I really like someone to do a follow up on this guy in 10 years to see if his training harms his hands in any way. Better yet, they should interview his master or grandmaster. This is interesting. I'm thinking if this is worth learning.
repeated blows to a boney area of the body cause micro fractures that fill in eventually. When these fractures are repaired they are usually less porous and more dense than before which allows people who have tempered their bodies to break stacks of bricks. I've seen it done with elbows and knees with no obvious physical change, but I suppose that could be the reason his hand has become club-like.
This way of training is very "external". You hit something with a certain part of your body until it's like a club. It takes great dedication to train in this manor, but it take a lot of your daily practice time. So if you just do the one hand it becomes a super weapon of sorts. The down side is that if someone breaks that arm in a fight you've wasted all those hours of training.
Using the ointment after training is not unusual, and maybe he did use it before his training as well. The bag is filled with iron material. He trains everyday for one hour. One side of his hand 800 to a 1000 times. Altogether 3000 times, which makes about an hour training. If can't eat the bitterness then you won't have the power!
@div545 I don't know for certain, but I think it's safe to assume that he's an advanced Iron Palm practitioner. In which case, the bags would be filled with either iron shot, or large rocks mixed with gravel. That's usually the case in advanced Iron Palm training.
The breaking is very good. Very impressed with the finger strength! But I dont understand the condition only 1 hand deal. A one handed martial artist? What if you were caught offside forward? I'd like to know your thoughts
How many years training before he could break first red brick ? Is iron palm bag gravel or steel shots ? What type of Kung Fu does he train in ? How can I see this video with English subtitles ?
Hello I do iron palm mung beans. So heard from this kung fu instructor that he trains in only iron palm mung beans. He says that doing gravel or steel shots can cause injury and is unncessary . For external iron body do you recommend just stay on mung bean canvas bag stick ? or advance to gravel and then steel shots?
This is very true, many people who subject their hands and other limbs to repeated blows often develop arthritis as a result. This is caused by a buildup of calcium around joints that develop in order to protect against blows. "Iron Palm" is very dangerous, theoretically because of this.
The thickness of his hand is normal, after this training. He is over doing it a little, but it's the body's normal reaction to grow more tissue on the stressed parts of his hand. It's not swelling from being broken. He says he trains an hour a day
When I was younger, I believe this. Now that I'm older, I begin to doubt that. I'm not doubting these people could do what they demonstrate. I'm doubting if they have been hurting themselves. It's human biology. We should interview these people when they get (much) older.
I'm not sure if the white block this dude breaks here is granite. The sound it makes when clashing the floor gives the impression that the block is made of another softer material. Btw, Are these bricks the same type of bricks found in general breaking demonstrations? I mean, these bricks are more crunchy and breakable than normal building bricks are they? Can anyone tell me, thx!
Guy in red shirt. What level of iron palm is he on ? Beans gravel or steel shots ? When he 70 something if he doesn't break bricks will he still do external iron palm ? Does he do external iron body ? What style Kung Fu dies he train in ?
Would love to see a REAL IP competition here too. No trick bricks or crap like we see all over youtube, but the real stuff. A competition where the bricks and slabs are supplied by the host and are true bricks and slabs. That would be most interesting indeed.
Look around 25 seconds in, that is his hand before breaking stuff. It looks thick, but not freakish. Around 2:25,his trained hand is darker, i.e. bruised. I dont think the discoloration is from liniment or rust. As for the way they chop, it goes with their training. Most iron palmists train with only enough tension to maintain the position of the hand, unlike Karate practitioners who actively tense up. Imagine the chopping ability or a karate stylist who trains with iron palm liniments.
Oh yeah, and yes, some people will still bang on their hand when it is broken, even some iron palm practitioners. It can help (a little) with the healing process, breaking up the stagnant crud in the hand. They still have to use medicine on the hand. Usually you'd lightly hit a bean bag if injured. But this is only done depending on the way you train, and some methods wouldnt work well with this. Notice on the chops to the bag, he's not really hitting hard.
This is really amazing..! I just need to know if its really important to have this SPECIAL remedy to be applied to the hand..? Just trying to avoid the myth and mystery... I use balms and ointments which I can easily buy at any drug store... The main purpose of these remedies is to recover skin blod circulation, treat bruises and micro-traumas of soft tissues and bones, soften the palm skin... Am I right..??? Can I do with it..???
