Chris Elliott as Jack Hanna Collection on Letterman, 1986 (st.)

- Not much of a collection; Chris did Jack only two times, both of which have been previously uploaded by others:
1. May 20, 1986. With his assistant "Tanya" (Chris MacLeod).
2. August 12, 1986. With his assistant "Butch" (Matt Wickline) and Animal Achievement Awards, where Chris transforms himself from Jack to Marv Albert.
Eugene Levy John Candy and Steve Winwood were the guests. Back when “ celebrities” had talent. I’m glad I’m old.
"you gotta hold your ground with the bastards" LOL!!!!!!!
"oh really Dr. Dolittle!"..omg..he is so funny
omg...pulling the gun on the rabbit CRACKS me up!
Oh Fuck! I forgot How Funny they were together. Late Night Sucks so bad it's embarrassing ...
I need Chris Elliott now more than ever.
Yeah, too bad he's been stuck in Schidts Creek ☺
Leave it to Chris Elliott to do an impersonation while doing an impersonation 😂
What made all the Elliott bits so great, is that you never knew what character he'd be doing from one appearance to the next. These "Jack Hanna" bits are intermixed in 1986 with his "Marv Albert" bits, the "Regulator Guy", Gerry Mulligan's son "Kevin", and probably some others. This gave the show an element of randomness that made you want to tune in every night back then.
Early to mid Letterman was must see tv for me. Chris, Larry Bud, Dave’s ‘running out of the studio to handle some bidness’ bits, lots of stuff I’m forgetting probably.
As a Columbus resident for many years (and frequent zoo guest) I love these as much as real Jack’s appearances. ❤
“I’m not that good with animals” lol.
He had air holes for the monkey shampoo ..
Short compilation, but two extremely funny bits. Chris Elliott could make Dave not just laugh, but cackle.
Dave was a big fan of Chris, which is why he appeared so often on the show. He had been a writer on the show from 1982-1988 (he apparently wrote some stuff for a couple of episodes in 1980 as well) Remember Cabin Boy? Dave made one of his rare movie cameos as Earl Hofert, the "Old Salt" of the fishing village.
I've always been a fan of Chris. I actually met him at a Taco Bell in Norwalk, CT back in 2006 or 2007. Nice guy.
One of many times Dave could just throw out some soft balls and let Elliott take over for five minutes. I have seen this segment at least 10 times and it still makes me laugh out loud.
Wow! The cat playing table tennis was the future of the internet! Every time I watch these old episodes I remember watching them the first time and how different my life was back then. Sometimes it seems like a million years ago.
Of course the cat touched the net so ahem no point.
Chris Elliot is one of my all-time favorite comedians.
Chris Elliot is f**king hilarious.
Yeah - and we've all seen talk shows too, pal! LOL Greatest line ever!
I liked the Chris and Tonya dance!
If you’re interested in true comedic genius, look no further than the incredible Chris Elliot!
this was the soul great thing about the 80's, haha
it was announced last week that jack hanna is suffering from dementia. best wishes to the man who brought so many laughs to late night in the 80s.
Compilation on its way hopefully by next week.
A Hanna/Albert mash-up, genius!
Yeah, well, we've all seen talk shows too, pal.
Another gem Don. Your channel is the only thing that keeps me hangin' on.
lol.sad
@@rosskstar You got that right. It's pretty scary. I hope you are doing well.
@@KrazeeClark "As you see these things occurring, lift your heads up as your deliverance is getting near." - Christ
So yea, i'm feeling stoked actually - a lot of the time at least.
"Seek Jehovah while he may be found, call to him while he is near."
Start learning and def start praying to Jah.
Christendom's churches are a dead end. They don't know Jehovah at all - they teach that Jesus is God Almighty and are therefore completely alienated from their creator. Don't be that guy. They've fallen for satan's counterfeit.
Get a bible study with a Witness. You'll see this really is an incredible time to be alive and witness what's happening before God's Kingdom takes over ruling the earth.
This system is going to crash and burn. No more USA soon, hello UN - for a tiny while at least.
Woof. Hope you're doing better now.
Its a Madagascar Jalapeno 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I like the Marv Albert at the end there. Haha
Yes!
yes! ohhhhh, what a great marv albert... yes....
Binging Chris Elliot videos.
Is this the reward my toils have wrought?!
4:17 to 4:37 Dave asks about Tonya..Chris saying under his breath "I know you.."
Chris Elliot was ahead of his time this man is a legend .. timing and Delivery is on point, what's really crazy is for you to look at the fact that Will ferril stole material from this man
At least spell Will’s name correctly. He’s his own level of greatness. SNL, his numerous hilarious Conan appearances, and Anchorman. His only fault is being a USC alum/fan. 😅
These still hold up!
