- TISSOT has released a modern re-issue of one of its most iconic watches - the Sideral. While the original Sideral was an innovative timepiece when first launched in 1969, this new re-issue uses modern, high-tech materials and TISSOT's Powermatic 80 movement.

I got myself a red one, I bet with a black strap it will look cool. Great video, thanks!
Thanks you 🙏🙏 and congrats!!
Great review! Looks like Tissot really nailed the reboot of this model.
Thanks buddy and yeah I think this is a super re-issue
I have this watch and love it, for what it is.
Super value for money. I’m excited to see the bigger brands using this kind of material more often.
The strap is a bit hard to close, but I use my index and thumb, on both the outer and inner side of the strap, to prevent damaging the skin. It’s pretty easy after you get used to it.
Cheers
Appreciate the tip buddy 🙏👍
I'm so excited for this watch! They've completely nailed this reissue.
💯 man! It's a great release from a pretty underrated brand IMO
I think Tissot has another win. I especially like that they didn't punk out with the water resistance... 300m makes this watch the perfect for summer vacation. I do think it would have been better without the see through case back. It's not like the Powermatic 80 is much to look at anyway, and they could have shaved a bit off the thickness while adding to the durability.
Two cool trends new year: reissues and smaller watches.
And integrated bracelets.
Incredibly affordable wristwatch for those who like the retro look. One (probably the red one) will definitely end up in my collection!
Love the look of this watch. I'm a big fan of tissot, I have the prx and a white dial sea star chronograph given to my dad in 1969 (for his 21st birthday, including an engraving from his parents with his birthday date). On another note I loved the review you did of the 'lost watch'. The video cuts from the war made the review feel more like a history lesson. I'd love you to do more videos like that, it was so different and refreshing as most watch channels are very similar (I guess that's just the game though!) Great work as always, I'm sure your channel will grow quickly
Thanks for the kinds words man, that Lost Watch video was a labour of love with hours of editing - but hardly any views 🤷 😂
The Sideral is very cool IMO - not perfect but I still want one!! I've got a 35mm PRX coming in this week to check out so look out for a review of that coming soon. That 1969 Sea Star sounds like something to be treasured and passed down to the next generation.
@Escapement24 haha I bet! Sucks it didn't get the views it deserved, I was blown away by that video. I treasure the sea star as my dad passed away when I was 21. I see myself as the current guardian of the watch until it's time to pass it down to my son. It will always belong to my dad ❤️
That's a really great way to look at it and I love when watches have so much sentimental value 👋
I purchased the watch in yellow here in the US a week ago and I absolutely love it
I'm wearing the the Yellow Sideral today. Bought it from Teddy last week. Amazing watch that lives up to the hype. Highly recommended!
Congrats on the new acquisition!
I picked up the yellow version yesterday...Cheap and cheerful watch. And very nice video.
Congrats on the new pickup and cheers for the kind feedback!
this tissot is so badass. i'd take this over the overhyped PRX, as great as the PRX is for its value in the integrated sports bracelet craze...this sideral is next level.
I haven't (yet) managed to spend much time with a PRX...though that may be about to change!
Bought the yellow one this week from my Rolex AD. Super fun watch plus 'buy history' toward my next (2nd) Rolex with one tap of the Visa card.
Not envious at all...honestly (I may be lying 🤣)
This looks fantastic. Likely to be my third Tissot watch alongside my Le Locle and PRX 80.
It is a really great release. Tissot are really knocking it out of the park ATM.
Welcome from the future!
Vostok Amphibia Sideral mod likes it.
This is another stunning good watch after PRX by Tissot. Great artwork.
Don't need 80 hrs power reserve. Rather.. wish they kept it at 4 Hz for smoother second hand sweeping ✌😊 enjoy your review btw. Thank you for sharing and happy new year 😀🎉
Lovely watch, great review. I’ve subscribed 👍🏻
Thanks buddy and welcome aboard! 👍
I have the yellow...and its a lot of fun - love it!...a few complaints: I dont think the bezel action is that great - feels very stiff...loses about 7 sec's/day (but who cares)..easy for it to slip off when you take the strap off, the screw down crown is so finely threaded that it takes a lot of turns to screw it off/on, and the 'countdown complication' doesnt make a lot of sense for vast majority of potential buyers....But Im clearly being picky...mechanical ETA movement, 300 M, sapphire, rotating bezel, see through case back, funky design, cool strap, date, all the lume...I love it
Great review, mate! Love that red variant! And honestly... it does suit you! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this! 🙌
Thanks buddy, it's a great release! 🙌
Great review Simon, quite like that watch,I've had a couple of Tissot watches, good brand
Cheers Joe. I haven't owned a Tissot before and a lot of their models over the last 20 years haven't really appealed to me, but this is a great re-issue IMO 👍
I had a look at one of those today, quite nice in person, nice colours and vibrant
It’s a great looking Ugly watch ! I’m definitely getting one.
😂
Great review! This was an unexpected, but welcome release. I had considered getting a vintage Sideral S (yellow) last year, but did not end up making the leap. This has that funky '70s look with a slight modern twist. It's that fun summer watch I've always wanted. I mean, my Dan Henry 1970 orange works there, but this is next level and a great value for the money. I want the blue one in this case, but there's no bad choice.
Thanks buddy. It's definitely a great summer watch! I think Tissot has done a great job and I'd like to see more brands revisit some of their 70s designs and give us modern reinterpretations of them in the way Tissot has.
Super holiday watch, wouldn't have to worry about getting stabbed in the throat in a major city, but still enjoyable to wear.
I'm with you Si, yellow for me..
As I was watching I was thinking about the " clasp" and you mirrored my concerns...
Add that to a " overhyped" 😉 PRX and you would have a banging 2 piece collection
Definitely a great summer watch and I reckon yellow is the way to go. Between this and the PRX Tissot are punching 👊
@@Escapement24 two corkers for less than 2 grand.....no brainer.
When you've finished with it can I borrow it 😂
...and you could defo wear it without fear of it being taken off your wrist - once it's fastened it comes off about as easily as it goes on! 😂
@@Escapement24 you can use that excuse not to give it back 😂
Dammit I should've thought of that 😂😂😂
This watch is nice. Good review
Love it!
They've knocked it out the park with this one, love the colour ways on the face. I have a watch with a Powermatic movement and I can't fault it, yeah, you can see it tick slightly more that a 4Hz movement but so what! I think I could have swallowed it better had it been around the £600 mark, but then I don't know what's involved in making a carbon case. Yep, yellow for me, though I'd have loved a bright green one!
Couldn't agree more - and the movement is pretty solid, accurate and reliable. Perhaps with the only disadvantage being that it can't be regulated.
Even at £900 I think it's strong value - in replying to another comment I mentioned the Doxa Sub 300. There are a lot of similarities but that one in forged carbon is £4K+
I have to agree with your brother on this one.
I wish Tissot used that logo on every watch of theirs. It is so much better than the 1853 thing on the dial
💯
Depending on the watch. In the Heritage line, the modern logo would be totally out of place.
Love the watch, but don't like the very deep chapter ring. Then you add the boxed crystal and there's just too much open space that makes it look odd.
Is the back case also made from sapphire crystal?
Yes
Nice original recreation (I think I said that right!?). Certainly captures the 50-year-old aesthetic embodied in the original. It has a flavour of Swatch about it (or more accurately Swatch pinched some broad design ideas from Tissot). You’re spot on that this is for sporty, not formal, wear (unless you’re James Dyson), although in 1971 I’m not sure there was such a thing as a “sporty or active lifestyle” - ‘lifestyles’ hadn’t been invented yet 😆😂🤣
I think Tissot should have borrowed Longines’ 5hz hi-beat movement and added £2/300 to the price…and make it a bit thinner…and used a normal (good quality) FKM rubber strap. That would have been an astonishing, rather than just rather nice, watch.
Now that is something I'd like to see!
The yellow looks great! Very tempting. Just wondering how you're coping with the size, given that the Doxa 600T was too big. This thing looks even chunkier!
The size is definitely at the limit of what I feel comfortable with these days! It doesn't feel top heavy in the way the Doxa 600 did - I imagine that the tonneau case wears pretty similarly to the Doxa 300 - which is probably the one I should've gone for originally (though at the time it was out of budget).
I've actually just realised while writing this that the Tissot is actually almost a budget alternative to the Doxa Sub 300 in forged carbon 🤔
Wish that had occurred to me earlier as it would've been interesting to make a comparison in the video...dammit!! 😂

