I understand that pc is overall better. I built my own PCs several times. Had multiple different rigs. 1060,580,6700,6800,4070Ti. I sold it my last one. Bought a 4k monitor and PS5 Pro and Series X. I’m a casual gamer and I play mostly CoD and Fortnite to relax after work. Busy work/family life. I spent more time on my pc tweaking settings and fixing things than gaming. With these consoles I hit 4k 120fps and just turn it on and play with no issues. And coming from only 1440p. This is a nice change in quality. Sometimes I do miss my PC but I don’t have to stress about it anymore. And I have my Xbox for GamePass. I sold my pc for over $2000 and bought all these things with that money and it’s been great. I have a Samsung galaxy laptop for basic computing. Also I have worked in iT, so this is a good change in pace.

As long as consoles continue to offer that plug and play experience at a cheaper price, consoles will continue to be very popular. And I will continue to buy consoles. If the Xbox/Steam console rumours turn out to be true then I’m also interested in that as I would love to play my PC library on the big screen without having to move my PC. I love playing on my high end PC, but also love playing on consoles.
People forget just how poor and paycheck to paycheck Americans TRULY are. In my line of work, i see it almost daily. People will save an entire year or TWO just to save $550 for a console (including tax). Two years to save barely $500 is insane!
I really just like the steam library setup. Showing all my games in one spot instead of jumping on different consoles. Also wall paper engine is maybe my favorite part of pc gaming😂😂
To me it was when I realized that consoles have to be connected to the internet to download games, install updates, and all that. Also the lifespan of a console is like 4-5 years after that you have to buy a new one. The ps2 gen was the last one that did not have internet but even those had the ethernet port on the back of them. PCs have everything all at one place.
I just put together a ryzen 5 7600x build with a rx 7600 and 32gb of ddr5 ram. I love being able to play all games from all gens including emulators on one box. I got it hooked up to my 1440p gaming monitor abd also hooked up to a 4k sony for controller gaming. I wish I would of went PC a long time ago.
When I transitioned from a console to a pc in 2021 it was literally night and day in terms of how well it ran. The image quality and clarity is much much better. All I can say is consoles now have been very impressive and hope they can keep improving🤞🏻
Its all fun and games until you see a 4090/7900XTX on a LG OLED pushing your game to 4K120 like butter. Really makes you give side eye to your console.

Over all I think PC gaming is kind of a big waste of money at this point. But yeah I totally understand my Nvidia 4070 Super 12GB GDDR6X is better with 33.5 teraflops than the PS5 Pro. But overall I have more than 500 games across PS12345. Where as with Steam I own 43 and 40 of them are copies of games I already own on PS. And to me it's not really about frame rate, because yes indeed you get the best frame rate possible on PC. But now it's become just play for fun and I own the most games for PlayStation consoles. And I totally understand it's different for anyone else, as someone else may have more games for Xbox or Nintendo.

