Unused Komodo Brothers Theme - Crash Bandicoot

- Long-time Crash Bandicoot fans probably know this, but for those of you who don't, the Komodo Brothers were originally going to be encountered in a boss fight in the first Crash Bandicoot game. It is unknown how was the fight going to be presented or where exactly would have taken place. Their design was made by the artist Joe Pearson, but sadly due to the hardware limitations of the Playstation 1, the characters ended up being pushed to the sequel Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, where they were redesigned by Charles Zembillas. On the other hand, an unique soundtrack piece for their boss fight was able to survive and it was released by the one and only composer of the game, Josh Mancell.
The credit for this video goes to Josh Mancell. This soundtrack comes directly from his personal SoundCloud page: / crash-bandicoot-komodo...
Josh Mancell's soundcloud page is amazing. So much good stuff there.
I love listening to each and every single one of his creations. I just hope he uploads more of the "unused" category.
By the way, remember when you proposed the idea of me making a video that will showcase all hidden lives in the Crash Bandicoot Trilogy? Well, I'm seriously thinking of doing it. Of course, first I will have to make sure that I know the locations of these lives and then videotape the whole thing.
Yes! It would be an interesting video. I don't know most of them... some are well hidden. Like one in the Crash Crush bonus. I found it on accident once... (www.twitch.tv/videos/6823120)
Oh, this one is one my favourite. I also discovered it accidentally couple of years ago. Even though my knowledge of the game wasn't at the degree it is now, I just felt something weird about the beginning of the Bonus Round, as if like the camera angle wasn't exactly in the correct place, as in a position which gives a hint, I don't know. I can't really explain it.
I feel like their boss fight was going to take place after the lab or in the cortex blimp before you fight cortex
The boss fight starts with them laughing while jumping and slashing their swords and as you proceed into the boas fight they start to throw their swords and you had to hit them when they are tired and they have share one health bar but you take them out one by one to win the boss fight
Wow, that is actually a very creative suggestion. I certainly would have enjoyed that.
Interesting...
This feels like a mix of parts from "Toxic Waste" and "Cortex's theme" from Crash 2.
Funny, given i've heard there was meant to be sewer level where you fought Tiny Tiger and Toxic Waste levels are somewhat closest to being titled as "sewer" levels.
Due to limitations however, i presume they were replaced with Pinstripe Potoroo.
What a shame.
A lot of things were scrapped due to the hardware limitations of the PS1. Nevertheless, the game turned out almost perfect (for its time). Plus we got the sewer-themed levels in Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back so I guess it's a win-win situation.
@@CrashFan95 Indeed.
Just like Nitrous Oxide didnt get in the OG CTR.
Im just glad that still these unused properties from these franchises are stamped for the internet to see and immortalize their existence.
Since everything from the betas and alphas or any sort of prototypes that is left out, is highly fascinating to talk about and explore or theorize :)
True, especially even when 20 years have passed already.
@@CrashFan95 and funnily enough, some games that have 20 years or more are still talked about to this day and something new is discovered.
Like Paper Mario N64.
People still are finding new stuff in game's code and all
I'd be cool if when the n.sane trilogy released,we got a paid dlc for like 10 bucks with Activision's reimagining of the scrapped boss fights of crash 1,and maybe add a scrapbook from naughty dog of crash 1 (like the scrapbook of CTR,where they have the progress of the game)
But now it's been like,3 years or something that the n.sane trilogy released so it's probably not happening
Idk where I've heard this one before but I didn't know that this was unused Komodo Brothers theme
Woah so this was Crash 1 soundtrack? wow
Perhaps it sounds familiar to you because it uses some of the instruments that can be heard in levels like Generator Room and Toxic Waste, hence my theory that the boss fight with the Komodo Brothers was going to take place somewhere in between these levels.
Considering the map the old crash 2 has for every level, clearly the Komodo bros boss fight was taken place on the second island where Ripper Roo was, but I'd like to think it's somewhere in the lower area of that island.
Judging by the instruments heard in this theme, I speculate that their boss fight was gonna take place in the third island, somewhere between/after Generator Room and Toxic Waste.
The problem with them being between those two would mean it would go Boss -> 1 level -> boss again. We know that Pinstripe was planned at this time as well. Irrelevant though, it was confirmed these would have fought in the temples so likely Island 2.
This Fan art looks like the concept for Crash of the Titans
Actually this is the original concept art for the Komodo Brothers, not a fan-made.
The designs they went with made better sense. But that was cool!
Yeah, there is always something special about the predecessor of a specific element in video games.
@@CrashFan95 Yep, those early stages can be very interesting.
Komodo Brothers were supposed to be encountered in treasure area at the temples in Crash 1.
Proof?
