  • Nikola CEO Mark Russell outlines the company's plan to install hydrogen stations around the USA and abroad. Charging stations for electric vehicles will soon blanket the USA and Europe, but hydrogen stations are still limited and will serve mostly the heavy duty trucks. Nikola plans to target this segment. Mark Russell was a speaker at a clean transportation event organized by Gladstein, Neandross & Associates (GNA) in November 2020. GNA is a leading consulting firm in alternative fuel and clean transportation. Here are the highlights from the presentation.

    Great stuff! I started laughing out loud when Russell described the proposed leasing approach, in which he suggests that Nikola will supply fuel for the vehicles!! They won't actually do that when the time comes. To do so would put Nikola on the hook for the high cost of hydrogen fuel, which, contrary to the previous CEO's hype, will STILL cost as much as $16.00 per kilo when production starts. Packaging fuel into the lease price would ruin Nikola (assuming they actually produce anything in volume...)

    this is very old and bad info. nikola has to deliver hydrogen trucks to Anheuser Busch and charging stations for the before the end of 2021 or the agreement is terminated. That clearly isn't going to happen. They are working on getting some IVECO ev trucks for this year, no hydrogen trucks. IMO NKLA will be bankrupt sometime in 2022.

There’s more to Nikola that’s being reported on UA-cam channels and on the big market outlets. As a seasoned investor, I only risk what I’m willing to lose. It’s part of the trade. With Nikola, I’m willing to invest based on some very specific dynamics based on their current state - not those lemons of the past. Thanks for the dialogue. 😊

      @manueldavid7369 3 роки тому +3

      @@danieldeblasio9368 this seems new to you, so enjoy the following:
      It's a result of big oil and gas having their hands directly in the five main global car manufacturing groups for over 60 years now, blocking them actively from developing away from oil consuming friction mechanics. They even pushed marketing of each brand to go toward heavier, bigger, stronger ICE cars in order to avoid shrinking the oil market by new public health laws and possibly more efficient smaller more practical vehicles. We see the outcome on today's roads, which is filled by gigantic overpowered ICE cars, mainly SUVs, usually each having one single driver for commuting, consuming as much petrol/diesel as possible per person. It was a success for the big oil industries but resulted in a stagnation of development within the car industry.
      If big oil had not prevented the development of battery technology this way, electric motors and efficient charging infrastructure/home chargers, the industry would have slowly and naturally developed toward fully electric vehicles, starting around the 1950ies. The industry would have had a perfect and healthy transition, without collapsing under pressure and change, such as it nearly is today. It's a result of greed within the hierarchy of the main global car manufacturers, directly (and officially) embedded/tied in the biggest oil and gas industries. They didn't care for anything but immediate short term profits.
      Their idea Nr.2 now are HYDROGEN CARS&TRUCKS. Using huge oil and gas powered plants abroad, in countries where little to no environmental laws apply, producing hydrogen with their same oil and gas resources and with desalinated ocean water, converting it to hydrogen by electrolysis. Then shipping the hydrogen, as usual with their fright ships and trucks, to all the fuel stations they already own, creating (again) the prize for the fuel they like to have, as monopolized as today's diesel/petrol, leaving the customer dependent on their resource again.
      Worst case scenario for big oil and gas is that everyone charges their daily average use of 35km/21miles by just their few solar panels on their roofs over night, by a little backup battery at home - never using their resource again (feasible since 2004). Or a free solar Supercharger (40km charged in 18 seconds). Therefore the sudden raise of hydrogen powered cars, trying to fight Tesla's superiority, which is already overtaking the range of diesel and petrol cars today, not to mention the added safety and conveniences of Teslas.
      Luckily, customers seem to start to understand the issues with hydrogen and the convenience of purely electric cars, made such as by the open patents of Tesla Motors. And for ten years Tesla has been doubling its manufacturing rate each year, now reaching 1 million per year. It's a good sign.
      Take care.

      @@manueldavid7369 Hey Moe, big oil is not behind the hydrogen economy. The technocrats and NGOs are pushing hydrogen as a replacement of oil and as the dominate energy source moving forward. Furthermore, looking at where the electric grid receives its energy sources, it is not 100% renewable at all nor does it exempt oil or natural gas!

      Tesla and Nikola are in different market segments. I am very wary of Tesla because they are going to have serious competition in the years to come. The legacy automakers are heavy into EVs now. They will be flooding the market at different price levels. Tesla's PE ratio is 1034! At some point Tesla will have to support their PER with sufficient earnings.
