Philosophy has always been making a car that can be fixed even in the most remote areas
That’s a fair point. Not asking for electric seats or anything but just a new touch. A small new touch 😂
Let's take tyre pressure monitors for example, even if it malfunctions while in a remote area the car will still move and operate normally.
In my mom's old Avanza, if you don't wanna use the central locking you can just pull the door lock thing up yourself.
Same can be said about electric mirrors. Design them to still maintain functionality and adjustability even if the mechanism breaks.
The point I'm making is that Toyota is ripping it's fans off, and it's fans love it.
This million rand family car only has 2 airbags!
@@RebaSCarsdear your songs always gives me that thing😂
Nne I want review of this car from ngamla man doing it in Afrikaans so that I can understand this car
@@pfunzonevhutalu6982 😂😂😂
Talk about a car that will outlive the owner :-)
I have a 1993 KZJ78 Land Cruiser Prado and the exterior/interior is very similar to this one. Mine has done over 300,000kms and never misses a beat, everything works as it did on day 1 and I love the simplicity. I'm sure this one will be around in 31 years too.
🥳🥳🥳
That's the real car. Luxury comes far last to reliability. My 2006 Toyota Runx is over 500k . U choose Luxury buy a Merc. Reba u are excellent
I really like her honesty in her reviews I don't hate this car mara it doesn't make sense
I think Reba doesn't quite get the LC76 and shouldn't have done this review. While I agree on pricing being ridiculous considering that in the 40 plus years, the production costs should have long been recouped, the lack of creature comforts is simply to ensure that the car is virtually unbreakable. This is explained by the lack of creature comforts like auto aircon or soft buttons and instead favoring manual sliders. The same goes for the absence of a multi-function steering controls, electric mirrors and seats. This car is intended also to be fixed virtually anywhere in the world and with the most minimum of fuss because its targeted clientele will use it to traverse the most remote places and the most off the beaten path terrain. So, while I will never buy one (not for lack of affordability), I do get the formula and agree fully with Toyota that this is a tried and tested product which remains true to purpose and would prove risky, even fatal to temper with. That will also be explained by the order books in any part of the world where you are unlikely to walk into a showroom and walk out with an LC76 or 79. You will also note that in order to sway purists, Toyota has priced the 2.8 Autos far cheaper than the 4.5 V8 manual derivatives.
I get this car fully.
There’s no way a control on a steering wheel will make the car break. Come on.
@@RebaSCars, the #VX model has more features than the one you're reviewing here. i test drove is last week and it's nothing like what you have there, sadly.
You’ve said so much, yet none of it makes sense. Your essay reminds me of the Empty barrel analogy.
My grandad loved umanji so much 😭😭😭 RIP to them
Land cruiser drivers don't often worry about range, they just drive and fill up whenever they see a filling station 😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣im dead
Over a Million for such an outdated interior, they didn't even try lol.
Only you Reba will climb in the boot and give us a signature kick telling us how big and spacious it is inside 😆, ONLY YOU! ❤
LandCruiser ke chipi, it performs, lasts and slaps without the cosmetics. Digital is cool but may die and considering that this car is for remote areas, you'll never go worse with analog
This is the car you take anywhere into Africa it’s never going to break it will come back and still be more than 600k rands after 200000km😂
Toyota knows what they doing
Yes, an absolute beast, but... Yoh the GWM tank is my kinda car, don't come for me T boys, preferences 😭😭😂
If it gets you there and back then no quibbles.
This car has a market, trust me. I've seen it a few times.
I would advise customers to wait for the new land cruiser prado. It was supposed to be launched in April 2024 but has been moved to June 2024.
This 70's series is for those white madala's who used ride in their grandfather's land cruiser bakkies back in the day.
Huh but close but close to 1m
Why cant Toyota SA bring the one as in Australia?
We not taken seriously
Interestingly enough the land cruisers in Australia are produced here in Durban and shipped there
I don't like this tractor 🚜
Tolota😂
No...I'm good. Rather get the old model bakkie land cruiser....it's way cheaper....just as well built
This car its good but it will be a target of being stolen because of the GD6 engine
they could have modernised it indeed... with even with a 2005 toyota corrolla automatic airconditioner and steering wheel which are still functional until this day. Toyota Fortuner is a better buy than this tractor station wagon. The bakkie version is better for the purpose. Heck i would buy 2 Suzuki Jimny 5 doors for the price 😂😂😂😂
"Mordenisation" comes with sleuth of ECUs, adding on to more things that can go wrong, robbing of longetivity. You don't want anything to go wrong where you're on other side of your "far and wide" overlanding trip that you can't "bro maak a plan" over. This is the charm of this vehicle, cross Africa and return to narrate your escapades
I get the purpose. I really do. If Land Rover could do something new to the Defender, think Toyota can just add one button. Just 1 control.