CrashFan95 The Crash Bandicoot Files How Willy The Wombat Sparked Marsupial Mania it’s in there. Details about development of Crash 1.
Also just kind of makes intuitive sense, since that's an area of the game with a long stretch of levels with no boss fight.
Thom Cote they should of put the Komodo Brothers in the game.
Rather sounds like a more fitting theme for Cortex, more so for the first 15 seconds
With that bass, indeed. Cortex's themes always seem to have such a note in them.
That's awesome to hear CrashFan95! Btw did the Komodo Brothers actually have game models created for Crash Bandicoot or were they purely concept until the sequel? Cause I remember in the scrapped cartoon cutscene you can see them.
Yes, they do appear in the scrapped cartoon cutscenes, and as far as I can tell, their design in the video is pretty much the same as in the picture that I used for this video. However, I have no information whether they have actual in-game models. If they do, the models must be hidden quite deep in the game's files.
CrashFan95 That's cool.
I wonder what their boss fight would be like in Crash 1? 🤔
Likewise. Hopefully one day we will be able to find out.
Komodo Moe it's look like King Koopa from Super Mario Bros. Super Show!?😮
A bit, yes.
They should have made a cartoon from Fox Kids, KidsWB or Cartoon Network?
Interestingly, there are scrapped cartoon cutscenes that were supposed to be in the first Crash Bandicoot game, but Sony disapproved of them because of their "3D agenda". They felt that a 2D cartoon would be out of place in a 3D platformer and it was never used. Other reasons for the cancellation are that it would affect the game's sales negatively and that it was majorly hated by the developers and producers alike.
What about Universal in Florida they should put in Crash Bandicoot with it!?
I don't know about that, but given how Crash Bandicoot's popularity has significantly increased in the last few years with his appearance in Skylanders: Imaginators, Skylanders the animated series, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and the rumoured project about a brand-new game, I think there might be a chance for the Series to receive an animation adaptation as well.
Sounds good but a bit generic, i am glad that naughty dog used a more energetic and epic song for the komodo bros, this theme reminds fancy pants background ost
0:48-0:53 dope as fuck
Indeed.
Cool have you got the Crash Bandicoot Files yet Tiny Tiger was supposed to be in Crash 1 and you fight him in the sewers.
No, Tiny's unused track from the first Crash Bandicoot game hasn't been uploaded anywhere yet.
CrashFan95 its a book about Crash Bandicoots development called Crash Bandicoot Files it came out in March has all the art and concept stuff for Crash 1 I’m not on about Tiny Tiger music track.
Oh yes, I heard about this book. I'm really considering whether if I should buy it.
CrashFan95 it’s worth it it’s a good book to read.
And Dingodile was requested by a member of naughty dog staff.
This is only Komodo.J Theme they had seperate boss fights in CB I
Yes, they did. It's just a shame that we never got to see what exactly would have reperesented.
Bass reminds me of Feel Good Inc.
I'm afraid I'm not familiar with it/them.
@@CrashFan95 the song by Gorillaz?
Yo have the unused soundtrack of Tiny Tiger from Crash Bandicoot 1?
I'm not sure whether it is released by Josh Mancell. His personal page on SoundCloud should provide the answer.
Has some Unbearable feelings in it
Ah, nice pun. That, and definitely some from the machinery-themed levels.
I already knew of this song, unfortunately, about this, I haven't much more to say, anyway, by uploading it, who follows you can surely hear some Unused Content like this Music.
About the Mod made by Gabriel de Oliveira, I completed it today (of course with Save-States, without them I can't even surpass the Death Route of the First Level), but since there are really many chances to die in almost every Level, I have some doubts that you an do all the levels without die, since, as I said before, some Parts are either Luck-Based or requires Master Knowledge of Crash Bandicoot's Moves and Physics.
I know that you are the most good player of Crash Bandicoot Games(or, in any case, one of the most good players), but since you wrote that even Snow Go was too much for you, I don't know if you are able to complete them without die since they seem harder than Snow Go.
Well, in any case, I just wrote my opinion, maybe some things are wrong.
I'll proceed with the Mod soon and we are going to see what will happen.
CRASH BANDICOOT 1 SOUNDTRACK KOMODO JOE UNUSED V2"5 2021)😃😃 PART 1
I I thought that song was released in the crash 2
I doubt it, dude. I have played Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back more times than I can count and I have never heard this theme in the game.
Hm. Looks like they was planned like japanese, but in final version there are mongols
Which is odd because the Komodo dragons are usually found in the Indonesian islands of Komodo, Rinca, Flores, and Gili Motang.
Maybe great for Crash 1 standards but for Crash 2 standards...nope!
That's because Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back exceeds in everything that was the first Crash Bandicoot game, including music. I totally agree with you.
CrashFan95 ikr except for backtracking
