The exquisite and beautiful way you describe this unique -and actually outstanding fragrance- goes beyond poetry. Got Elixir just a few minutes ago… my sister gave it to me for my birthday! Thank you Aaron for this sublime review.. the amount of passion, professionalism and love you put into it, is phenomenal. Greetings from Chile.
By far the best 2021 release I can remember, and I despise the entire sauvage line as too basic, juvenile and overworn.. bought this for summer, as I detected freshness within the warm spiciness, and I dont regret it one bit.

I got a sample of this a week ago and it was beast mode! I spray 2 times back of my hand and this stuff was projecting for like 4 hours. The opening didnt catch me much but the dry down it really shines. It is rich and spicy! Last long time on me and strong.

I recently bought this blind, no reviews nothing. I absolutely love it! I learned instantly to only use 2 sprays on my chest, it projects like a beast on me, and I love how it’s different from all the other sauvage frags.
It actually does project heavily. That’s one of the weirdest parts. Normally when you have such an oily fragrance like this it’s an immortal skin scent. But not this, somehow it fills the room while lasting all day. I genuinely don’t get how it works on a science level.
Same haha, end of the day it works different on everyones skin imo. For me it's the best preformance perfume out of my 15+ frag collection. And this is my most favourite savuage and I love it, will be rebuying it when it finishes.

Went into Boots today to test this. It blew my socks off, so I treated myself. I am not a huge fan of the EDT, but this is on a whole new level. Great review as always Aaron!
Smells like the Yankee Candle named Midsummer's Night to me. That one of which always resembled Drakkar Noir, but a bit sweeter. Absolutely adore this scent.
Got a sample of this. After putting it on I found it repulsive and nauseating. Lasted three hours before I had to take another shower to wash it off. It just smelled sickly and acrid. Thank you for your comprehensive reviews.
As a middle easterner myself, You really hit the nail on the head with this one…I think this is the most accurate review of Elixir to date. I usually don’t like when reviews get too technical, but u do it in a pretty engaging way mate gotta hand it to you 👍🏼 Longevity is mad! on my wrist 48 hours with 2 showers and another perfume sprayed over it, no exaggeration! I think Elixir is a perfume meant to be smelt from its projection or its silage and 1-2 hours after spraying to get how lovely it is….when I smell it right off the skin especially at the beginning, it doesn’t smell that nice with the spice crowding itself through the ambroxan metallic vibes. Kinda like a dirty stain on a perfect clean white shirt….but when I am wearing it and I get whiffs of it, it is absolutely lovely! And quite addictive even! I don't know why Dior even designed this as a Sauvage. It's so unique and so capable of standing on its own two legs that they could have very easily launched this as it's own separate line. If only every fragrance out there had the longevity and the performance this does, holy christ it's SOOOOO long lasting. It's an all nighter if i've ever seen one. The first time I wore it was just before Christmas 2022 when I went out for dinner with family one night, I went to bed that night, woke up the next morning and I could smell it on my god damn pillow lol I'm someone who sleeps on my side quite a bit and what happened overnight as I was sleeping on my side my pillow had actually absorbed some of it from my face.
The problem of releasing this one on its own is that dior would have to make a new line, make advertisements for it, get ppl to buy the new line. To get the familiarity that people have with sauvage takes a whole lot of money and time (and time is money), while introducing it as a flanker just makes sense financially.
easier to market when attached to sauvage/johnny depp. same with dior homme 2020 being attached to homme/robert pattinson, even though it hardly smells like the older dior hommes due to omitting the iconic iris accords
This was a brilliant review. As always, you provide a credible, technical explanation to help me better understand what I really like - and the few things I dislike - about the fragrance. It's a brilliant fragrance and I think Dior has set a high bar for designer houses with this release. Thanks Aaron.

What strikes me more than anything with your fabulous reviews is how you exhibit not only your absolute expert status, but more importantly the love and passion for the art of scent creation in all of its various facets, not just concentrating on the scent itself, but the technical aspects of building the DNA and co-combining all the amazing elements that go into a complex scent structure that evolves over time. You thus enable me as a total bloody amateur to deeply appreciate the art of mining that depth of knowledge that goes into crafting these scents and which culminate into the total experience. Being older and having lived in the United States for the past 30+ years, but having come from Europe and having traveled across the Middle East and Central/ S-E Asia in the 1980/90's, I am always looking for those unique scents I experienced back then - which evoked the luxurious, deeply mysterious scent experiences that I so cherished during my trips without really knowing what I was smelling and why it so resonated so deeply with me. I really look forward to experiencing your line of creations as your passion for your work simply MUST translate very powerfully into scents that are totally unique. Thank you kindly for allowing US ALL here on your channel to gain some insight into your intimate knowledge of the art form that "scentology" represents.
