    I'd pick RV life. Every time I see a smaller space than what you guys have all I can do is think about rainy days! In your place you seem to have enough space to weather, no pun intended, a few rainy days...whereas the smaller van leaves you with nowhere to go because you can't go outside. Their van would be an awesome weekender tho!

    We have a 32 ft 5th wheel and a 2021 dodge promaster 2500 converted van. We aren't full time rvers. We like the 5th wheel for family and friend camping and traveling or when we we spend 3 months snow birding in the winter. We use the van when it's just the 2 of us and we are traveling cross country staying stationary just a day or two to see the sights in the area. A lot more flexibility for parking and stealth camping. No need for hookups with our solar.

    • @EatSeeRV
      @EatSeeRV  3 роки тому +2

      That's awesome! We feel the same way.
      We always say if we traveled slower there would have been no reason to sell our 5'r. But, the ease of driving and parking a van conversion has us considering downsizing or RV again!
      My only concern is indoor space for the cats.

    Terrific video for considering options... THANKS SO MUCH!! I Do like the smaller size for narrow streets and parking as well as the fact it doesn't look so much like a camper... But I do prefer the MOST creature comforts and larger size provides that... Either one would be great as I do not have one

    Great comparison. Thanks. We have had 3 Class B vans since 1990: A Winnebago, A Pleasureway, and a Roadtrek. All were wonderful and served us well. Now we are in our 3rd class C, an Orion. It is kind of the best of both worlds. A van chassis for good driving, 24’ long, so easy to park. It’s more room than the Bs, similar gas Milage, and cost a lot less. Your video said it perfectly with side by side pictures to make it understandable. Keep it rolling and safe travels.

    We've lived in both a 22' Pleasure Way Class B and a 25' 5" Winnebago Class A built on the same "van" Mercedes-Benz 3500 Sprinter dually chassis. The non-starters for us were the non-permanent/convertible sofa/bed similar to this Class B and the wet bath. Certainly, a single person could easily live in a Class B but as a couple we couldn't. The merits of a Class B in general are its relative invisibility in how it blends into its surroundings and how it can even be used as a daily driver if necessary. Nice power system tho'!

However I chose a truck camper for the ability to go pretty much anywhere. I personally would keep the money in my pocket and use it to travel. In the end I just need a place to sleep I do the living outside. But as i said it's really based on your need and how you use it.

    Great video. Your RV almost looks like a class B not C. Problem I have with vans is the cost. A Diesel sprinter is around $100k where a 28-30' class C can be had for $30,000. And while thats sprinter is nice there is absolutely no storage for bigger stuff like bicycles. Which can be done by raising bed but then you play climb over each other to get out of bed. Just a few downsides to van life.

  • @sghsstuff

    I think living in any type of van or RV is awesome. I also think that it’s OK for people to know that you are in there sleeping or whatever. Stealth is worse because it’s not as safe people will think that no one is in there and may attempt to break in. I think you get my point.

    Thanks for the comparison video. We started full timing a year and a half ago in a class C Winnebago Fuse (similar size to View/Navion but shorter height) and our MUST requirement for full timing was a full bathroom with separate shower. Now than we have been on the road for awhile I’m used to living in a small space and actually would prefer to NOT have a bathroom. I find they take up too much real estate for the small amount of square footage you already get. I’ve started watching full timer RV channels in truck campers, vans and 13ft trailers, all without bathrooms and I realize that you don’t actually need one. If they can do it, so can I! I never could have started out full timing without a bathroom. But now I’m ready to downsize to something smaller and I wanna give it a go!

They had the Custom Mercedes Sprinter with all the extras and they told me they couldn't imagine needing all the room I had in my 34 foot Class A. I purchased a new Trovato 59K in 2017.
    It has doubled in value.
    Note: 59K floor plan is the ONLY all weather floor plan in existence.
    (any weather condition, you enter through the rear onto a shower pan)

    We would love to get a van to travel around the country! Their van is awesome! What do you guys do if you have to go to the store? Do you break down camp to go?

    • @EatSeeRV
      @EatSeeRV  3 роки тому +5

      With Karen and Greg's van yeah it would be easy to break camp and run to the store.
      With our RV it would be a little more involved to break camp. But that's one reason why we have the scooter with us.
      If we ever decided to go to van life we would still carry the scooter with us on the back of the van. - Dennis

    We are a road train with a 45’ class a and a matching 30’ enclosed trailer. We bend in the middle so it’s not that bad to get around. We love to glamp with our 3 dogs. It’s in the shop now getting all 3 roof heat pumps replaced with one of the old units going on the trailer. We have a full size side by side refrigerator and a king size bed for enough room for all 5 of us to sleep. Everything runs on our 3000 watt inverter except the washer/dryer and a/cs. We carry 2 Honda goldwing trikes and a smart car as well as a complete tool box and 6’ clothes rack, air compressor and aluminum cabinets hanging high.It is wired for 30amp service. It has a winch operated rear door. We’re spoiled and we know it. Y’all travel safe. Dan - Oklahoma’s Tumbleweeds

    Great video! I’m curious about the gas mileage. With all those custom features, does the van still beat the RV on mileage?

    • @EatSeeRV
      @EatSeeRV  Рік тому

      Dang, We should have tested that!
      So, their van should definenity get better MPG's than our RV for a couple of reasons.
      1) It's a newer model year with a 6 speed transmission, DEF and an updated engine head that adds more torque and HP. (It can move all the weight easier)
      2) Even though the van does have a ton of interior mods I can assure you it is still A LOT lighter than our RV before we start loading all of our "stuff" into it.
      With that said our RV got 13.5 MPG, loaded, in just about every driving condition, steep mountain grades or flat super windy open highways.
      If I had to guess I would say the van was averaging 3-5 MPG more than the RV, but of course I can't be sure because we didn't test that.
      Glad you enjoyed the video Catherine. Thanks for watching! - D

    Custom built is more durable than the rv?

  • @lindalee1743
    @lindalee1743 3 роки тому

    Yeah, but what was the cost in dollars comparison. That would be good to know, if they don't want to give out actual dollars, then the delta cost between the two options would have been good enough.
