The one thing that Amazing Spiderman series did better than the Raimi films has always been the relationship between Peter and Gwen, which makes this ending hit so much harder.
I agree as much as I love Tobey maguire Spiderman they handled Peter and Gwen better than Mary Jane in my opinion

Toms spider man did better job between him and aunt may(as uncle ben figure also)
The Hardest thing about Peter job is he can’t always save everyone.

Its one of those Red Wedding things where the people who know the old cannon KNOW. Like watching them be just like Peter, in denial, like "Ok, this looks bad, but this is SPIDER-MAN, this is a movie, none of this is plausable anyway- how do we fix it? What's the solution?" and there be nothing.
Seeing True Love suffer will always be one of the hardest things to see as a human being. Fake or Not, we were not made to watch good people suffer and prosper as human beings at the same time, it will always break us no matter who it is because we all long for true love, so to see it perish is… heart breaking.

What's really painful here is that Gwen's father made Peter promise him he would never put her in danger, and he tried, he got away from her for some time but in the end, they ended together again, and if as his father would have foretold... this happened.