Bought the Elixir as a semi blindbuy. I was absolutely blown away by its longevity. It's downright criminal. I have a face shield from the SA Company. It's kind of a cloth for cold weather. Gave it four sprays because I really like the smell of Elixir, especially in its later drydown. what can I say - after about a week in the pocket of my jacket it still smells so strong that whenever I wear it leave behind a noticable trail which people really love.
I've discovered your channel recently, and i've been binge-watching your videos for hours. Your reviews are the most qualified and passionate i've ever found on youtube. I wish you all the best! Usually i don't write comments, but i wanted to thank you. Greetings from Italy!
That’s very kind. Thank you for your kind comments. I try my best to make these reviews amazing. It’s a huge effort from two studio people and one video unicorn who edits my work. So it’s nice to see people seeing the effort involved
Love your reviews Aaron and as someone who found the original sauvage a really immature screamer I was blown away by Elixir yes it could do with a few more edges but I love it, this and Homme Parfum are the best from the house imo
Almost every youtuber says it projects madly but I'm with you on this one, it doesn't project on my skin either but it definitely last long. Love the way it changes with time too.
Thanks for reviewing this, Aaron! I couldn't stand the astringent peppery note in Sauvage EDT but I liked the smoothness of the EDP almost enough to purchase it. Bleu de Chanel really tops it though for me. I also rather enjoy middle eastern perfumery. It transports me to a different place. I was pleasantly surprised when I first wore Lyric Man in the Australian summer. So on the basis of your review and that it's really quite different to what's come before I'm quite keen to get my nose on this now. Cheers mate!
i sprayed original sauvage on before applying this. my god i wish i didn't. it was like tear gas. seen people mention dior say it's an option.yeeah, not an option im looking to do again. but elixir is not my normal fragrance of choice as far as its scents but its amazing imo. wouldnt say its an everyday carry, more a dinner date fragrance.
Hello Aaron, greetings to you from Saudi Arabia I really enjoy your reviews, you have charisma, experience, presence and knowledge We in the Arabian Gulf differ from the rest of the Middle East. We love strong, luxurious perfumes, incense, oud, and a strong presence At work, you may wear red tobacco and you will not notice. Sometimes we wear the perfume with layers and layers of oud, incense, musk, and then perfume. Therefore, we have a different taste from the rest of the world, and every region in the world has its own atmosphere and its own environment. My respect for the aromatic communities all over the world and for your dear followers. I wrote this comment with Google translation, so excuse me for any misunderstanding
What made you buy the elixir? I can't wear the older sauvage scents because everybody wears it nowadays. But I am interested in the Elixir based on what I hear/read.
@@bigbrotherwatchesdannyboy306 I’m a big fan of strong long lasting fragrances I find it a more mature fragrance and it differs from the other savages I like the high quality lavender and the mix and woods and spices with paired down ambroxen .
Very well constructed, very expensive too. A sweet combination of Lavender & Licorice, ambitious and frontal. Accompanied by sweet spices, Cinnamon, Amber and Nutmeg. A cousin of Dolce Gabbana "The One For Men" without its coriander, tobacco and orange flower. After several hours, the lavender becomes hygienic without being soapy, while retaining an animalic and masculine imprint. It is not original, does not revolutionize the genre... but is so sensual. Francois Demachy is growing in my heart, his creations taking more and more place in it. 7/10
IMO this is the best of 2021. First spray might be too much but it gets better and better and better. In an hour, it turns into a masterpiece and lasts for at least 15 hours on my skin. Days on clothing.
Ur right. 1st spray I wasn't sold, but I swear a minute went by, then 2 minutes went by, then 3 and so on. But it's like the smell got better and better every minute. I had to buy it.
interesting that it's not super projecting for you. it's a beast for me and projects over 6 feet with 1 spray. I love your reviews, it's so detailed and the breakdowns are so great. I love your presentation, and I love your commentary. I love how it's a more muted and deeper and richer Sauvage, but beastly at the same time.
Thanks for the comprehensive informative review. I always learn something from your videos. I purchased this a little over a week ago. This is my favorite in the Sauvage line.