You should look into Nei Chi, or Nei Gong. It training the whole body simultaneously. Fingers, hands, forearms, elbows, shoulders, head, back.... all at the same time while making other peoples punches bounce off of you as well.
Hello Robert. Is this external training you speaking of external iron body as well as iron palm ? Is it fine to stay on gravel iron palm bag as well as gravel bag for iron body instead of going to steel shots ?
II've also broken brick, and it is very difficult. I saw one of my masters break 5 that were lined up on a table without anything to make the break easy (ie holders etc...).
@cryingsun Thank you for your comment. Actually my question was about ointment to be applied, not about variety of schools and methods. I use the same conditioning method to harden strike surfaces of my body which is the base method for ANY real fighting system. My interest was NOT about good, or bad practice, proper or impromer schools. I wanted to know about REMEDIY is being applied in shown video NOT how to find a proper school..!
How can I see this video in English ? Does this guy in red shirt who does iron palm training on gravel iron palm bag ? Or ? Does he also practice Kung Fu and do external iron body training ? When he 60 plus will he still train in iron palm etc ?
Im pretty sure that those were slabs of granite, that he broke his hand, and that was the source of the swelling. Hard to tell the sequence of things, because the video seems to go back and fourth between the interview. But I bet if it was translated, you'd probably hear him saying that he broke it. It wasnt that swollen at the beginning, before he was breaking stuff.
the first guy's hand is really a little bit scary. Everything from the wrist down is huge. Is that normal for iron palm? I like these two people, the girl especially in that they seem to use a very slick chop, which is different from most of the stuff you see in America.
In the system I train your hands become more solid yet no swelling like that, no callouses, no damage. We do exercises and breathwork that sends more blood to the hands before, during and after. We do not need any dit da jow type liniments or ointments. We can use them though it is not taught to use anything outside of us apart from the objects used to condition and strike. We also do a lot of "Pai dar" body on body conditioning. These are great feats though not worth if you cant use your damaged hands later in life.
I don't know what you guys are thinking but I don't believe your hand HAS to turn like that to break like him. My Sifu breaks stuff like that and his hand only recently turned all big and pink/purple...because his hand split open on the hammer side and there was a lot of blood. Ever since that injury he had one big hand. This guy might have went through the same thing.
Here is the trick for those want to impress your friends. Soak the bricks in acid for one week. Remove it from the acid solution and soak it in water for a couple days to dilute to concentration of acid on the surface of the bricks. After that you can break 4,5,or 6 easy.
It's old version iron palm...I never imagined I can see this! Nowadays people who train their palms want to keep their palms look as usual, but it is said old version iron palm makes palms "useless", which I think refers to this situation....the palm becomes too thick and big to do some delicate hand works such as painting.
Wow. I'd love to see this video with subtitles, or perhaps translated. Anyway, heres my two cents. The guy can break, quite well. But Im pretty sure that that short bit of him doing his workout was with a broken hand. Your hand should not swell that much when doing Iron Palm training. Also, he really didnt use much liniment. And nothing before training, so far as I could tell, which is generally a very bad idea. Was that granite or marble? Ouch. I wonder whats in his IP formula....
@theScytheofGod i agree. i've been doing iron palm for a few years now, and it really takes time and dit da jow for it to properly develop. and hey, i can still draw pretty well with my hand :D
michael atienza the thickness of his wrists forearm and hand comes not only from beating. But also wrist and fingertip pushups. Something non-traditional martial artist fail to understand.
yes it does go that big because he only trains with that hand...my master told me about his sifus brothers hands were so huge that he hid them under his sleeves and my master got the pleasure of seeing these hands of his when he told my sifus future...he got to experience the power of this person he slapped the marble table 10-12inch thick and it vibrated like it was going to brake...Im saying to you all keep training and dont give up..work hard
In china all the material is supplied by the host in these competitions. You can see more vids by checking out extreme kung fu qi gong on tiger claw's website, no I'm not an advertiser LOL but I've been to China here and there
Also, The slabs he breaks are much thicker, and the fact that he breaks stone, (looks like granite) with the back of his hand, well, 2+2=4.Iron Palm guys dont generally break granite, and any back of the hand break is much more distructive, because there is less padding there. Thats why its so impressive. Go slap granite, and you'll get what Im saying. Then you will all probably agree that he injured his hand, and thats why its so swollen.
