Thank you for the pinout. I ended up just buying the correct ends and made mine from scratch.

For those still looking for alternative cables to the CA-C3AV I’ve found 2 compatible styles. Apparently this is the CTIA standard, which is less common than others. I’ve also found people on amazon and eBay that sell 4 pole adapters to go between CTIA and alternate configurations. Both of these cables have female RCA ends. One is 6 inches, the other is 6 feet.
    Long with right angle 3.5mm jack - Metra AIP-35AV6 - www.metraonline.com/part/AIP-35AV6
    Short with straight 3.5mm jack - Unknown Brand FE-ADT-267 - www.mycablemart.com/store/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=6026
Metra confirmed in an email to me that the 2nd ring is the ground terminal and MyCableMart specifically says so on their page and has images as reference.

2:28 When you said the Red is the 2nd One, I started thinking how to make that work and thanks you finally told us. One other thing you can do to solve that issue is to buy a male & a female 4 pole connector that would cost a buck or so, which could be rewired easily.
EDIT: Or you could buy a 4 pole 3.5mm extension cable, splice it in the middle to find the 4 wires and rewire them appropriately to share ground.
    Hope this helps.

Video is actually super helpful. Only issue im having is that the linked cable is no longer on amazon. Would you possibly know of another cable that is usable without me having to order 5 different one?

It worked for my kenwood dmx7704s , only one problem when it’s hooked up I have no audio control and it seems too bypassing my amp?? So using my iPhone with adapter you can’t control the volume as the stereo doesn’t have any amplified sound with aftermarket amp

Can I use a normal AUX jack for audio only?

Do you know if the Alpine units are pinned the same as the Kenwood cable? I have an X208u which has the 3.5mm input but I need RCAs and I couldn't find a cable made by Alpine.

Isn't the video jack shielded? If you switch a yellow for another color, will you introduce noise into the video signal?

But definitely going to have to get some of the #2 for when the ca-c3av disappears again

Great video, very helpful! I ended up buying this: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QQPG6BT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and wiring up a spare cable I cut up. I am only using it for audio, so it displays "No Signal" when in use, which is only sparingly. If the link dies, it's a 4pin 3.5mm cable to a screw terminal block which I wired up according to the pinout in the video.