Initially I didn't like the Opening, but then after 30 Mins - 1 hour, the Middle stage & Drydown of this is sooo georgeous, it reminds me of a purple evening Sky, very magical, one of the best Designer scents on the market, this is Niche quality for a affordable price.

Aaron, I found this a really informative review. Great comments too! I’ve tried it and loved it. Intend to pick up a bottle real soon! Thanks for sharing!
One of the most sophisticated designer’s fragrances out there. You get to appreciate all the technical aspects you mentioned in this video. To me It has more niche vibe than the entire CD’s exclusive line. LOVE from KSA🇸🇦…
Me personally, I tend to gravitate towards the fragrances that people slam or hate on!! By doing this, I fell in love with Oudhs of all varieties, civet, castoreum and other notes that more or less put people off!! Had I listened to how the majority felt about perfumery, my olfactory Journey would be so limited and boxed in!! I love and appreciate all works of perfumery!! Even if I may not find myself compelled to not wanting to invest in a bottle, I still find something to appreciate about it!! Keep up the good work Aaron💯
Awesome review! Really informative and straight to the point.. I will definitely give this a try since i always loved the Dior Sauvage line. P.s your voice is really soothing and asmr like!
This fragrance is probably the strongest fragrance I have tried. I initially liked it, but lately kind of grown to hate it. It's incredibly strong with insane projection. It's one of few fragrances I can almost immediately tell when someone wears in public, even from far away. My gym dressing rooms will always smell like this, people wearing this on the subway will make the entire train smell like elixir, and sometimes people in class will also smell like this (it's not a good thing). It's extremely headache inducing (I say this as a person that usually don't have issues with this) and you are going to make some people a irritated if you wear this at inappropiate places. I generally don't care what people wear but this thing is DIFFERENT, you can't just ignore someone wearing this, unless you literally just leave the room, train, plane, bus or whatever because it's THAT strong. I would strongly advice to not use more than 1-2 sprays and only for appropriate occasions with this one.
I agree with you regarding people slamming it before it even came out. The community can be really ridiculous at times. Overall, I do enjoy this scent! Cheers brotha. 🥂
Aaron we send our love from Greece. Thank you for your lovely videos on perfumes. This haircut and beard suits you better than the latter ones. They also suit your tattoos better.
Listen, I've been two times to Sephora to try this one... I spray it on my hand's back. and try 4 Tom Ford's on the rest of my arms and hands and anywhere I can spray. 30 minutes later half of the TF are almost gone... SAuvage Elixir lasts until the NEXT DAY. Obviously not the same power or scent as when you spray it but it keeps changing hour by hour... next day you smell something neat. So I love this one.
Thanks for all the great reviews and for always keeping it real. The only reviewer that makes me blind buy fragrances. So far, so good! I couldn't agree more. I was reminded of curry chicken when I first put my nose on this fragrance.
Elixir is soooooooo gourmand on my skin, all I can do not to try to lick myself. One of those fragrances where you wonder if you are getting "High" off smelling your wrist but you keep on going.
You really bring a fragrance aspect that we just don't know. All we really want is a good, smelling fragrance. However, you are so correct. A lot of effort goes into making a fragrance, so how can we, as the consumer, speak about said fragrance if it has not been tested?
I very much agree with your final thoughts. The spicy note is unpalatable for me as well. I’ve only smelled it on a tester strip but it smelled like bottled pepper spray to me lol
Enjoyed your review of Sauvage Elixir a very balanced review, taking into consideration all aspects of the fragrance, I tried it in store it didn’t blow me away but I think it’s much better than the other iterations of Sauvage, I like the fragrance and certainly can’t complain on the price but at that price point I do think there are better fragrances suited to my own taste and it will be super popular, it won’t be very unique for long so for me while I like it I’d probably pass on getting a bottle, but certainly appreciate it more than the others, I wouldn’t complain if it was all I smelled when I walked past people (like I do with the original sauvage 😂)
Middle eastern taste - definitely. It reminds me a tiny bit of Herod by parfums de Marly in the smokiness. Gorgeous scent. Dark, deep, smooth, confident. 30+ men. If James Bond had a beard.
Amazing explanation Aaron... nowdays when i first check for a perfume review i come to your channel ... love your hall of fragrance video..trying to get that list :)
From my untrained enthusiasm for fragrances I think Sauvage Elixir certainly is a very divisive fragrance, I thought it was pungently strong and off putting when I first smelt it, now though I do like it but keep it for special occasions.
