Finally a video showing how to take it out. I had no low beam dealer said a little corrosion on fuse said he cleaned it up. All kinds of issues turned up, heat intermittent, no headlights, radio powering on and off. Decided to check fuse box closely and found that they did a hack job. They took pieces of paperclip and jammed it in socket with fuse and covered with dialectic grease. Pulled it out and cleaned up, put in new fuse lights worked. Lights not working again, pushed sideways on fuse and lights on. They must have stretched socket when they did paperclip thing so grabbed a fuse box at wreckers cleaned it up like new and I'm going to swap it out. Your video showed what's underneath and how to separate it safely. Thanks a bunch
Thanks for this video! I have traced an open circuit in my low beams/DRLs to somewhere downstream of the fuses, and this is the next step for me to figure out where the issue is to get my headlights working again. UA-camrs like yourself are lifeblood for DIYers like me!
I wish everybody was this pleasant when they messaged me back, but most people complained that they didn’t understand what I was talking about…. I guess it makes sense to some but not all but I appreciate you taking the time to write this message. It means a great deal to me thank you thank you so much.
I just wanted to thank you. I had to replace the fuse box on my 2014 gmc sierra 1500 because my horn wasn't working. It turns out, the fuse box has a printed circuit board built into it that controls different functions on the truck, including the horn. Thanks again
I'm chasing down electrical Gremlins in a 2009 Suburban. This helps alot.
Thank you.
If everyone else can do it, u can too 💯
Great Video - THANKS! All our connectors stayed connected and we were looking for non-existent releases not realizing we could just pull them out! Thanks for the help!
Glad it was helpful
Very helpful video! I just installed fog lights in a 2013 Sierra, and I didn't know how to get the junction block off the bottom of the fuse box. Thanks!
Very helpful, truly appreciate your time!!
Thank You Clay, well explained and demonstrated. Have a great day!
Wild in thank you so much I greatly appreciate it welcome to the Channell we’re very happy to have you
Thanks , helped a lot ,so glad you guys are here for us confused ones
Exactly what I need to see. Extremely helpful!
That’s awesome to hear Keith thank you for letting me know I very much appreciate it
Thanks for showing the underside of the block. You just saved me some time, and I am quite appreciative.
Thank you definitely helped
Thanks Clay much appreciated😊
Simple after watching this. Thanks
very, very helpful. thank you!
Appreciate the help!
Hello Clay; Thanks for your willingness to help. I own a 2008 GMC Sierra 2500HD Gas Engine Pickup Truck. Of course, it is the newer body style with a completely different dash. Not like the early 2007 and earlier GM bodies/dashes. I have not found a video on where to find the location of the Turn Signal Relay on my truck. Which I think needs to be replaced. Because the right front turn signal lights [two bulbs] does not work. Right turn signal flashes rapidly. Right rear turn signal works/flashes. I can hear the relay clicking when I take the cover off the engine compartment large fuse block, with either turn signal on; or 4-way flashers on. When I used a hose up to my ear [to pinpoint the intensity of sound], the clicking was slightly louder at the rear and top-rear of this large fuse block. Daytime Running Lights work on right front. But not turn signal. I have replaced the two bulbs. I have checked them. Both filaments are good in both bulbs [NEW]. Strange thing; When I turn on either left or right turn signal, or 4-way flashers, then I can hear the flasher clicking sound in the driver's side stereo/radio speaker. But not in the right speaker. I have looked under the dash on the driver's side. But, I do not see any black box that looks like a Turn Signal Relay. I have removed the lower panel under the steering column. But, I find nothing. I hope that you can help me with this. WHERE IS THE TURN SIGNAL RELAY LOCATED ON THIS TRUCK? Thanks. Robert.
Nice thanks been looking for a video like this
Thank you, actually helpful!!
Thank you so much I greatly appreciate you taking the time to let me know I wish you the best have a great day
Thanks bud. Appreciated.
Thank you brother 🙏🏿
Absolutely you’re very welcome. I’m very happy to have folks like you hear that. Appreciate what I do. Thank you very much.
Thank you
This was a super video. Thanks for sharing. How about the removal of the same on a 2002 GMC Envoy 4.2L engine fuse box? Is this video the same for my Envoy? Thanks again and God bless.
Hey Clay, The pins protruding on bottom side of fuse box, are they the fuses and relays or are they pins attached to block. I am needing to replace my cooling fan relay connections, as they seem to not make full contact to connections so the 2013 Silverado overheats. Fans come on when I push the relays down but the arcing shows on the relay pins.