the monks "cheat" as the narrator would have put it. They often put bricks on an edge, hold it w/ one hand, then break it. These aren't really the regular bricks you'd find in America either, so i'd imagine that's possible without any hand deformation. This guy breaks them 4 at a time, on top of each other, and on a completely flat surface. WAY harder.
@vvvvnewcreation Actually Thai boxers create whats called micro fractures in the shins which heal up and the bone ends up eventually growing far denser with skin callusing around the areas of impact. As for the pain? I have done it for years and I guess I have been accustomed to it. No nerve rerouting. This guy however....not sure what to say. I knew a few Iron Palm masters and they did this but none have a hand anything like that. He may be going overboard :O
Drunkenmaster, Do YOU train Iron Palm? I do, Ive trained 2 styles. Ive heard the "rust" thing before. All the experts, friends and teachers of mine who have 25+ years experience in Iron Palm say the rust has nothing to do with it. In fact, every expert I've ever talked to says that the rust would be really bad for you. However, I once read about bruises being oxidized during the healing process, so maybe there's something to it. I'd love to hear your response. Maybe rust is worth trying.
Well, I am 19 in college no need to turn into an asshole over a simple disagreement. Understand this: Taekwondo is my hobbie. I love doing it. It is a skill that takes time to master. It forces me to stay fit and live healthy. In addition to doing something that i love, it teaches me how to defend myself. A skilled martial artist can win against anyone who has never trained before. So you can try to hate on those that are actually learning how to do it, or stop being so immature.
I'll subtitle it and post the new clip over the weekend. He makes no mention of injury. All he says is, "Look and you can see how much thicker the trained hand is. "
@gman13121 I've read about wolfs law but I wonder how much bone mass you can actually gain. I'd really like to see an xray of that guys hand. whatever he's done its pretty bad ass.
@dejstil1974 Fuckin' aye. I don't practice Chinese wushu, but I have a healthy respect for it. I'm an amateur contortionist (barely a beginner), but whenever I do the splits, or put one of my feet behind by head, people naturally assume I'm in pain, or hurting myself doing that. They don't understand the natural progression applied in athletics and wushu (albeit in different forms depending upon what you train in). Peace = )
@dejstil1974 Takayuki Kubota is the only living soke alive still, ( inventor of complete japanese style karate system practiced world wide) and one of the only to obtain the 10th dan (highest rank black belt) in the world. and he's been doing iron palm training since he was like 10 and he's like in his 70's or 80's or something now and his hand and shins and everything are as hard as steel. no problems what so ever.
that's weird. why does he only train one hand and not the other? his hand is so big, he probably lost a lot of dexterity in his right arm. Even iron palm method with dit da jow, and your fist still looks like this? crazy.
And as far as a skilled martial artist beating up someone who's never trained, here's the deal: If the two people are about equal size, strength, speed, etc..., then the martial artist will crush his opponent. If the opponent is somewhat stronger faster etc, the martial artist will still win. Only if the opponent is in REMARKABLY better shape than the martial artist will he be able to win, and even then, if the martial artist is REMARKABLY talented, the MA will, again, still win
Can someone please tell me why he only trains one hand?... Isn't it the norm to train with both hands... There must be some king of side effects from training like this...
That's why I'm saying Chinese iron palm are real breakers, and they need to come to American and show to those fake American karate that they are a fake karate breakers, and karate don't really have the real iron palm hands,..
Thats why I said the lady at the end of the clips have a better technic. In iron palm, you need to take the sand bag & medical along wherever you go. And you have to train offen to maintain the conditioning. The lady palm technic, you can train anywhere anytime with just your palm & mind. With no visible swallen hand is an hidden weapon. see?
Towards the end of the clips, the 16 yrs old lady have a more impressive & superior palm technic. Solf, powerful and do not have unusual visible swelling palm.
My point is that he totally forgot to train the second half (real combat techniques). Besides, one handed training and physical deformation are sympthom of wrong training, not of a learned skill.
holy mother, that dude was breaking marble, i can do bricks and concrete, and i can do fire-hardened bricks (only one at a time though), but i wouldnt even try marble.
That's not a hand anymore, that's a wrecking ball
I really like someone to do a follow up on this guy in 10 years to see if his training harms his hands in any way. Better yet, they should interview his master or grandmaster. This is interesting. I'm thinking if this is worth learning.
This is GREAT video..! Can someone tell me what is these hitting pads filled with..? Gravel..? Iron shots..??
my friend when are you going to reopen your site also I enjoy all your iron palm breaking.

