I love this album!! Every track is great. There are very few albums where all the tracks are outstanding. =1 is one of them. My favorite album for years has been Perfect Strangers. It has now been moved to 2nd place. =1 is now my favorite album. The 5 of you are making awesome music together. Great job!! This album is going to go platinum!! ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉😊😊😊

as a lifelong deep purple fan, I think this is a well sounding cd. Honestly, I don’t think there is a bad track on this cd at all. Hail to Deep Purple, another job well done!! You guys still rock and kick some serious ass!!
Lazy Sod is the absolute #1 track on this album,,,,,,,no question.

This was a damn good effort. Gillan sounds good. I have to take into account that Paice is 76 years old, but he's Paice and that's just fine with me.
This is the álbum they should have recorded after Machine Head.

First of all this album should have been 8 songs at most on one LP. It has at least 5 or 6 VERY weak songs and maybe 4 good ones.

Fantastic ranking! I'm almost in agreement except I've got top five as: 5) I'll Catch You 4) If I Were You 3) Lazy Sod 2) Portable Door 1) Pictures of You. Very similar!

No chance to judge after a few seconds of each song. But these bits seem to indicate a really hard rocking album, while "I'll Catch You" (your # 5) sounds pleasently more 'epic'.
Swap Lazy Sod with Pictures Of You.

It's just an OK record, and I don't mean that to be a negative but let's face it, this isn't the same band they once were, and they aren't kids anymore. Gillan can't scream as he once could, Ian Paice isn't likely to do any of his once epic tour de force drum solos, no Jon Lord or Blackmore. It's OK and I'm not unhappy with my purchase, I own most of their stuff because I am a lifer. LOL

Bought this on pre order on the strength of the great singles . Unfortunately these are the stand out tracks , the rest is very ordinary and Gillan is noticeably struggling . Time has finally caught up with the boys
Yes although the new guide is a great guitarist. Without Lord or Blackmore this band is hardly worthy of being "Deep Purple".
Wouldn't quite agree. There's the old school and the new, it's a huge divide. I personally love the Mcbride stuff, and give them their due for doing this when all but Simon are pushing 80. Simon certainly breathes new fire, very distinct so yeah! Different in taste but tasty nevertheless!

I agree! It is just an Ian Gillan's band doing Purple's covers and, of course, refusing to play live songs from Coverdale/Hughes era.

Very average album with mediocre compositions. I don't like the guitarist, at the same time going behind Blackmore and Morse actually more prog, the fall is obvious.

@@rockandrollallnite Wrong. Even on the VERY simple vocals of "Lazy Sod" the dude struggles. He is a shell of what he was even a few years ago. Now he's pathetic. Compare him to what Glenn Hughes sounds like today.
@@steveludwig4200Actually I prefer Ian Gillan voice, Glen Hughes has always been a bit of a screamer without the nice tone of voice Gillan can still muster. In my humble opinion.
