Please do something like this for other fragrance lines as well. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the Acqua di Gio line!
yessss
yes plez I hope this is the start of a series
Agreed. Only creators opinion on UA-cam i trust
Yes Aaron please do acqua di gio line
May be hard to get all Acqua Di Gios because of limited editions
For me the Elixer could’ve been a stand alone fragrance and called something completely different like “Lavender absolu” for example..but my guess is they put it under the “sauvage” umbrella for sales..
I used to feel the same as someone who considers Elixir my signature. However, since I’ve been getting into cooking and baking I’ve learned that I love to reduce my sauces down until they are thick syrups and gravy’s. I feel like Elixir is like they took Sauvage and let it reduce down for hours and hours, until all the lighter, brighter, cleaner molecules steamed away and you just have the spicy sauavage syrup left.
@@ItDoesntMATTERwhatYourNameIS Yeah I love the stuff, as I do Sauvage Parfum. And of equal importance, the Elixir easily my most complimented fragrance and it’s not even close. It’s too masculine for some people when they first try it or too strong for the people that only use two sprays of d&g light blue, but if you give it a second it’s great in the dry down and if you wear it with confidence you’ll love it.
Agreed. I love the originals but elixir is just an unrelated warm peppery fragrance to me. It's confusing to see people recommend something that "smells like sauvage" then find out they're talking about elixir. So nothing like sauvage.
The elixir goes through 4 different phases of dry down. A truly fascinating cologne. I hate that curry, nutmeg, rich spice as well. But its dries down into something so complex and mysterious. This cologne could get anyone
@@gamota4523yeah that I agree. I mean I personally don’t dislike the opening. But the dry down on it is so much better. That’s where it shines.
the elixir post-24 hours is my personal favourite stage of its scent
Mr Hughes, this could be a staple series of your channel. I loved it, regardless of it becoming so, always thankful to you for your insights!
I found your channel a few days ago. I watched almost every video, I'm in love with your analysis because your knowledge is just insaene. I love that technical reviews because its unique when compared to other videos on youtube
Try his fragrances. Best in the game
@@ryanepps771what’s your fav
Great video Aaron. I have all 4. I bought 2 and 2 were a gift. I love all of them, but i think the elixir is my fave just edging out the EDP. That being said i get the most compliments w/ the EDT. It's the one that everyone around me says they like the best too. I think a lot of us that are fragheads always lean more towards the more complex frags and the ones that we think have a little more going on. But i realized the majority of society aren't fragrance lovers like us and they usually love the fresh, clean, and simpler ones. Which is cool. It's all good to me. lol
😊 how is the parfum version different than the edp, do you think
Great video Aaron! I agree the EDP is best for every day use. Parfum is gorgeous. And Elixir I do a half spray on my chest under my shirt and that keeps it from being too overwhelming.
YOu dousers crack me up!
Every single time I wear elixir I get a compliment. Wasn't sure about it qt first but quickly grew on me. Now I reach for it.
Fantastic review as ever !
I totally agree having tried Elixir a number of times. The opening which lasts for quite some time is just too much for me. The dry down on clothes particularly the next day is awesome!
Then don't douse !
Im surprised to find that I agree with your opinions a lot of the time! This especially. The Parfum is my favorite of the Sauvage line. But all of them you have to respect because they're so well contructed
Great review! I like them all, edt-gym, everyday, work! EDP evening, dinner, friends get together! P- date, intimate setting. Elixir - attention getter, they all get complimented.
EDT is the best for my nose. Feels like more balanced than the others
It's definitely the easiest to wear and most versatile.
Parfum is my favorite as well great review. 1 parfum, 2 elixir, 3edp, 4 edt
I sprayed some of the elixir on at Macys and didn’t like it. 20 mins after it dried I went back and bought the large version. The dry down is amazing.
That’s how i felt with azarro most wanted parfum. Dry down scent was unreal
Hahah relatable
I own both the elixir and azzaro intense both are a battle
The 100 ml right.
I DID THE SAME THING
The Elixir smells like the inside of a church surrounded by pine trees on fire.
Have no idea. Never smelled this scent but your description is very illuminating!
I've worn a lot of colognes and the elixir is the only one that has gotten me compliments from girls. They were frequent compliments too. I've asked a few girls what their preference is when it comes to how bold the smell is and they all said they like the "spicier" ones. I've noticed guys tend to like the more cool and calm colognes whereas girls are on the other side. So keep in mind what you like may not be what girls like and if there's a certain girl you're buying it for just ask her what she likes.