Wow, the real IP, finally on youtube.
Amazing find and that the PRC is broadcasting this and that thus guy is willing to go public, just amazing.

so if he does that to someones rib
crackkkk and internal bleeding right?
your skills are very good I like it.
Рука кувалда))) Чем Ты набил мешок? И сколько времени в день Ты тренируется? Спасибо.
ive seen them do it to normal red bricked, but yes they do put them on an edge. still, i wonder if they could like slice a collar bone or something.

Is he on steel shot iron palm bag
why is his hand so thick? is it a callous, scar tissue or bone?
When he holds his 2 hands together he chuckles and comments that his right hand is "twice as thick" as the left.
well granite, but why they put tofu under? whats the point of that? (again...the big hand guy...wow...)

@pwolfwithorns The idea is to break the slab on top without smashing the tofu underneath.

I have to comment though ,that without chi , there is no such thing as life ...
Chi is the reason we live and that birds can fly .
does anyone of the type of dit da jow he was using for this type of conditioning?
the monks "cheat" as the narrator would have put it. They often put bricks on an edge, hold it w/ one hand, then break it. @yoshyoka
There are, however, martial arts who have no defined external injuries but continue to develop terrible arthritis into old age.
Fortunately, iron palm trained hands DO NOT need to look like this and rarely do.
Postmodernist Wushu. He doesnt even discuss chi theory. He just builds his hands to look like clubs.
How do you get this video in English ?
no idea. they are not saying much very interesting anyways. if this was me 5 years ago I'd probably translate it but I have a real job now. lol
@@bailewen ..
Still it"s fine too work.
I out still could translate main points
It is interesting video and the training
what is the thing about punching over the tofu? (at the end of the video, the girl)...This guy is just impresive. Real Sh!t, soo damm good.

i been training shoalin in england for abit the iron skills
not mastered any yet getting close very close
lol. Sorry about that. I got swamped with other projects and forgot about this one. :P
I bet he can't use his iron palm againt a Nokia 3300
dang how lond do they hit those sand bags man his hand is puffy
Now thats what im talking about... real kung fu!!!! awesome to behold :D
不錯不錯!不過最後的女孩啊~在豆腐上打碎石板真是很厲害,而且手也好像跟其他的沒分別
look at his palm! I'd like to see an xray for his bone structure and how thick his bones are.
I would have thought he'd want to build-up both hands as opposed to one.
I'll subtitle it and post the new clip over the weekend. He makes no mention of injury. All he says is, "Look and you can see how much thicker the trained hand is. "
reallife hellboy
@gman13121 I've read about wolfs law but I wonder how much bone mass you can actually gain. I'd really like to see an xray of that guys hand. whatever he's done its pretty bad ass.

hahaha that gigantic hand is so cartoonishly-funny
Isn't it strange that he only trained one hand? you would think to do both unless there is some kind of side effect to it.
And as far as a skilled martial artist beating up someone who's never trained, here's the deal:
If the two people are about equal size, strength, speed, etc..., then the martial artist will crush his opponent. If the opponent is somewhat stronger faster etc, the martial artist will still win. Only if the opponent is in REMARKABLY better shape than the martial artist will he be able to win, and even then, if the martial artist is REMARKABLY talented, the MA will, again, still win
lol at his hand, wtf man, too much XD
Can someone please tell me why he only trains one hand?... Isn't it the norm to train with both hands... There must be some king of side effects from training like this...
Those are are serious bricks. His fist is just one big callous.
With no visible swallen hand is an hidden weapon. see?
@gareththomasnz
If you ever read ancient Chinese Kung Fu books, you will find the original iron palm is like this.
it gets to 0:28 seconds and stops?
Towards the end of the clips, the 16 yrs old lady have a more impressive & superior palm technic. Solf, powerful and do not have unusual visible swelling palm.
that hand looks sick :(
My point is that he totally forgot to train the second half (real combat techniques). Besides, one handed training and physical deformation are sympthom of wrong training, not of a learned skill.
holy mother, that dude was breaking marble, i can do bricks and concrete, and i can do fire-hardened bricks (only one at a time though), but i wouldnt even try marble.
Your Sifu can break 4 bricks without spaces?
6:40 is simply awesome!
Ahahhaa, Fist of the north star, LMFAO :D . Ye, but I agree, he should be training his other hand aswell.
You're not supposed to hurt your hands with real iron palm; it's done slowly, gradually toughening your skin and bones with lots of dit da jow.
He may not train his left hand, because if he do this, his hearth will be very injuried!
Iron Palm = Right Hand!
