This is an excellent review, one of the best I've seen. I've been a bowhunter for almost thirty years. I've owned Hoyt, Mathews, Bowtech, APA, PSE and Elite. I'm currently shooting PSE. They are all great. And your testing proves that. And you are an excellent shot. You shot very good groups with all of them. But there's no doubt that anyone buying a new bow should just shoot them all and go with what fits best. So, what I take away from your review is that hunters have some great choices. I know that the Mach 30 has been getting a lot of great press. But I prefer something with a 32 to 33 inch ATA length. I'm particularly curious about that Bowtech. I'd love to see you do a more in depth review on that bow.
@Rokslide I shot a few different bows today at a local archery shop. I didn't say one way or the other initially. I talked to 3 different guys that owned the phase 4. All had the exact same comments about it. It's a very hard bow to hold on target. I do not know why that is? It's also very hard to tune fixed heads with. Again I don't know why that is. Had a bowtech and an older Prime last year. Both held steady on target much easier. Both tuned to my heads easily. In saying that the bow doesn't actually suck. It looks good it feels good has a nice weight. But of all the bows I've owned over several years I like it the least by a large margin. I'm sure some guys shoot theirs very well and love it. It just isn't for me that's all. Sucks is maybe a bit harsh haha. Just spending that much and it being so underwhelming is a bit of a bummer.
Very interesting that they were all so close to each other in almost every category, except the Mach being lighter/louder and the SR being faster (in performance).
Left out elites SET which allows easy tuning along with 1/4" draw adjustments, and the cable guard can be adjusted with the LTR. Small detail left out to boost other bows? Elite offers more tuning options than any other bow period. If SET doesn't get it done for you the cams can still be shimmed. SET=modified yoke tune, Deadlock=easy cam shimming. I just don't feel you described the ethos nearly as well as the other bows, aside from that it this was an excellent bow review.
"...left out to boost other bows?" Hardly! We don't do it that way at rokslide-- never have, never will. These reviews can't possibly touch on every feature or they'd be so long all the commenters would complain about that instead. We thoroughly covered Elite's SET technology at the full review (written by a Rokslide member) linked below. Here's that review: www.rokslide.com/elite-era-bow-review/
@@Rokslide But you made sure to touch on hoyts 1/4" draw adjustments being a big advantage and stopped to cover deadlock? Could have easily covered SET, LTR and 1/4" draw lengths in 30 seconds and referred to your review for more info? At the same time to be fair you didn't cover the fancy sight/rest mounting options available from about everyone but elite. Be great to cover things quick and refer to your individual bow reviews and avoid wasting time on a review like this. Elite for sure lacks in the mounting of accessories not arguing that. Still a great condensed video and more than anything I appreciate your response!
@@tsi-rocket4144 I don’t think you quite understand how Rokslide works. We take reviews from members and staff, that way we can cover more reviews and members have a chance to share their experiences too. It’s also the most unbiased way to do reviews. When you have that diverse of a pool of writers, there is no way we’re gonna, cover everything you’re talking about in every review. It’s not like we have a Monday morning board meeting and get everybody together to figure out what they’re gonna cover, not cover, etc, doesn’t work that way. If you look at the written review I sent you it’s also linked to another elite review that talks about SET technology. we’ve covered it plenty and if you look at all the reviews as a whole, you’ll see we’re very fair. We just don’t like being accused of hiding anything to promote other bows. Completely unfair statement. And looking at the feedback on this review, It doesn’t look like anybody thinks we’re wasting time.
We never leave anyone out on purpose. Just depends on who’s willing to send a bow when we’re ready to do the testing. Super happy with Matthews and many of our members will agree. They just didn’t send a bow for this test.
Nice review man!!! I love to send my PSE DNA In for that review I ain’t hating I just been looking to upgrade from it but year after year I just keep it and ordering new strings and cables from ABB I can’t find anything faster or lighter and more dead in the hand is the DNA the greatest bow ever built? I am all in for a new bow every year but I can’t find anything better
Hey thank you! It was a ton of work but I strive to provide helpful information! The Mach 30 DS was pretty sweet. As for the LIFT, it didn't show up in time!
I appreciate the kind words and thank you for watching! I was fortunate enough to hunt with the the Alpha X in 2023 and shot a buck with it! I will be hunting with the other bows this upcoming season!
Everyone’s invited to these, but for various reasons some manufactures choose not to participate. Most of the time it has to do with timing. If you go on Rokslide.com you will see multiple reviews on Matthews and they perform very well
Hey Max thanks for checking out the video! Mathews was going to participate, but there was a deadline on when the bows needed to arrive by and Mathews didn't show up in that time frame. It did finally show up and I will be doing a review on it on my personal page.
best test I have seen on UA-cam
Thank you I appreciate that. A lot of effort goes into it!
That’s the best bow review i have ever seen. Thank You for the great video!

I’ve been waiting for a video like this
I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for checking it out!
Long story short, pick the bow that feels the best and practice like crazy. Modern bows can outshoot most anyone.
Can’t argue with that
So true! They are all AWESOME some just perform better for certain people!
Except the phase 4 it sucks.
@@shane4176 be specific. What sucks about it?

the bow industry is very competetive. thanks for the watch
I want to get the hybrid-ish Elite Exalt-35 basically because I shoot way more targets than any game I may hunt.

It is not the best bow in this video, but I like my Hoyt Alpha X 30 very much.. (Best group by the way..)
It was a great shooting bow thats for sure!
Curious why Mathews didn’t get tested? Great video!! Lots of cool stuff to think about.

The Mathews bow did not show up in time to be test. As of this comment, it still has not arrived. When it does, I will do an individual bow review.

I been begging for someone to sell me a new bow!!! PSE Mach 30 peaked my interest as well as the lift 29.5

I’m guessing that ethos was on the performance mod? Shot that bow earlier this year and it’s an absolute shooter!
Just curious, which portion of the test indicated to you that it wasn't an absolute shooter?
@@adventureoffscriptI’m not understanding your question?
@@brentbandy3566 I was wondering what made you ask if the ethos was on the performance mod? ha ha
You shoot that alpha X well my friend. Is that what your going with as your groups were without a doubt the best with the Hoyt

Interested in how the Mathews compares, why was it excluded?

Let her rip potato chip, love my Omen at 74 lbs and 30 inch DL,, wicked fast and very accurate
Thanks for checking out the video I appreciate it! The omen is an awesome bow!
Link to see all of the graphs doesn't work..
Thank you for letting me know I will get that fixed!
Why wasn't Mathews Lift 29.5 or 33 included in the test?
Thanks for checking out the video. The Mathews bow didn't show up in time (it still hasn't arrived) for the test.
@@adventureoffscript Understood. Their loss.
I don't see the Shoot ability test as being very useful, look at the Prime, it shot a lot better at 80-yards than at 40 or 60-yards.
only left out the hottest bow of the year yea that makes sense.....
Are your referring to the Mathews LIFT?
Jason, YOU need to learn not everybody wanted to send a bow for this test.. Does it make sense now? The "hottest" bow is at 10:22 by the way..