Another epic compilation!
All of 12 minutes! :)
So great!
I hope Chris wins an Oscar for best original screenplay in the 2050's
When he's in his nineties?😄That would be awesome.
Thank you.
Chris got all the glory but Tonya did all the work behind the scenes.
I suspect Tanya (the elusive Chris MacLeod) is a professional dancer, perhaps even a Rockette. I wish there was more of her.
The good ole days
Awesomesauce
thank you once again don!
Very clever outro music... by The Animals, of course!
Haha, at the beginning..."Thursday Cher will be here...". I bet that was the episode where Cher said she wasn't sure if she wanted to be interviewed by Dave, and Dave asks her "now why is that? You heard I was..." then Cher interjects "An Asshole..." and Dave smiles and laughs. Something like that. Classic moment.
*straight face* "it's made out of monkeys"
thanks Don Giller good stuff
So funny! Peter Jackson should visually process every every Letterman.
No Madagascar Jalapenos were harmed in the taping of the first segment.
I laughed my ass off when Chris and Tonya suddenly started dancing for no reason.
Why Dave and Chris didn't stay together for all of Dave's career is beyond me. I get that stuff happens, but it would have been great to have Chris's work for another two decades.
Chris was on LS many times in skits with Gerard Mulligan.
@@dongiller I know, and those guys were good together too, but I've always wondered why Chris didn't stay with the show longer, or a lot longer, or even until the end. Yes, he had the failed sitcom, and the movie, and other stuff in recent years, and I"m sure he was trying to move on and establish himself and do new stuff, but he always seemed to be Dave's fave, and they were a great team. There isn't an issue of a falling out, because of course Chris still did very sporadic appearances until the end.
@@johnpelletier7641 Failed sitcom? YOUR JEALOUSLY IS DEAFENING! Take it down a notch.
@@snowmonkey8154 ? I loved Get A Life. It was canceled. That is what is meant by failed. I love Chris Elliott. I think I already mentioned that I love Chris and Dave. Not sure what your trip is.
comic genius
I like Tanya
Madagascar jalapeno, LOL
Rastrafarian Snow Leopard near the end....
jalapeno... like the pepper? jalapeno like the pepper?? .....like the pepper???
Doctor Pepper?!??!
"...shoveling the crap"
Rastafarian snow leopard. I’m dying
At 9:59 Dave literally cackles... I've never heard him laugh so hard
YES!
Thanks a ton for all the Chris Elliott collections. Is there a Chris Elliott Jr. collection in the future? That would be pretty great.
Yes, planning on it.
you sir, as they say in the Midwest, are the coolest. thank you
where the hell's tonya?" 3:51 lol
What's the music that Tanya and Chris are dancing to?
Rolling Stones - “Bitch”
@@dongiller Thanks, I appreciate it! I thought it sounded like them.
Madagascar Jalipanio
Did Chris Elliott ever work with his father, Bob Elliott of Bob and Ray?
They co-wrote a book in 1989, and Bob played Chris's dad in "Get a life."
Don Giller Thanks.
I remember that show with Bob clearly, now I have that REM Orange Crush song stuck in my head.
@@TS-qq7vr actually the theme song for "Get a Life" was 'Stand" off the same album, Green. Or maybe you were thinking of "Orange Crush."
More tonya
I liked Chris, but I just had to fast forward to the “exotic animals” to get a laugh.
Earlier Dave was the best..
Lmao
Who was Chris MacLeod?
So, who is Tanya?
ID’d in the description.
Kinda like John Candy's "Fishin' Musician". Hosts a fishing show but hates the taste of fish.
Or maybe a Johnny Graham collection
And this as well, but I first want to digitize his source and add it to the collection.
Will Ferrell would later steal this bit. I think it was Conan. He came out with a house cat. What a thief.
He did it shamelessly on Stephen Colbert:
ua-cam.com/video/8OtMq2s0TyM/v-deo.html
He also ripped off Chris' 'Johnny Graham' character:
ua-cam.com/video/Tw_3nqVEEos/v-deo.html
And recycled it as 'Barney Culp' on SNL:
ua-cam.com/video/FVHEU3VoHE8/v-deo.html
Will Ferrell did the same bit 30 years later on Stephen Colbert
Its nice how everything is scripted there is no chance of anybody mistaking his sentences.
He's not really doing Jack Hanna.
What!!!!!!!!!!!???!!!!???
@@jasonsabourin9547 - Hunh??!!!???!!!?!!!??
Well, suit yourself.
Thank you.
