    thanks Steve!

      Just practice it slower. You can throw these licks on any style tune... country, blues, rock, etc. So even if you play them at a slower tempo, they'll work for you. See you next week.

    This is a very nice lesson. Those licks are very smooth. Reminds me of David Hungate of Toto.

    i always thought you place you finger Between the frets. ..no ? Another Great Lesson ~

    • @stevekonbass
      @stevekonbass  4 місяці тому

      If you're too far behind the fret you'll get fret buzz. The middle is okay, but up close to the fret is best. That's the cleanest and where the note will ring true.

    This may be the start I need. I occasionally play Bass at church where is it is all contemporary Christian worship music. Lots of the driving “rock” tunes seem to ride the Root. I snuggle with fills when trying to mix it up i stead of just driving quarter or 1/8 notes.

    Mr Steve, You are The Best! Thanks to you I am now the bass player in a band! Two gigs this week and we even get paid....lol. It is so much fun to "lock in with a drummer." Not even missing my keyboards. Thanks again. Gonna put these licks in my pocket!

    • @stevekonbass

      Awesome, awesome, awesome!!! If I was in Idaho I'd not be a hermit for a night and come watch you play, lol! Good luck with the gigs!

      Haha Thanks!! ...I do best when I imagine that nobody in the "crowd" (lol) knows how to play bass. Then I can loosen up and wont sweat every fret and hand position and just hang out in pentatonic scales or roots, 5th etc on songs I have not practiced at home. Knowing theory helps so much and You gave me the confidence to just feel and groove, not get too hung up on advanced techniques like many of the other youtubers. Love that lesson.
    Steve, noob question but if I can ask, what strings do you use on your fender? (In fact what do you prefer I general? (apologies if you've mentioned it before)
    Cheers buddy ❤

      @stevekonbass  7 місяців тому +1

      Glad you dug the lesson. I use Fender 7250 on the jazz bass. On the Schecter I usually put on Slinkys.

      You get such a cool sound but I guess it's all in that finger work.
      Cheers Steve. Definitely the best tutor on the tube , thank you❤

      Thank you! Well... here's some behind the scenes UA-cam video insight. It's easy to get a good sound live at a gig or something, but for these videos it's tricky because I know most people are only using a phone or laptop to listen. It's hard to get a bass to sound good for those tiny dime size speakers. So, I end up using more highs than I normally would, and then I have to do some tweaking of the overall recording before I upload it. Most of the time I'm shaking my head at how it sounds because I like that fat deep bass sound, but gotta factor in those dime sized speakers.

      BTW, the Schecter sounds great. Lovely warm tone. After watching one of your lessons where you used it, I found myself hovering over ebay one hand on the buy now button the other hand ready to slap me 😆