I'm sorry to say, but Elixir will make you "that dude who chokes people out"
Elixir is all about the dry down. I'd make sure to spray it at least an hour before you want people to actually smell you lol. But the dry down is absolutely fantastic.
YOU DID IT! Unbelievable, finally!
Would LOVE to see a dior homme video detailing each flanker!
This kind of look into Encre trio would be amazing! We know the OG Encre wasn't Aarons biggest favorite, but it would be so interesting to see the feels and differences of the whole trio.
yes pls
Why? We all know the difference between the 3 Encre Noires.. Would you like me to explain?
Wearing the Parfum today and I wanna say my favorite from the line
Elixir is my favourite and I wear two sprays max when I am inside … even to work.
Lots of compliments!
I love Parfum more for everyday. I have the EDP as well, but like it third, with the EDT last. :)
So there is a noticeble difference between all 4? I already have Exlixir but was wondering if I should get the EDP since the notes and scent profile is different (according to Fragnatica).
@@duMaurier15
Elixir smells like it’s its own thing. The other three smell related. The difference between each level… EDT to EDP or EDP to Parfum is relatively small, but there is a large difference between the EDT and Parfum. Parfum is less sharp, smoother and more refined. It’s not ambroxan heavy or loud. But lasts a long time.
I really don’t use my EDP often anymore. Just Elixir and Parfum.
The EDT is amazing. I have the Elixir too but I agree it's too strong and it's not very versatile. This video is great. I'd love a comparison of the Bleu de Chanels.
Concerning the Elixir, the opening is just okay, but the longer it stays on the skin, the better it gets. I wear it when I’m going to be outside spring, summer, fall.
Hows the projection like? Do people still smell it on you after a while
@@harmonjp55 omg- projects crazy great for hours. Really, up close, it isn’t necessarily my favorite, but the cloud around it is🔥.
Glad to hear someone else besides me to say they like the Parfum version the most.
It's far and away the best version. Has more complexity and depth.
I think the Parfum is misunderstood and one of the most underrated sauvages. It still leaves a trail, but it’s not obnoxious and annoying like the original. It’s more quiet and introverted, but still lasts long on your skin and will still get you compliments. If you’re up close to someone that is. With the EDT, EDP and Elixir, you’ll attract almost anyone. Although the EDP is a way better choice than the EDT. As it’s more balanced.
Ambassader by Gisada has a Sauvage similar scent but its done to smell more refined and grown up. Its beautiful
you got such a relaxing voice man...
finally someone I agree with on this! subscribed. love your videos!
you should do a video like this one with the YSL Y line
Excellent video! My favorite is the edp, followed closely by the Elixir. The elixir is an absolute beast of a fragrance!
Thanks for the information. Maybe you could do something like about Dior Homme versions. Or the Gentleman line of Gyvenchy, or even the Blanc line of Lacoste
I own and love the Parfum. It last for hours and sticks to my clothes well too. Dense, good projection, but not super loud and in your face. More classy sits closer to the skin. Right on with the sweetness, to my nose I get a prominent cinnamon note in there. To me it's a very sweet and seductive sort of fragrance that keeps a lot of the pepperiness of the original DNA.
Love the Parfum too
maybe you mistake the sweetness of the tonka bean with sweetness of the cinnamon. I don’t detect any cinnamon, sincerely.
By the way, I love the Parfum too. It’s my signature
@@beau_de_jour you must be right! It definitely smells like that to me but that’s just my nose haha. I notice it more when I smell Montblanc explorer and go back and smell Sauvage Parfum.
parfume is my favourite, glad it’s the least popular in the range, because so many people are wearing the others….
Parfum is outstanding. Couldn't stand the edt and edp UNTIL I tried the Parfum. Now I don't mind them. Elixir is straight junk to my nose. Shouldn't even be a Sauvage flanker
Elixir is a modern masterpiece to me. The opening is brilliant and I love how it evolves on my skin. The nuclear performance doesn’t hurt either so I know I’ll have my bottle for a long long time
For me is nothing special about this scent. Especially for the money it cost.
The term "Masterpiece" is thrown around the fragrance community so often, I can't take this comment seriously
100% agree. If I ever hear of reformulations I will immediately get another bottle.
Agreed. 2 sprays and I'm good for the entire day or evening. That's why i didn't mind the 60ml. I may pick up another bottle just in case the do reformulate it.
@@dagero10 They always say this for Sauvage which proves the word has become a joke.
Sauvage EDT is a masterpiece. The rest are simply tweaks of a masterpiece.
