just got one. The little grill works great. I had it low and slow for 5 hours on only 2 chimneys of kingsford. Bacon wrapped chicken. Huge hollowed out onions stuffed with ground chuck and peppers also bacon wrapped. Everything cooked great. After cleaning the grill looks almost new. Only the pan the coal burns in was discolored. Thats expected. I got the grill for camping trips and partys. I think its great for what it is portable and inexpensive.
I've got the Swinger model. The one with 2 side tables. It's less than $80 on Amazon. Having the 2 side tables are worth the extra cost, but it isn't poratable. These Meco Ausie grills are one of the best BBQ grill buys, bar none! My first one, with 1 side table, lasted me about 15 years. Never covered. Left out in Texas heat, rain, freezing, etc. The bottom finally rusted out. I've had my newest one for almost 6 years now. Kept outside under the same conditions. These things are great! The blue one looks great.
I bumped into this at WallyWorld last weekend, and went ahead and bought one, because like you said: "Interesting!" I like the portability of this thing and it's only $50. Used hardwood lump charcoal to cook up some London broil steaks, along with a few burgers for the kiddies. Works just fine. Charcoal burned for at least 5hrs, and had no issue with the paint.....inside nor outside. I'll be using again this weekend, so we'll see what happens, but so far, so good.
Ya got me hungry. I'm using it tonight to grill steaks. I use the Lawry's teriyaki pineapple 30 minute marinade and then put my own little dry rub on just before I put them on the grill.
I bought one of these for a camping trip, we had issues with the charcoal staying lit so i got a an old grill grate and put that in on top of the charcoal pan that came with it. It works much better now. And don't use self lighting charcoal, buy a chimney starter
After the flames die down and the coals glow I shut the lid and keep both vents open. Gets it good and hot. I use the Kingsford Match Light charcoal and never had a problem.
Thanks for the review, bud. I just picked up a used one of these yesterday for.$10. Tried it out tonight and love it. For the price (even the full retail price) this grill can't be beat. Liked and subbed!
Thanks man! Appreciate it. Yeah I've had the grill well over a year and use it weekly. Cook a lot of chicken and steak on it. It's great. Don't miss the gas grills at all. Happy Grillin' brother!
Man, I love me a good horn section! Check out this track I wrote, killer horn section and great sax solo: ua-cam.com/video/xIeXh1ptavQ/v-deo.html You play sax?
Dude! What a great chart! Reminds me of a band I played with for about 10 years called "Denver & The Mile.High Orchestra". We actually went on a reality show in 07. This was our audition. I'm the trumpet player with the buzzed head who says "I need air conditioning in my suit" lol. m.ua-cam.com/video/FH_s9CqhYdY/v-deo.html
Chicken thighs should get to 180 degrees on the inside. I keep both vents open and don't put the chicken on until the flames are down and the coals glow. I put 6 to 10 thighs on the grill. Off hand I usually do about 7 or 8 minutes a side and then I'll cut into one to make sure it's not pink, or use a thermometer. I like this grill way better than gas. I use it all the time. Steaks come out great.
Hope you like it. I've enjoyed mine and cook on it a few times a week. I use the Kingsford Match Light Charcoal in the black bag. Makes it easy to light. No need for lighter fluid.
Hi. Love that grill. I just got the red one. Though I used the wrong chimney starter but needed to use it twice cause I had so much food. What if its real windy, do I close the vents alittle or leave it? Also, what if I'm cooking hot dogs, hot sausages, burgers, chicken thighs and legs , steak kabobs and fresh corn. Do i have to put a lot of charcoal to cook everything or add more charcoal thru out the process?
@@stevekonbass hey ill invite you and the wife we with me and my partner for a BBQ. Lol! Thanks next time I'll use more charcoal. This grill is so cool . Have a good day and thank you.
Well, the tray helps with airflow and also makes it easier to clean the ashes out. I wouldn't want to tell you the wrong thing so best to send the maker an email and ask.
@@stevekonbass i tried to do direct and then indirect cooking for chicken thighs but they didn't cook all the way on the indirect side. I think I'll try to cook them like u did next time.
I don't claim to be any grillin' expert, but I gotta say they came out good the way I did them. After you do it a few times you'll have that cookin' time thing down pat.
Cheapest grill I've ever brought...just used it for the first time yesterday at the beach and left it there when I left. Lit charcoal on one side and the paint started bubbling and side just started peeling away. Inexpensive for a reason...

Yeah I got my money's worth with how much I use it. Beats the gas grill I used to use.
Thanks for the shout out! Great video!

Thank you for the review sir, I just picked this up at my local Lowe's for $45.
Hope you like it. I just got done grilling steaks with it a few hours ago.
Same here. Got it on sale about three weeks ago. Loving it so far.

Chimney starter for sure! Match Light charcoal is infused with lighter fluid which makes the food taste like sh*t

Thank you so much!
You're welcome Latoya!
mine was more but it’s now 12 yers old. holding up well but we keep it out of the weather
I got one in case Dorian knock the electricity off. when done cooking to let the grill cool down do i leave the vents open or pull up the topper .
Yep, I was thinking about Dorian too and got extra charcoal. I let it cool down by keeping the lid down and shutting both vents.
Great video thank you 😊
Thanks for watching!

Great video, I have this exact grill. Is yours still kickin?
I sold the house and left the grill with the new owner. It was still working. Gotta get a new one.
Why is it called Aussie grill but I can't find it in Australia?
LOL, cause it's Made In America.