I'm late to the show, however picked up a bottle and they did a fantastic job with this scent. Personally, I appreciate the smoothness, Spice with the woodsy finish. 2 to 3 spray for me goes a long way. Great review.
What batch/year is your bottle from? I just got mine (batch April 2023) and the performance isn't anywhere near as long lasting or projecting as people were saying with the earlier batches. I'm hoping its not been reformulated
@csjs123 okay so same year, how long does yours last? Me i had to spray 5 times until my friend finally noticed it whereas when i sprayed 2 or 3 times, nothing 🤔
Bought the 100ml two weeks ago and performance is really not what it used to be when it was released. It is less potent and sweet. It lacks the smokiness of the initial batches. Regret buying it. How is the performance? Does it need macerating? Thank you.
Awesome review again. Exactly how I experience this. The spices are too heavy. On a teststrip it takes 2 days to loose that heaviness of the top notes. After two days it becomes a very smooth and soft Sauvage like the parfum edition, little more dense then then the parfum edition. I love the parfum edition, but don’t like the elixer edition at all.
Couple things.... New white shirt...great change! New camera?....excellent! Sauvage Elixir review....spot on! Fragrance site comments.....nailed it on the head! On a side note....ordered Smoulder from your site and cannot wait for delivery in the good ol' USA!!!
Yes. I now have a professional Camaraman and a professional sound man. So I film these in front of two people. So you might notice a different energy. Thank you:)
This is such an interesting fragrance. When I tried it I didn't love it. Perhaps for the same reason mentioned here. However, it left me wanting more. So I went to every Dior counter in the mall and asked to sample it. By the end of the day I was covered in it! I think you are right about the projection. My niece and nephew could smell me in the car on the way home. But they said it wasn't too strong or choking them out. I really liked it. There was something very mysterious about it's complexity. But I could not put my finger on it. Days later, I was still ruminating on it. Like an ear worm that you can't get out of your head. And then it hit me. On my skin it had an effervesence. Almost like grape soda. Or fruity pop-rocks. (Forgive my ignorance regarding the technical terms.). So, I don't love it. But there are some scents that just stick with you. Like Tuscan Leather. This is one of them. I'll eventually get a bottle for myself. And I think this is designed for the wearer to enjoy. Not necessarily for those around you.
This review deserves 5 stars. The way you explained the way you delivered an objective point of view and then your subjective opinion is astonishing. Thank you, with my heart!

You are the only reviewer that I trust and from whom I get an honest, real reviews all the time, I love your review, thank you for being there.
Loved that review. The Middle Eastern market focus description is spot on! And immediately gave me a better way of describing it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Best review ever! Feeling blessed to watch this, thank you unicorn.
Your directness and honesty has earned my appreciation and respect for as long as you do this.
@@AaronTerenceHughes thanks for letting me know about the team. Guys, let's feel all embraced by my appreciation!
Love your reviews Aaron and as someone who found the original sauvage a really immature screamer I was blown away by Elixir yes it could do with a few more edges but I love it, this and Homme Parfum are the best from the house imo
Great review as always Aaron. Dior really hit it out of the park with Sauvage Elixir imo
Someone at Dior said that this Elixir works well in layering with the others sauvage. I tried with the edt and it was ATOMIC!
That’s an interesting idea
@Goldman Amschel Mayer Rothschild Which do you spray first?
I did that by accident because I got samples when I bought Elixir and yes you are right EDT and Elixir smells amazing
@Goldman Amschel Mayer Rothschild May I ask you which you would spray on first, please??
May I ask, what would you advise to spray on first? The EDP or Elixir?? I’d much appreciate an answer. Thank you.
Almost every youtuber says it projects madly but I'm with you on this one, it doesn't project on my skin either but it definitely last long. Love the way it changes with time too.
Just got a sample of this in and can’t wait to get testing. Love your channel A!
👋
One of the best reviews ive come across.
This is an amazing review Aaron. Amazing explanations and insight, great sound and video quality and editing. Legend, amazing work ❤
Thanks for reviewing this, Aaron!
My guy to and temporary L in the name of science
lesson learned never spray elixir and the original together
I think Israel has the best perfum industry in Middle East.

Like what ?
I blind bought this one and love it actually . It is the only sauvage I own another great review Aaron .
Will pick this up too. All other Sauvages havent been the slightest interesting to me but this I think ill like.