Even though I have a very good desktop pc, I still play on my ally as much or more than my pc. Definitely more than my PS5 and Xbox. Ally is such an awesome handheld.
1) I don't think there's many people that actually think that a PC can't be connected to a TV. Most people these days do at least have a laptop if not an actual regular non gaming desktop. It's more about the talk of powerful gaming. Most people just don't want to have a Tower or Mid-tower PC sitting in their living room. Just because of the size to begin with (let alone the issues that reside on PC). & yes, you can do your homework to figure out the best parts & case measurements to try to build a smaller more compact PC build. But that's more work & more costly than just going with a tower/ mid tower (let alone a console). 2) yes you can put together a "console like" experience. But it's not an actual console experience. Console is just a much quicker/ everything just works experience. That just simply doesn't have any of the issues that PC has. Even as PS5 Pro has added in a lot more PC style features & settings. It's still free of the actual issues that live on PC's. 3) There is a lot of homework & setup to even get your PC to a similar console like experience (each possibly making it closer & closer). But never actually hitting that true console experience. I know, I setup all my PC's these ways and it's never truly a true console experience. There's sacrifices on both sides. You just have to choose which one you want to go with. PC is the best for PC gamers. & Console is the best for console gamers. I personally use PC as my secondary platform. Mainly for PC exclusives & mods. Console is just a much quicker & smoother experience. No random issues or at least far far far less chance of a random issue happening. If I have a quick 20 minutes to jump on a game real quick. I'm turning on the Console. I know it's going to boot quicker and I'll load into the game and into a match wayyyyy quicker. Being able to actual utilize my 20 minutes better. Whereas on PC, I may boot it up (which will be slower even though they've each been setup with a "remote boot" solution that goes straight into "Controller Mode" launchers). It'll be slower & I may turn it on & it go straight into an issue. Whether it'd be windows updates. Which could take a whole 20 minutes by itself 😂 (Depending on how many actually updates are in that massive update). Could be an app or software update. Individual game launcher updates. Could be any binder if driver updates (for any particular device or component). & any one of those updates can throw off your settings for something somewhere. It can be a headache if this is your only platform for gaming. Most PC games also prioritize mouse & keyboard. Whereas Console Prioritizes controller. Not all PC games support controller. Some only have partial controller support. & some have full support. Some games have aim assist taken out of the PC version of the game. Some games you can use something like "Steam Input" to get a controller to work. Sometimes Steam input doesn't work at all. You can use something like "reWASD" but, you'll find yourself repeatedly uninstalling & reinstalling it. Because some games anti cheat won't let you access the game (or even ban you) if they detect reWASD is installed on your PC. There's just a lot of issues that I don't see a lot of Pro PC guys ever mention. That I feel are very important issues to make clear to console gamers when telling people PC is better. Things people should be made aware of before spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on a gaming PC & end up finding out those things the hard way.
Steam creating a console would be cool, I always had interest in the original Steam Machines. That being said, I am at a point in my life where I have my high end gaming PC for the majority of my gaming. When it comes to hardware that I can't upgrade, I have more interest in PC handhelds like the Steam Deck as 1) its cheaper 2) It works great for secondary gaming since it all these handhelds have video out. Thus for a couple hours in bed or whatever, I can hook it up to a projector and play. Its not a great as my PC, but these handhelds get the job done and the majority of my library can be play on them. This is how I see myself gaming for a long time to come.
Rog Ally was actually my introductory and finding out PC isn't really that much fo a pain in the ass thought. I'm 100% full time PC now and love it in comparison to console gaming.

Whether we like it or not STEAM is about to change the game! If steam comes out with a console that will par with the PS5 and The XBOX and the can afford to take a loss on the system because they have the software just like they did with the steamdeck! IT IS OVA!!! Then you will see both Sony and Microsoft become 3rd party publisher! PC is the future! Steam is the future! Consoles are dead!. I will be very surprise if in 5 years consoles still around.
Steam has already tried this before and failed (about a decade ago with the "Steam Machines"). Not saying they won't try again and possibly have a different outcome. But they've tried before and it was a small console sized PC targeting the living room TV. It was still expensive & still niche. The steam deck is also still niche. Only a few million sold. Even though it's the most popular PC handheld of all the PC handhelds. It's still niche & has only I think around 4 or 5 million units (definitely less than 10m). That's less than even Xbox (50m XB1 or Series currently ain't 30m). Nintendo & Playstation sell well over 100m units. & like doc said, you can put together a "console like" experience. But it's not really truly the same experience. Console is just a quicker/ everything just works experience without the issues that PC has. I have all platforms (PS, PC, XB, Switch) I'm actually downloading game updates on my PC right now. & PC is my secondary place to game. But there's a lot of issues that PC has that console just simply does not have. & for that reason, Consoles will always remain relevant with console gamers. You don't really see people point out some of the major issues. That people that switch to PC that are console gamers end up finding out. And they end up continuing to game on console as well as a result.

Steam is just looking to streamline PC gaming for console gamers who don't want to learn the technical side of PC gaming and that's fine they can do that. Just like with the Steam Deck though it's not just to promote and sell a living room centric gaming PC or home theatre PC. It's to get more support for proton and dethrone windows and they are slowly chipping away at it as we speak. Before the Steam Deck came out Linux was less than 1% of the market to almost 5% now. The anti cheat services are starting to implement proton support also. At the end of the day what Valve or Steam wants is to make proton a windows alternative and they are doing that. Also SteamOS3 runs games better than windows since it's a much lighter OS that doesn't take as much resources like windows since they constantly run spyware in the background unless you cut off data collection.