Is this fuse box harness separate from the engine harness or do I have to buy a full engine bay harness 07 gmc sierra WT 4.8 v8 thanks
Hi Clay, just finished watching the video and it was quite informative. Reason I am writing is that while checking the engine fuse box, as I am trying to run down some electrical issues, I discovered a heavy gauge wire hanging behind the fuse box. The end shows significant corrosion and most likely rotted off it’s connector. The other end is attached to a post on the firewall which holds several ground connections. Does this cable attach to the fuse box? Didn’t see in video as you stopped before showing rear of box and associated cables.
You’re certain that the other end it attaches to a bunch of grounds? If that’s the case, ground it out near the fuse box, but I would recommend taking the fuse box apart and looking and seeing if you can find where that wire broke at because it should not be hanging down you should be able to notice it by the corrosion around, whatever it connected to
and does doing this require some kind of programming?
Can you please let me know where the harness goes connect to the fuse box
Clay, thanks for the video. It's not exactly what I was trying to find, but it came the closest. I am preparing to change the positive battery cable on a 2003 Chevy Silverado 1500 and I see 1 of the 2 cables disappears under the electrical distribution center cover, presumably to power the bus. Can the cover be removed without actually removing the fuse box?
Hey Jim I do think it’s possible to remove the cover from the bottom without removing the whole fuse box but I’ll bet once you start working on yours it’ll be simpler just to remove the whole fuse box the way I did I hope that information is helpful for you thank you for the kind words have a great day
I tried this before watching, and _all_ of the harness connectors stuck to the block. Now, I can’t get it back in: Something near the driver’s seat (possibly that big post that looks like it cuts all power) is not marrying up. What can I do?

Your video of the GMC fuse box removal, is there a way to separate the fuse box so I can repair a broken connection?
Yes but unfortunately I will not be able to edit out the video quick enough to get it to you but if you look at it closely you will see that it comes apart fairly easily with a couple of screwdrivers and bending the tabs back
Do you know what the positive and negative wires and plugs in next to the brake booster is
I'm trying to figure out the same thing. The large gray connector, right? I have it, and it is blunt cut on the other end. Did you ever determine what it was?
I have a problem with the third brake light staying on. Its a 2013 GMC Sierra 1500. I have replaced the the pedal switch already and it still stays on (not all the time). I was told a relay that is non serviceable and I will need to change out my whole under hood use box or the BCM. Just wanted see if you have come across this or any recommendations?
Hey Todd good evening that’s a Interesting problem I’ve never heard of that of course we could cut the wire to the third eye or take the bulb out. But that really won’t solve the problem what I will do is I will look that up tomorrow. And see if I can find a solution for that if you don’t hear back from me reach out to me on Clays A/C and Auto Repair on Facebook Messenger just in case I forget but I’ll try not to I do have a busy schedule tomorrow
my 2011 started with the fog lights staying on. I pulled the fuse. Next the radiator fan. Replaced the relay box on the fuse panel, and the thermostat. Nope, into the mechanic it went. $750 later and a new fuse panel its fixed. Its a POS "Kalex" circuit board problem in there on mine, the part comes with all the fuses and is one piece $350 I was charged for the part.
Can you tell me where the Auxiliary Electric Cooling Fan Fuse Block is on a 2006 Avalanche. It says it is next to the underhood fuse block, under the hood on the drivers side. But, I'm not seeing it. Help please!! Needing to replace one of the fan motor relays
NVM. I found it!! :)
Where can I buy a replacement fuse box for my 2008 GMC Sierra 1500?
Car-part.Com
Hi... I've got a 2018 Silverado 1500 and is like to tap into that fuse block for the tp2 (aux battery option)and need a 12v constant and a 12v switched. Do you know which ones I could use?
OK that’s an easy one look at your box from the top and you will see where there are square fuse is missing and one of them will have post sticking up and that will be 12 V use your test flight just to doublecheck
There empty just so you can do What you’re looking for
does this video apply to the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
I can’t say for certain that it does but it’s going to be extremely similar and if you were just replacing the fuse box and as long as there’s not a computer attached to it that needs to be replaced as well you shouldn’t have any problems they’re just circuits and fuses
I would like to know if undoing that will it reset the computer
If it resets the computer it will reset it to factory and will not be a problem but generally inside the computer there’s also a battery that keeps its memory it won’t do anything that doesn’t allow the vehicle to start again
I have a 00 gmc yukon Denali that has a corrosion issue. How do I go about fixing this problem
Remove the fuse box and disassemble the box clean the corrosion up and put the box back together
Shucks, was hoping to see the procedure to open the lid !
