My life would be so incomplete without these Match Games Episodes. I love 😘 whoever had the Brilliant idea to Post these. 🤫 Don't tell my Blank. Gary still at it.🤦. 💖🤗💞🙂👋👣. Vee.
I just wish he would always have done one reading with a straight voice so we know everyone understands (including us watching almost 50 years later). Sometimes I really misunderstand some of what he’s saying… it could just be my ears though. But I did always like the impression.
Richard scores his 70th H/H match today! Both Jo Ann and Fannie are back this week with their great track record in the H/H match (will either be chosen this week?). Gary is 1 for 2, and Clifton is brand new to the game this week. Here's the updated leader board showing the 10 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: TIE: Orson Bean - 100% (3 wins in 3 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 100% (3 wins in 3 attempts). Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Betty - 50% (13 wins in 26 attempts). Fannie - 46.2% (6 wins in 13 attempts). Charles - 45.7% (16 wins in 35 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Richard - 35.9% (70 wins in 195 attempts). Bert - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). Brett - 32.1% (9 wins in 28 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 396, excluding the lost/missing episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")
It's always weird when when a game straddles the change of celebrities at the end of the week because the new celebs sometimes have to sit out the first question because the previous occupant of their chair already matched the contestant. Today Clifton and Jo Ann miss out on the first *two* questions. Since this is Clifton's very first appearance on MG, it's too bad he's getting off to such a slow start. Fortunately, the new champion calls on him for an audience match suggestion at 7:22 or else he'd have to wait until 12:41 to contribute anything to the show. Poor Jo Ann sits out entirely until 13:58.
Can you tell us more? What happened to her after the show? How's she doing today? Maybe she could leave a comment here about her experience on the show?
You can tell by this point that both Brett and Richard are over Gary. Judging by Brett's comment in this episode, and Richard's made a couple of comments here recently. And judging by Richard's expression, he finds Gary's antics at the beginning of the show childish and annoying. He was just not a good fit at all.
Gary up staging Gene was uncalled for and rude. I'm surprised they didn't boot him from the show. Because I sure would have. And Gary and Brett trying to out do each other for attention was awful and made me cringe. Can't wait for Charles to come back. We all loved him.
I think mostly Brett was just doing her usual shtick, but Gary kept tromping all over it. He doesn't abide by the most basic etiquette of his own profession.
Like I said in the last shows comment, are we going to have to put up with gary running around the set at the top of the show like a little idiot every episode? I can`t stand him.
Richard was pretty amazing with that. Clifton is pretty cute and looks nice in his shirt. Gary is just boring and gross. They should have kept Joann and dump Gary.
Gary had a lot of personal problems. I think for one, he had problems with fame and always being associated with Radar. That’s why he eventually left MASH. He could be a really great comedian, but you had to put a leash on him, otherwise he would just get out of control. He was a student of Charles Nelson Reilly, which may be why he was substituting for him.
@@kristabrewer6736 Gary stayed until the beginning of the eighth season. The series lasted another three seasons-eleven years total for a three year war.
Seriously! I honestly think that if he came to MG with his teddy bear and goofy hat from MASH and used some of his old lines, he would have gotten over so much better. Here, it just seems like he’s trying to one up everyone, while coming up flat on every occasion. The constant interrupting others is my personal biggest problem. You’d think as an actor he’d have better social timing… wait until someone else finishes their line, then it’s your turn.

And before she answered I was wondering why they didn't just hand her $100 and save time. Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory! She could fall in a bed of violets and come up smelling like sewage.
M.A.S.H. got that kind of award? It's an excellent show, but hardly a comedy. They could have done worse than Gary Burghoff, they could have gotten Alan Alda.
The first few seasons of M*A*S*H were focused on the comedy. Later seasons were more balanced, getting more drama and character development into the mix, making for a much better, deeper show. Go back and look at some of the early episodes and you will hardly recognize the show as we remember it from the bulk of its run.
Richard Dawson, went to far with his kisses, and no one said anything about it, society in those days was really putrid, he bullied the female contestants when they did not pick him. And they were almost scared to not pick him

Maybe they invited more but they refused. I dont think I would've done this show. They taped 5 a day. You'd be stuck there for 10 plus hours surrounded by cigarette smoking. You'd have to change in between every epidode. Who knows what they had to eat, but Gene always complained if they even had a mint while on the stage.
Fannie seems like she’d be fun to hang out with.

Brett actually ignores Gary a few times and I love it.
I think Charles is the reason Gary has the spot, wasn't he his teacher at one point. I'm surprised he didn't tell him how obnoxious he was tho
When Gary learns that a bit isn’t funny, he feels obligated to keep doing it.