@@RebaSCars Wouldn't cross-shop the new Defender with this. While capable, that Defender now has a million ECUs, no bush mechanic is going near it with a rusty spanner.
I get your point though, if Grenadier could do it surely Toyota could as well. Those Grenadiers aren't cheap though, maybe that's why Toyota is so bold with their pricing.
There are features that use ECUs but operation can still be maintained even if the ECU fails, you can adjust your mirrors manually if the mechanism breaks for example. Adding it isn't adding any stress to the owner but rather making life a bit easier
@@vincentmothapa2421 True, you can make an argument for the Grenadier being a true overlander. It doesn't seem shortchanged. Toyota does have the LC250 and 300, so "choice" is there. The automatic is welcome though and I don't think the hard-nosed okes who have a genuine need for these mind much
@@elliotcosmas I hear you, there are alternatives out there. To me for a million rands this car doesn't make sense. And I don't understand the reason of simplicity or avoiding things that might break incase you're in the middle of nowhere.
This is more true when you consider that in other markets this car has more features, so breaking down in the middle of nowhere wasn't at the top of their minds. I'm convinced they are taking advantage of people's loyalty to the brand, they are cashing in on people not being willing to explore other options to force Toyota to improve and give more bang for the customer's buck
L😆L...Askies shame, e go borile this kari neh! Maybe the idea was to highlight its age anyway. 76 years is no child's play (kidding), and toyota seem to carry it throughout the LC 70 series.
😁🤣🤣😂😂
I think Toyota is just arrogant. A multifunction steering wheel would have been a minimal cost to them . They wouldn't even have had to design one. They could have just taken one from a Fortuner. It would have done wonders for the functionality. I just wouldn't consider this car out of principle. Daylight robbery.
Ma2000 will never understand, its like buying a Tesla 🙈... a car needs to have sound when you accelerate 😂. Too many electronics will complicate when offroad especially where water is involved. Personally i wouldn't want land cruiser changing this like you say if you all want buttons go prado
For me Toyota keeps on doing the Landcruiser the right way.
BI hope and believe they will keep it this way once they put all those new features it will loose its heritage.
And some of us are very
disappointed and find it difficult to cope with all this new cars.
Yet i hope an not the onlyone who loves it as it is.
That's why Toyota also have a Landcruiser Prado for those who need a bit Mordenized in it.
Aowa lena ! A sore rea balabala. Aowa bathong😮! That car is worth R200k with them features
4:54 it’s not actually that big,I think Ford Everest is larger in every dimension
imagne paying a million rand for TWO AIRBAGS! TWO!
I still feel like this car is a Social Experiment by Toyota to see how big their market really is, because what is this? 😂
Halogen lamps on a million dollar car, I love Toyota, but this is being to cheap.
Toyota was cleaning their warehouse and decided to find something to dress up one of their vehicles for venture and cresida leftover materials
This car is made tt way bcz it isn't for the city reba, its for remote areas, some of the most remote places and if you put those things you r calling they are just unnecessary
Nice content. as you mentioned it's a special purpose car. so boring as there's nothing much to say but take it to the terrains and see what will stop it.
My darling love you yourself and the beast are so beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I would buy my father this one just for arrogance aka control
Thee most Armageddon ready vehicle out there and I love it
The design is deliberately dated my sister. Less stuff more reliability. It will drive till eternity
Don't buy it if you don't like it stay away from it let the people who love it buy it
When it comes to Toyota's sound systems - they SUCK!
De seat tsa Cressida 😂😂😂
There's no way one can pay 1 million for halogen lights... mabone a ma yellow for 1 million... this should be at most 250k... so you'll just be paying for the legacy and nothing else... you are too generous ka 7 out of 10... should be 4.5 at most
250k for something that lasts 30 plus years? Are you mental brother?
Haaa you missing the point ntwana😩😩. This car is for real farmers who 1. Have “feed the nation” kinda money and 2. They buying reliability over electrical features.
Imagine being in the bushes of Venda with senses on your Land Cruiser.
Nee man, dit sal nie werk nie.
No point is being missed here. I didn’t ask for sensors. Be that as it may, even farmers will appreciate some basic tech. That’s all.
'New' is overrated when it comes to the land cruiser
'New' is overrated when it comes to the land cruiser
The car is for national parks and not for us🤣🤣
O dira maths ge o nyaka consumption
Land Cruiser = GR venture 👍🏿
😂
She is only correct about the price. She does not get the LC 70 series. This car should always be produced.
