Jay, you hit the nail on the head with the reasons you stated. I feel the same way. It just doesn't make sense anymore. I was born in D.R. but was raised in NYC. I never imagined in a million years that I would consider living in the D.R. and now I am considering any and all options because USA ain't it. I'm tired of the grind and the division. My parents came to the US in the 70s for a better life and I guess for awhile, it was better but I feel like we are going backwards now. Thanks for the video.

I left NYC at 25 years old and showed up in the DR in 2005

You have to access the future because inflation is out of control, jobs going overseas, immigrants coming here getting jobs in Chi-town over BM. You are 100 percent correct about the classism part of DR, as a country we are not racist. We don’t call blacks, Afro dominicans, they are just dominicans. Is all about money and status, even if you come from Haiti, and people see you are a professional or business man/woman, they will treat you with respect

I disagree with you. I work with many Dominicans in a huge organization. They are racist. They only take care of each other and they deal with blacks only if they have to. Other than that it’s all about them. They are extremely blatant about it. All races at my job complain about them. It’s bad. They are like the Jewish people. They stick together and only hook up each other. Don’t sleep. They are also called nationalists

I long for a place where I'm no longer prejudged/prejudice based on my melanin. This place was never awesome but now? It's a cesspool. I have two children who are with my ex till they're older. You mentioned about not being comfortable in public and people on edge in the states..i agree. Im always looking over my shoulder and prefer to be home, honestly. I was in Santo Domingo one Sunday night last year walking around on the Malecon near the amusement park area and tons of people out until the wee hours, young and elderly just having a good time with no fighting, shooting etc. Try that in the US. Racism, i agree. In the DR i feel at home and relaxed when there versus the states where i never did. Material wise, we have so much wealth in the states yet miserable and while many Dominicans don't have a lot of things, they are happy and prioritize family and friendships. And yes I know that the DR has its flaws for sure. Please forgive the long post but had to respond and excellent video 👏🏾 keep enjoying.

Hi Jay. That was on point. I’m a firstborn generation American. My mom is Dominican and my dad Puerto Rican. I’ve been watching Norberis’s videos, among others, to get a pulse of sentiment from expats. I’ve been going to the DR(Santiago) since I was 2, since we have family in that city. I retired from the Marine Corps in 2016, full pension. The wife retires in 2034, so we’re waiting on her pension. Also waiting for our son to graduate from college,we don’t want to take any kids. My wife is gringa, German-American . We’ve been debating becoming expats for ALL the reasons you stated(DR, Argentina or Colombia). Your video was straight to the point. If we move to the DR, it’ll be north coast, we’ll start looking in 2030. I was in PP and Santiago in March 2023. We’ll be in PP in May on a cruise stop, and I plan to give the wife a great tour for about 7 hours. However,we’ll have to make multiple trips lasting weeks after 2030,I’m sure things will be a little different with the new train systems in place. Jay,have a great life in the DR and thanks again. The US is unbearable.

    Spot on, bro.
I'm a Dominican living in New York City for 30 + years, and I've never seen this country so divided by hatred. New York is a big mess now: crime, dirty, unbelievably expensive, dysfunctional and out of whack.
I'm done. Sadly, I need to work a couple of more years to have a decent retirement income. I just pray that I'll be able to make it through the other end of the tunnel.

Gracias, señor. Y you hit the perfect points of why I want to move and stay in DR. And not only, majority of women in America wanna be men nowadays that I don’t see why they need me for. So, I got to relocate
