I grew up in clewiston also, I lived there from 88 to 99. I remember the movie theater with 1 screen and playing basketball at the youth center. You're right about the car culture, there were tons of box chevys, regale, and Monte Carlos with candy paint and 30s and vogues. I miss it, I'm gonna plan a trip back soon.
It's not for everyone, but it is a "sweet" little city. Even though it's not that big, it still has it's ghetto. Brown Sugar Festival had been cancelled for years because of the unsolved shooting death of woman during one of the festivals. I think it just was just reopened in 2023.
I love your tours of these places. Im in Silver Springs. I love it here. Pretty country area. I lived in Ocala for a long time. Loved the people there but like a quieter area. Ocala is huge now.