Thank you for helping me decide on my two latest fragrances: Chanel’s Allure Sport Cologne and now Dior’s Parfum. I very much appreciate your thoughtfulness and deeper understanding of this wonderful world of fragrances. On a related note, would you tell us more about your trip to Mexico? I’d love to hear what that was like!
Is there ever a good reason to buy EDT instead of EDP?
EDT seems more like cheaper, diluted cologne style
I just blind bought a big bottle of the EDP. You just calmed me down lol
I'm with you Elixir is my least favorite and eua de Parfum is my favorite. Elixir smells like black liquorice to me. Not a fan
Black Liquorice or Christmas spices come to mind. Maybe it's the nutmeg and lavender note combined that makes this? IDK, feels dated and at the same time super synthetic to my nose. Also the price is really high. Don't understand the hype one bit.
I love this video, a comparison though a line (especially a confusing line) of fragrances is very clarifying and useful. Also I love the technical and industry insights from other reviews. Who am I kidding, I love it all!
I don’t know what’s happened to mine? I have the EDP. The bass notes have disappeared and now smells sour. Doesn’t last more than an hour either. Asked a few mates and my partner who have confirmed I haven’t gone nose blind!
In my opinion, the best dior sauvage is the Eau de Parfum!
I tried the elixir and agreed, to strong for daily. Parfum the go to.
You deserve all of Jeremy Fragrance's subs. You have more charisma, better looking (sounds pretentious but it helps people pay closer attention) and you know so much more from the technical aspect. Fantastic voice too. This channel deserves way more subs. (That's why I draw comparison to Jeremy).
Jeremy Fragrance possesses a profound knowledge and understanding of the art of fragrance-making, and he has demonstrated his expertise through the creation of numerous successful and highly-regarded fragrances. Moreover, he has a unique ability to communicate his knowledge to a wide audience, as evidenced by his popular UA-cam channel, which has attracted a vast following of fragrance enthusiasts from around the world. Aaron does not have this and does not find himselfbon the same level as Jeremy fragrance
@@JefCostello14 Not sure why I'm wasting my time with such sillyness. So you're saying Jeremy, a guy who appreciates fragrences and who HIRES perfumers to make his products knows more than Arron who is an actual perfumer? You know, the kind of perfumer that Jeremy has to hire since he does NOT possess the profound understanding (or whatever word salad you spouted) that Aaron has or else he would create his own fragrences rather than having to hire someone to do it for him. Jeremy WAS more popular but check out the view counts between Aarons videos over the past year compared to Jeremy. Not TOTAL views but over the last year. Video by video. I find it hilarious that you would say Jeremy knows more about fragrence than Aaron. Jeremy just smells the shit, Aaron creates it. Yes that goes for Office and all the other over priced products Jeremy "creates". They are all created by someone else and all he does is smell and approve or disapprove.
Did Jeremy hurt you feelings? Quit man-simping..
No h0mo but Jeremy is a pretty good looking guy, and this guy looks like a hobo with neck tattoos. The asmr voice is bothersome too. Just talk normally.
I put on the elixir one day and some guy at work who never talks much came up to me asking a bunch of nonsensical questions about my motorcycle and if I got to the gym? For the record we’re both straight guys, but this guy seemed to make an effort to keep closing in to ask more and more questions that’s day. Never mentioned anything about the fragrance, but he definitely got the answer to mortgage rates and the current state of the housing market. 😂
Very funny
Great review
The EDP and Elixir are my faves. For some reason the parfum does not last on me
Doesn’t last on me either. Disappointed personally as it’s not exactly cheap.
@@algray9966 yh luckily i managed to sell and get a decent amount. The EDP is way better anyway
you have the best arm movements and vocab descriptions of any personalities doing frags
@voltron720 without a doubt, his way of explaining these items really caught my attention, makes it so watchable 😂
I'd recommend The Pride Of Armaf if you want the combo of the EDT and the EDP. I have Sauvage Elixir and the Armaf and I feel I have the whole range. I love he Elixir, but yes, even I have to spray it 1/2 hour before driving out because it's too much to be trapped with it inside car in it's opening stage. (I have never used more than two sprays).
I agree wholeheartedly with your thoughts and professional opinion. I wore the elixir once to work and people downstairs in our office building were talking about it. Far far too potent and that was one spray on the chest.
These days I wear either Sauvage EDP or rather Legend ATH which I gravitate more to. Both have given multiple compliments if you care about that sort of thing. The opening in legend oh my word, it’s amazing.
you should consider not bathing in it!
