists.
@heathen 420 why do gods have to prove they exist? Does oxygen need to prove it exists?
@heathen 420 "nowadays if it exists we can prove it exists". A claim for which you have no proof.

@@clankboss827 I am not a theist, only my upper cheeks :)
Pascal being resurrected from hell got me.