@@ruddle1168 I like MFK masculine pluriel. Is elixir a similar type of barbershop scent?
@@bigbrotherwatchesdannyboy306 yes it’s a very masculine fragrance
Very well constructed, very expensive too.
A sweet combination of Lavender & Licorice, ambitious and frontal.
Accompanied by sweet spices, Cinnamon, Amber and Nutmeg.
A cousin of Dolce Gabbana "The One For Men" without its coriander, tobacco and orange flower. After several hours, the lavender becomes hygienic without being soapy, while retaining an animalic and masculine imprint.
It is not original, does not revolutionize the genre... but is so sensual.
Francois Demachy is growing in my heart,
his creations taking more and more place in it.
7/10
IMO this is the best of 2021. First spray might be too much but it gets better and better and better. In an hour, it turns into a masterpiece and lasts for at least 15 hours on my skin. Days on clothing.
more like months on clothing lol
Ur right. 1st spray I wasn't sold, but I swear a minute went by, then 2 minutes went by, then 3 and so on. But it's like the smell got better and better every minute. I had to buy it.
I test it today morning at a Mall. One spray and now, after 12 hours I can still smell it. Monster longevity!!! Thanks!
I love the passion you bring to the art of fragrance!
interesting that it's not super projecting for you. it's a beast for me and projects over 6 feet with 1 spray.
Right, it's about the dry down with this fragrance. 1st spray, there's too much going on. After about 5 minutes, it gets better and better.
I sprayed this on my skin yesterday at 5pm it’s not 8am the next day and I can still smell that woody creaminess on my arm. Beautiful.
Your a great person showing respect for others work. This review makes me trust your views far more. Thank you for standing tall and humble at the same time.
I understand how hard it is to make a fragrance.
@@AaronTerenceHughes its like you can see the different invisible fragrances as they blend. Your self actualized . Its is very beautiful to see a person doing what they love to do. I am truly happy for you Thank you for sharing your special perspective.
You are the BEST reviewer Aaron
What a great review I really enjoyed ur thoughts on Elixir, always an interesting watch!
Aaron, I found this a really informative review. Great comments too! I’ve tried it and loved it. Intend to pick up a bottle real soon! Thanks for sharing!
My husband gave me a bottle for Christmas and I love it. It smells great and is very long lasting. It checks all the boxes for me.
Great work, as always, Aaron. Wonderful video!
Greetings🇬🇷!
Overall,
I do enjoy this scent!
Cheers brotha.
🥂
You didn't mention the black licorice note it has. My favorite part of this is the dry down. Super projection and incredible longevity.
Great eye contact Aaron!!! I see you getting better 😉 it really makes all the difference. Keep it up!!
I’m trying my best.
The best reviews in the business bar none. Great job 💪
That’s very kind thank you
Appreciate the review again Aaron! I always appreciate your take before buying.
Hi Aaron! This is a really good review, really close to my oppinion!
I got my 10 ml or Smoulder yesterday, so I'm working on my review on it!
So true colognes made for two different people I did not favor the EDT at all but the Elixir I like and smelling it in the air love it ❤❤.
Elixir is soooooooo gourmand on my skin, all I can do not to try to lick myself. One of those fragrances where you wonder if you are getting "High" off smelling your wrist but you keep on going.
Love the quality of this video. sound, lighting and editing is on point!
Much appreciated!
I watch your videos to calm down. It works, thanks a lot! ❤
I love your videos! You deserve way more subscribers!
Thank you so much!
I enjoy your reviews. Decisive, informative, no bullshit. Fantastic.
Ohh Aaron I love your new microphone and editing. Wonderful.
your reviews are honest and brilliant, Aaron. great work
Middle eastern taste - definitely.
Your videos are so therapeutic! Absolutely amazing.
Glad you like them!
I love you know the science behind it and speak with such passion. Binge watching your videos. Stay safe.
@@ChelseablueDS not sure, my batch code is from Jan 2023
Haven’t watched the review but I was waiting for this one thanks Aaron .
Thank you:)
I dont like the heavy liquorice in the opening but it dries down nicer.
Fantastic review Aaron! I was one of those people that went and tried this one as soon as it was available and I love it!
@ATH Teeth & Skin look fabulous mate!
Sound quality is fab!
Your review is so descriptive and well put. I'm hooked.
I always look forward to your educational and technical reviews. Thank you sir
Brilliant review, as always. 10/10.
Great review! Just picked it up the day - and I love it…! Best Dior fragrance in a long time.
