Loved the 80s appearances of Chris Elliott! I had a 2 hour VHS tape I compiled back in the day of all his appearances. Always hilarious!

@@moaningpheromones I think you're a little high on that estimate. I put it together with two VCRs side-by-side and getting them recorded onto one tape. Man, if I knew UA-cam was on the horizon about 15 years later, I would've saved a ton of time 🤣

I suggest that Chris Elliot lovers do a search for "chris elliot don giller". Don's posted at least a dozen of CE's greatest hits, from Guy Under The Seats to Marlon Brando.

I would love to hear Dave talk about where he found Chris Elliot, and how he became a part of the show. Some of my all time favorite Letterman moments feature Chris Elliot.

Me too. I heard Chris talk about it. He interviewed for a job when Dave was going on the air in '82. Dave hired Chris as a production assistant. Then Chris started to appear sketches and then became a writer for the show in 1983. Still would love to hear Dave talk about it.

Dave: "Working at the zoo you must have had some wonderful experiences with the animals."
Chris Elliot, The Zookeeper: "I don't know about that. I'm not a big animal lover to be honest with you."
Lol! Chris is a comedic genius who needs more praise.

If I remember correctly, Tanya was a bit worse for wear. Chris never let looks or refinement get in the way of true love either. I'll never forget his love scene in the Eagleheart "Death Punch" episode, no matter how hard I try.

I wonder how many realize that Chris Elliott is the son of legendary comedian Ray Elliott who was half of the "Bob and Ray" comedy duo who was on radio from 1946 till 1988.

My viewing became progressively more sporadic after about 1996 or so and so the CE + GM piece here the other day was a bit of a revelation. I had no idea how much Mr Elliot the younger came to look like Mr Elliot the elder! Crazy resemblance! Almost like ... father and son!
Anyway, yes, Chris being Chris. You younger folks know he lived under the seats in 6A over at 30 Rock, right?