@@Escapement24 Thanks for sharing! What would be your wrist size, and would you think this might be ok or a bit small for a 7.25 inch wrist size please?
My wrist is tiny - around 6.25". This one would look fine on your size wrist IMO but see if you can try one on before buying
Suitable for those who are afraid of wearing expensive rolexes or panerais in big cities such as paris rome etc...they can even take a walk at midnight ...😂
I would have bought one if it wasn’t $1,000
I heard a rumour that carbon is no good at depth... 😂
Like the watch, the strap not so much
love the looks of this watch but why make it this big..
What's the advantage with forged carbon ?
Light weight...and just looks cool!
it will not become brittle over the years
Love this watch! I got the blue. I’m a sailor, and the regatta time is really just for show…not functional for a sailboat race. Here is a vid I shot explaining this:

I agree with your older brother - hideous.
😂
Yeah, but he's probably senile.
wear gloves next time quite the distraction your scabbed up hands my guy
Meet the Sideral, a watch designed by Stevie Wonder. I'll pass on this one, thanks.
The design is definitely not going to be for everyone, and this hobby would be pretty boring if we all liked the same stuff 👍
@@Escapement24 Agreed, but at THAT price? $1200 here in UK.
I don't think £925 is overly excessive if you look at comparisons. The Doxa Sub300 in forged carbon uses a comparative movement (Sellita SW200) and same depth rating, and has an RRP of £3,790. I have a Dietrich OT-4 with a forged carbon case and Miyota movement and that had an RRP of circa £1,600 5 years ago 🤷
Hate it. Useless bezel and don't understand the hype. Yup the pin is hard to push into the strap and when it loosens the pin will be hard to keep into the strap.....
