  • The widow of a former Cumbrian policeman killed while riding his motorcycle spoke out today about the heartache left behind after a road traffic collision.
Cumbria is a popular destination for bikers who want to get away from the congestion of some of the North of England's towns and cities, but this has brought with it a tragic rise in the number of people killed and seriously injured on the county's roads.
Cumbria police work hard to educate motorcyclists and enforce road safety laws in the hope that they will encourage motorcyclists to slow down and drive more carefully. They hope that hearing first-hand about the grief caused by losing a loved one may help get this message across.
Jim Murray from Kendal was killed while riding his motorcycle along the A6070 on Easter Sunday 2007. He was 53-yrs-old. As a former police officer and police driving instructor he was an experienced and careful motorcyclist.
