Hey guys, welcome to LOST BITS! Where I will cover unused, unreleased and unseen things in various games! In this video, we’re heading on back to the Playstation side of things and checking out Crash Bandicoot's second game: Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes back! This game doesn't have as much cut content as the first one, but there are a few prerelease builds of the game out there with several changes from the final build. Also, the final release has it's fair share of unused stuff too! Hope you enjoy!

I thought so! I knew that model looked odd.
I think the reason that his refelction disappears in the "bear it" demo after death is because the way reflections work in crash is that theres just a mirrored model of crash behind the transparent surfaces. So maybe when crash is killed it also kills his reflection model and doesnt respawn it?
Good theory! They only thought to respawn the playable crash

Often times if I drop something or see someone dropping something (often called Butterfingers) I remember part of this old Butterfingers (candy) commercial with a frog that says butter really slowly like buuuuuttttttteeeeeerrrrr, buuuuuutttttteeeeeerrrrrrrrr, buuttteeerrfingers. I tried to find the video but couldn't. Pretty sure that was a 90's commercial or possibly early 2000's.

I would say without a beat that Crash 2 is my favorite out of the OG 3 games so this video makes me happy
while crash 3 is my fave, this game did secrets MUCH better

I'm glad this is getting more exposure. The builds seen in prerelease images and video have not been uncovered yet, hopefully this will lead to someone coming forward with at least one of these prototypes.
I've spoken to a couple of people about their whereabouts, including former Naughty Dog staff, no one seems to know where they might be. Not even Andy Gavin & Jason Rubin themselves.
More prerelease footage and images have been surfacing, so perhaps that's a sign that we may be seeing a release of some sort in the near future.

i am very certain the reason crash loses his "reflection" after dying
is because the way reflections where handled was by having a duplicate
of the model underneath a transparent surface to make it look like there is a reflection.
early 3D games did this all the time
due to having real reflections not being a thing yet.
so there is a bug that has his duplicate model disappear
permanently.
Speaking of branching off to more non-nintendo series, I'm still waiting for Shovel Knight to make an appearance 'round here. :thonkery:

I had the North America demo disc mentioned here when I was growing up. It was my introduction to a lot of PS franchises at the time.
Crash 2 is such a masterpiece, my favorite.

For the Bear it Demo what i think is, the reflection is just another crash model, thats how most mirrors in that Date where simulated, having 2 char models , and for the point when you die and you dont have a reflection anymore i think the devs didnt revive the Model that is the reflection.

I would've loved it if tetra tried to force the prototypes to load other levels to see what the differences were.
This video seems a little quick fire, like: 'here's prototype and like 3 differences, here's 2 more, here's final, here's some leftover stuff, ok bye.' It's a little unnatural to me.

Is it possible to see this life and tnt create using some camera editor in the game? Or even does these creates are counted by the game box counter?

It's possible(or even likely) that the name RT96G/RT96V were placeholders for the 8 on the box, where the file names may have been RT16G for the box that displays TNT, RT26G being for the 1, etc. offset by 1 in a similar way to how indexes are offset one backwards in coding. But that's just my take on it

I would really like to see a crash 3 video in this style because a really prototype was recently found there is so many cut content and changes like a underground bonus from gee wiz being cut and in the demo you cannot get the box gem because the boxes from the cut underground bonus that can only be seen in the e3 video are still loaded and are out of bounds

About the TNT that explodes before you get to see it: are you sure the developers of the remake didn't 'fix' it? It seems to me that they preferred to reproduce that bug into the game rather than not fixing it. An easy way to tell is to see whether they reused the original code or not.
The 2nd demo for crash 2 came out when I was 2 years and 2 days old. I just think thats neat.