@@sevanson1 he said he only used one spray on the chest
I've got the EDP version but I hardly ever reach for it anymore. I prefer the ATH line 👍😁
i have parfum ,and i absolutely love that fragrance
You missed the Very Cool Spray! They claim an EDT concentration for that, even tho many reviewers say and write it is probably closer to an Eau de Cologne
This is a great video, excellent takes. The Elixir is fun, but it’s the trickiest to wear. It can go bad for you easily. The EDP is a great dumb reach and the Parfum is a lovely scent to have but I’m currently without as I have several that fit it’s use already. And the edt is a classic. It’s easy to recommend especially to people that don’t have a lot of fragrances and just want something reliable they can pickup at their local store.
i love the elixir and think the edt is just overplayed
absolutely Parfum is the best
Hoping you'll do something like this with Bleu De Chanel. Xoxo
This could become the mostly highly viewed fragrance series on UA-cam
Just tried the Eau de Parfum and I absolutely love it. Great description of it
No clue what people like about this perfume in any of its versions. Smelled elixir very recently and thought it was vile like a genuinely worse version of brut. But just my opinion
Bought the Parfum a few years ago before I got into fragrances. Really enjoy it. I remember I got a reaction from a hostess who asked, “is that sauvage?” To which I replied, yes. She said “It smells better than I thought”. If I knew the differences between EDT, EDP & Parfum at the time I would’ve been able to put 2 & 2 together, but I didn’t. I just took the compliment & went about my dinner hahaha.
I bought the sauvage elixir from Dior when I first smelled it, I hated it and I couldn’t believe how expensive it was. I spray it on my hand, one time and the department store. Well, about an hour later, the fragrance changed, and it turned into something long lasting and into a very masculine scent one that really improved my mood my girlfriend also really liked it as well. It’s a very mature scent something for people in their 40s and 50s like me like I said right out of the bottle. I have to agree with you once I wore for about an hour it was amazing. I went back to buy a 100 mL bottle, which is double the regular sized bottles I would say it smell terrible at first but after about an hour it was amazing and it lasted for a good 8 to 10 hours so I would have to say it is strong. I wouldn’t spray it three times that would be like for a nightclub if you’re going to work one time, maybe on your skin before you get dressed if you’re working very close with other people, but this has become my favorite scent now well I’m saying some things take time to develop like chicken soup. It doesn’t smell very good the first five minutes everything is in there but after a while, it smells delicious. 😂🤣😂🤣p.s. I tested the other sauvages after the elixir experience they all smelled very sweet to me, almost like a woman’s perfume compared to the elixir that one had the DNA of a man for sure 👍 just my opinion the other ones are very sweet and powdery not the elixir
I am confused between Sauvage EDP and Parfum. I like the sandalwood when the parfum dries down. EDP is more subtle. No overpowering notes. Both have excellent longevity on my skin.
EDP is the best with the Very Cool Spray a close second (sadly discontinued)
I love the Edp and Elixir the most but parfum smells reeallly good too its so smooth and edt is fine but not my taste. I would say N.1 is both edp and elixir and then N.2 is Parfum and last is edt
Parfum is the best to me
I have said the parfum was one of the best since it first came out even when everyone trashed it.
Back in the day EDT was the killer beast in terms of projection like Kouros. Can you tell me why i fell an old man vibe to the EDP and parfum, but i like the EDT and Elixir? Is that some kind of weird soapy musk combo in those two?
EDT is the only one id continue to buy. Unrelated but bleu de Chanel edp and parfum is better than all dior sauvages imo
if ure 18-30 years old n living in south east asian (country mostly sunny like sout east asian) EDT is the best. period. i own all of it btw.
I wish you would put the colognes on the screen. So I don't have to skip around. Good video though.
Elixir is so overhyped on UA-cam and overrated most people don’t care for it, so many egos are hurt here…thank you
Smells like somebody put extra dose of lavender and nutmeg over Sauvage EDP. Weird and synthetic smelling. It's not bad but it's not worth the price IMHO. But we do have different tastes so I understand why some people like it. I like LV - Ombre Nomade and a lot of people call it synthetic mess. And it is synthetic and overpriced but I and many others like it. So I guess, to each their own...
Excellent. Well done. Your presentation style is immaculate. Hope you are welll
The eau de parfum is by far the best in my opinion, the opening lacks the extremely piercing, sharp ambroxen/bergamot, chemical smell the EDT has. Smells much smoother and more refined.
The elixir is just obnoxious and unpleasant. I get a migraine within 15 minutes everytime I attempt to wear it, even with only 1 spray.