Lol
Please review Ford Territory 🙏🏾
The Baas man's car (at least in a South African context 😂)
This is a workhorse for the old, rich Boer grandfather you didn't know you have because odula on a remote farm somewhere ko Oranje. A proper bundu bashing simple ting.
This car Reba, is for the Afrikaaner (mainly) men and women who do adventures in "Africa" travelling from South Africa to Egypt. You do not buy this for daily use, just like the bakkie and double cab versions of this car. The price though, nah, I would go for a Fortuner.
In Daveyton we used to have Chevrolet Commandos as taxis and those cars are from the 70s. Some still had properly working electric windows. I wonder why toyota never included simple features like electric windows and mirrors, those really would not make the car unreliable.
Car pricing tša Toyota globally are insane. They can make a wheelbarrow with a GD6 engine for R1m and people will still buy it.
I'm a toyota fan but i'd never buy this car for more than 300k🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The purpose in 8:39 is scary 😂
5:27 I Believe & I Know Someone Is Going To Tell & Know This Specific Double Cab So Please & Thank You What Make Is That?
Let's take tyre pressure monitors for example, even if it malfunctions while in a remote area the car will still move and operate normally.
In my mom's old Avanza, if you don't wanna use the central locking you can just pull the door lock thing up or push it down yourself.
Same can be said about electric mirrors adjustment. Design them to still maintain functionality and adjustability even if the mechanism breaks.
The point I'm making is that Toyota is ripping it's fans off, and it's fans love it.
This million rand family car only has 2 airbags! I guess fans should be thankful that they were deemed worthy enough to get electric windows now in their million rand car 😅
"a fool shall be parted with their money" as the West African proverb goes
One for the purists 👌🏽
It's built for purpose but it lacks the basic features. So I will give the Landcruiser 7 out of 10.
Wena Reba , i think you are bashing the car too much, that car has a following, its for waterberg, vaalwater ,limpompo farms. the person who buys that is Bostwana in the bush, in the game parks the maun, nata chobe areas, in zambia they are in mazabuka and the farming areas.
Never have I ever heard you complain about a car like you do with this one 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣 A-Class I was worse
Aaaah wena naa,LOL, that intro was so unexpected. Anyways, this car just looks like a civil war somewhere up there in Africa.
Our CEO bought this car and he feels the same. It's utterly overpriced. He loves it, but does not feel it is worth it
Yep. It's a classic car.
Great content Rebs keep it up .
That 2.8 is so noisy 😑... the exterior looks dope 👌🏽. Our new car prices are really crazy.
Stop die lorrie😭😭😭
They stripped everything for the South African market. Because all those features you mentioned are standard in some markets such as Australia.😢
she is beautiful
you are not the market
It's for farmers. Check magazine called Farmers weekly.
Reba you are definitely not the target market 😂😂😂😂
Of course lol
I aggree with you Reba..🤣 Maybe you can help us and ask Toyota why we cant get the same specs as for the one in Ausie market.
I'm still waiting to see where did you get that 7/10. Hopefully there's part 1 of this one.
Its expensive already how much is it gonna cost now with all those fitted in...😮
Nthwe ke mochini leseve
Maseve Maseve...We can stick to Tolota😅😅😅...Great Review as always✨️✨️
What justifies its price, the Land Cruiser hasn’t changed since the 90s
Can you please review audi q2 and q3.. and please include their base level entry price upwards 🙏
I love how they keep it a land cruiser. How they still keep everything old looking
old engines were straight 6, v8 and v6, and they chowed fuel.
You look very tall in that car😆😆😆 For that price, you can get a nice fortune or wait for the next gen Prado.
The clientele for that car is the UN and the Brandy and coke gang
"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication" -Leonardo da Vinci. Focus is on functionality
This vehicle is all about off road not city or urban. I
The only expensive thing you are buying is an Engine and diff
It's a good car for its intended use, the absurd asking price is the only issue
Well.... it's a Land Cruiser 🤷♂😂
The Land Cruiser 76 is built to work
This car is made to go anywhere, less tech more reliability
Ya areyeng ka Lesotho with this one - up in the Lesotho Highlands 😆🔥
I'll never spend that type of money for this 😂😂😂
have beeeeeen making me feel old and okay with it with these Jams at the beginnging lol...
Hilarious that they got that old ass interior with Usb c ports
I guess they're keeping the retro vibe of the car.
iToyota idlala ngathi 🚗🇿🇦🤞🏽😒
A tractor also doesn't have automatic lights
It certainly is character building.
Maseve 😂
I just don't understand the price😮
Plz review the Taigo Rline 😭💜