Hi, I game on PC and consoles. I like PC because you can customise it to your liking. Consoles are good because there specfic sets or hardware which game develpopers can tailor there games to. I agree that exclusive games are coming to an end. I read a while back tnat more than 50% of Playstation games will be on PC within the next few years. It seems to me that Sony and Microsoft are pushing people to game on a PC.
Well, while PC for sure can have the best teraflops performance and best graphics and best frame rate for sure, it's not the best for some people because of the problems they can face with Windows errors and installing DirectX drivers, freezes, blue screen of death, black out screens, all kinds of Windows problems. So while PC is great and can do way more than just game, it can have a bunch of problems versus how easy it is to use a console. I'll keep my gaming PC, but I made a list about 9 months ago of why I should overall just stick to PlayStation consoles. Reasons not to own a gaming PC or an Xbox Series X. #1. Some games on Windows require mouse and keyboard for menus and settings. While some games have no controller support at all! Only consoles have 100% controller support for every game! #2. On steam I only own 44 games. 41 of them I already own on PlayStation consoles. 3 of them are PC exclusives but I seriously don’t care about. #3. On Xbox Series X I own 143 games I already own or can have on PlayStation consoles. I own 19 exclusives but have already played them in the past anyway. #4. I own over 500 games across PlayStation 1, 2, 3, 4, 5! Why own other consoles and PC? Besides Nintendo anyway. #5. While Windows does contain a more likable interface with the taskbar, it lacks iMovie, Photo Booth, Time Machine, Calendar, Stickies, Text Edit, and Launchpad for all applications. All applications which I love to use and are only for Mac. #6. Consoles are at the point where graphics are the same as a gaming PC. Therefore there is no point to own a gaming PC. #7. While I like the Xbox controller, that doesn’t give reason enough to own the console that has no exclusive games anymore. #8. Windows has issues like malware, viruses, slow downs, hacking, blue screens of death, DLL errors, and sudden black screens. #9. Games on Windows have issues with DirectX, Unreal Engine, modders, multiplayer games with users using keyboard and mouse, DLL errors, exe errors and much more. #10. I’ve also had issues with Xbox Series X where it has slowed down, freezing screens, black screens, won’t change my background, won’t change my color, won’t change my avatar, and all of the sudden controller doesn’t work at all. I’ve had three Xbox Series X consoles and these issues happened on all three of them. #11. Frame rates aren't a big deal as really only matter in multi player games. Which I choose not to play anymore because you don't earn any trophies in multi player. So there is really no need to get a Windows gaming PC as I don't care about frame rates in games. I care about the video visual quality more.
there are more games hitting steam than are shown at the awards. If you go to steamdb there is a calendar that shows the top wishlisted games each day that are launching. Usually a minimum of 2 every weekday

I use Moonlight app on xbox. I play my PC games on my Xbox on my couch. It's great. I can even still use Xbox party chat while playing cross platform MP. It's even wilder when I play Helldivers 2 on my Xbox with an elite controller thru streaming.
Correction his PC shines on a 1080P monitor. His PC is built for 1080P high settings at 60+FPS. My PC is a Ryzen 7 5800X3D and a RTX 4090 I can play whatever I want at native 4K or upscaled 4K with ray tracing and frame generation. Depends on the hardware inside the PC.

I just bought an 34 inch curved OLEd on sale. Steam and PC is the future. Xbox and PlayStation both bend the knee to PC. My only issue is I still want to game on my OLED tv and my Steam Deck & ROG Ally don’t look and run games as well as consoles on it. I hope Steam makes a console. Consoles are no longer viable anymore because the games of today are way too big. PC is where it's at now, the graphics are much better and surpass consoles in power. You can buy/or build a PC per your budget and upgrade along the way.

It is the reality. You just start your PS5 and game. That´s it. Cleanest UI ever. Only your games in a list and that´s it. Store is build in, media is completely seperat withc shoulder button. Updates are in the background automatically and there are no launchers. It will work 100% without any weird issues that can appear. Just plug´n play. Buy a disc, install it and you can start it even before installation is complete (most games are playable which doesitplay prove) without any update (optinoal in most cases). It is a different experience. With every physical game you can buy not only for a better price (in most cases like steam price at release), you can also sell it and trade it again. So Online if oyu needed, is easily paied. But you get even more money back. And PSN sales are more like Steam sales these days. Windows 11 on the other hand is a load of s*. You have to disable and remove a lot of stuff, to make it more clean. With Console you are more focused on the game, not around the game (numbers, fps, settings, drivers and so on). Shader loading was also annoying to me. It only makes sense if you really want the best graphics and games that are not on console. Otherwise, you can pla ymost games on console and the graphics are close enough in most cases.