Well I hope you’re not serious but just in case you are you lift it up …… do you see any bolts or screws holding it down?
Although it wouldn’t surprise me I don’t know you personally but there’s people out there that would have wanted to watch this video for that reason because they didn’t look at it for 10 seconds
What year is the truck in the video? Im trying to take the fuse box out of an 04 silverado
2007 able. Wish you the best of luck just keep patients and examine it and I’m certain you can get it out
Should i unplug the battery before doing this?
Does that really need to be told to you or are you just trying to be funny. Either way good luck
Where do you buy fuse blocks? I cant find one for my cooling fan fuse block they dont exists 🤔🤔
Sorry about not getting back to you sooner.... if you were looking for a part that you know where is at on the automobile stop by a local salvage yard and ask them if they have any of that type of vehicle if they do. Then you can asked to show them which part you need and I’m sure they will sell it to you
@@sharpcarco Word.. I went to closest scrap yard but only found the part I needed to have the same issues as the part I was trying to replace. but luckily I searched for like 3 hours and found it online 😁
I'm having a problem with my CD player. There's no CD in the radio is off and key is out and it sounds like my CD player is trying to run. I can not get to go off.
Good morning Amanda. There’s a sensor in there that senses the CD unfortunately it’s probably cheaper to just replace the radio then it will be to repair the problem. Wish I had better news for you Amanda but the good thing is they’re not very expensive at the salvage yard and they generally don’t have that problem so replacing it is probably the best course of action they are not that hard to replace so you may be able to do it yourself there is several videos on the Internet.
You can take it to a local stereo shop and they will replace it easy probably somewhere right around $150 if you do the work yourself you can probably get a used unit at the salvage yard for about $50-$65 I do not have video of replacing one of them, I don’t think but I will certainly make one the next time I have one in there thank you for the great idea God bless and have a best of days
@@sharpcarco thank you I pulled the fuse cleaned the dust off put back in it seems to of worked. I live on a dirt road in Arkansas these crazy things happen. Thanks again have a blessed day.
Do the fuse box go bad
Yes
Your video hasn't helped YET
Hoping you can help,.I have a 2006 GMC Sierra 2500 had gas vortex
Fuel pump relay is not making contact correctly.
If I jump wire pins 87&30,new fuel pump runs
Relay isn't snug plugging it in
Can u help?
Your fuse box looks different
My wife's 2004 Chevy Tahoe fuse box looks identical to my 2006 GMC Sierra your gray handle tabs on your left and right side that pop up I don't have any of that
That's not my 2004 3500's fuse box. oh well.
Sorry about that.
What is your issue? I have an 04 1500 4x4 with ~194k when I had the problems I found my issue being a bad Red Power wire beneath Fuse Box under the Hood.My issues were "Trans in limp mode, no ac, abs light, parking brake light, trans was in limp mode, and lastly there were 5 check engine lights all for the trans sensors.
DISCONNECT YOUR BATTERY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD while working on the fuse box..
Pull apart the fuse box. You have to unbolt the fender bolts and brace mount. Pull up on the plastic cover for the fusebox. (Careful of the window washer hoses I broke all mine on accident...) You will see a few bolts. I dont recall if they need to be removed or not. But there are little tabs you can push to physically pull up on the whole Fuse Box Panel. Under there Is a white 68 pin connector. Now there will be a total of 5 connectors with lots of wires. Only mess with the white one with a bunch of wires going into it. That is where my issue was.
I bought an identical fusebox that wasnt burnt. I replaced the wire with an identical wire off an 04 Yukon xl at my local scrap yard. I Also got the 68 pin connector. I recommend doing the whole harness. I checked recently and the cable I replaced is slowly starting to burn up again after 10 months. The fuse box was only damaged on the underside. From the top view with all the fuses it looked brand new. And the IGN 40 amp fuse I think, one of them. Had power at the fuse box. But if you back probe the ignition switch power wires you'll find that the wire has no power AFTER the fuse. That is why the fuse shows as good. The ignitor switch is not the issue here.
Also it's kinda a pain because of you cross the similar colored wires you'll throw off things. When I first got it running again everything was working but the trans was In limp mode. I swapped 2 orange wires and it fixed it.
I personally think the only right way to fix it is to replace the whole dash harness. My best guess at the reason this happens is the gauge wire is to small, and to much power draw. I think the Blower Motor is drawing to much power. but this is all speculative. I'm a redneck hillbilly on the internet.