Elixir smells like black licorice to me I don't like it either. EDP is definitely my favorite.
@@darkknightlight I don’t think it smells like black licorice, personally, i just think it smells so synthetic and obnoxious. Wearing elixir anywhere other than outdoors should be considered chemical warfare.
Aaron how would you describe the smell of oakmoss? What are it's traits? I own Elixr and EDP. I bought a 6 oz of EDP because it is modern masculine perfection. Fresh, dark, spicy, woody, the job will get done! Best compliment I ever got was from EDP in the WINTER SNOW
Your batch is 2023 ? How its you performance ?
Your batch is 2023 ? How its you performance ?
Parfum is my fave too your soo good at what you do much love I'm buying your fragrances as well
François Demachy created this line. He recently retired which is sad.
this hurts to to read
Excellent !
This is a very interesting video for me, Sauvage is what sparked my current interest in men's fragrances and is the line I know best. I initially felt a little disappointment when I first experienced Elixir but the dry down won me over hard and now the others feel like pulled punches by comparison.
I'd like to see this for the YSL Y line :) And Armani Code line :)
Glad i just bought the parfum and not the elixir, can’t stand the people that wear the strongest concentration scents and use too many sprays thinking its nice when it actually puts people off because they can’t breathe without choking.
Interesting review of all the dior sauvages i have 3 of them the edt the parfum and elixir and the parfum is my favourite too, all ain't shy in performance but the edt and elixir I've found get a bit sickly for me after a while and the parfum doesn't
The Elixir gives me middle-aged upper middle class man in church vibes. Not a big fan
Elixir is a beautiful masterpiece of a fragrance with insane performance.
My Favourites.....
Parfum and Elixir ❤.
The worst Version ist the EdT. It smell too Chemical to me. I can't stand the ambroxan Overdose
Brilliant comparison! Very informative. Well done Mr. Hughes!
I would of love to have your parfum in my collection but shipping duty cost is ridiculous. I'm not going to pay an extra 100 euros for shipping
I have learned sign language and great fragrance with that video.
The elixir is waaaaay waaaay overdone with the spice smells like a grandads fragrance
jeremy fragance tried to fool us all by saying dior sauvage edt was the best from the line just to cater to cheap people who dont want to spend a little more for the better concentrations ( edp/parfum/elixir), same with bleu de chanel edt, the edts from both lines are the WORST from the line, the worst performing, most generic, most overused, more cliche, and more metallic and synthetic smelling, sauvage parfum and elixir are the best.
Amazing video idea. I have none and am looking to get just one for the hell of it. It’s basic but where I live not a lot of people wear fragrances so it will be good for me
The opening of Elixir is head drilling for me and even after a while it still smells like condiments, although synthetic, like some Chernobyl ginger bread, can’t associate it with a perfume,at all. It s beyond me how people say this is a compliment getter, i tested it with 2 other people and they also said it s a very weird scent. Now dont get me wrong,I can see it s good quality, the performance is amazing, maybe too good but I cant find it enjoyable a bit.I almost feel like people pretend to like this just to feel special🤷🏻. I could see this smell maybe being suitable for a 60+ guy but even then there are hundreds if not thousands better alternatives
People exaggerate compliments all the time LOL. Also perfumes smell different when smelling the sillage or up close. Elixir does not smell bad from afar but up close it's cloying mess, for my nose. imho. I think people call it masterpiece because it's so strong. However if you remember fragrances of yeasterday they were all strong. Fahrenheit, Kouros, Chanel N5, etc. They were all beasts. And less synthetic smelling. But hey, whatever works for them. Even though you and me don't like Elixir, someone else likes it.
I hope you do this for Bleu de Chanel
Absolutely love the Elixir
Exlir is my least favorite aswell.i really dont get the buzz.😂😂😂 edp and parfum are my favs.
Elixir 7 out of 10.
EDT 5 out of 10.
EDP or PARFUM 4 out of 10.
Sorry guys, Sauvage is not an interesting fragrance anymore.
Glad you reviewed them all together. I love every one. I think Sauvage is Francois Demachy's ninth symphony. 😁
I wish I had your gift for discriminating a fragrance and dissecting a fragrance the way you do bro 🫶🏽 you have grown as a perfumer/reviewer the old you b4 the misdiagnosed psychologist and this current Aaron are substantially different Aaron’s you still a deva 🫶🏽 but more balanced… more opened minded to the business aspect of things

Why not in the summer?
For me, the best is Edt and Elixir
Love this video format wher you compare different frags from one line. ❤