Some games you can use something like "Steam Input" to get a controller to work. Sometimes Steam input doesn't work at all. You can use something like "reWASD" but, you'll find yourself repeatedly uninstalling & reinstalling it. Because some games anti cheat won't let you access the game (or even ban you) if they detect reWASD is installed on your PC.
There's just a lot of issues that I don't see a lot of Pro PC guys ever mention. That I feel are very important issues to make clear to console gamers when telling people PC is better. Things people should be made aware of before spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on a gaming PC & end up finding out those things the hard way.
Steam creating a console would be cool, I always had interest in the original Steam Machines. That being said, I am at a point in my life where I have my high end gaming PC for the majority of my gaming. When it comes to hardware that I can't upgrade, I have more interest in PC handhelds like the Steam Deck as 1) its cheaper 2) It works great for secondary gaming since it all these handhelds have video out. Thus for a couple hours in bed or whatever, I can hook it up to a projector and play. Its not a great as my PC, but these handhelds get the job done and the majority of my library can be play on them. This is how I see myself gaming for a long time to come.

Rog Ally was actually my introductory and finding out PC isn't really that much fo a pain in the ass thought. I'm 100% full time PC now and love it in comparison to console gaming.

@@severinevans346 yes, but it most likely won't be a platform where you can code game files or mod pvp games. You'll have the steam workshop and stuff but others thinking it will be a PC where you can modify the game files changing codes etc most likely won't happen.

Whether we like it or not STEAM is about to change the game! If steam comes out with a console that will par with the PS5 and The XBOX and the can afford to take a loss on the system because they have the software just like they did with the steamdeck! I will be very surprise if in 5 years consoles still around.
Steam has already tried this before and failed (about a decade ago with the "Steam Machines"). Not saying they won't try again and possibly have a different outcome. But they've tried before and it was a small console sized PC targeting the living room TV. It was still expensive & still niche. The steam deck is also still niche. Only a few million sold. Even though it's the most popular PC handheld of all the PC handhelds. It's still niche & has only I think around 4 or 5 million units (definitely less than 10m). That's less than even Xbox (50m XB1 or Series currently ain't 30m). Nintendo & Playstation sell well over 100m units. & like doc said, you can put together a "console like" experience. But it's not really truly the same experience. Console is just a quicker/ everything just works experience without the issues that PC has. I have all platforms (PS, PC, XB, Switch) I'm actually downloading game updates on my PC right now. & PC is my secondary place to game. But there's a lot of issues that PC has that console just simply does not have. & for that reason, Consoles will always remain relevant with console gamers. You don't really see people point out some of the major issues. That people that switch to PC that are console gamers end up finding out. And they end up continuing to game on console as well as a result.

Steam is just looking to streamline PC gaming for console gamers who don't want to learn the technical side of PC gaming and that's fine they can do that. Just like with the Steam Deck though it's not just to promote and sell a living room centric gaming PC or home theatre PC. It's to get more support for proton and dethrone windows and they are slowly chipping away at it as we speak. Before the Steam Deck came out Linux was less than 1% of the market to almost 5% now. The anti cheat services are starting to implement proton support also. At the end of the day what Valve or Steam wants is to make proton a windows alternative and they are doing that. Also SteamOS3 runs games better than windows since it's a much lighter OS that doesn't take as much resources like windows since they constantly run spyware in the background unless you cut off data collection.

Hi, I game on PC and consoles. I like PC because you can customise it to your liking. Consoles are good because there specfic sets or hardware which game develpopers can tailor there games to. I agree that exclusive games are coming to an end. I read a while back tnat more than 50% of Playstation games will be on PC within the next few years. It seems to me that Sony and Microsoft are pushing people to game on a PC.

Well, while PC for sure can have the best teraflops performance and best graphics and best frame rate for sure, it's not the best for some people because of the problems they can face with Windows errors and installing DirectX drivers, freezes, blue screen of death, black out screens, all kinds of Windows problems. So while PC is great and can do way more than just game, it can have a bunch of problems versus how easy it is to use a console. I'll keep my gaming PC, but I made a list about 9 months ago of why I should overall just stick to PlayStation consoles. Reasons not to own a gaming PC or an Xbox Series X.
#1. Some games on Windows require mouse and keyboard for menus and settings. While some games have no controller support at all! Only consoles have 100% controller support for every game!
#2. On steam I only own 44 games. 41 of them I already own on PlayStation consoles. 3 of them are PC exclusives but I seriously don’t care about.
#3. On Xbox Series X I own 143 games I already own or can have on PlayStation consoles. I own 19 exclusives but have already played them in the past anyway.
#4. I own over 500 games across PlayStation 1, 2, 3, 4, 5! Why own other consoles and PC? Besides Nintendo anyway.
#5. While Windows does contain a more likable interface with the taskbar, it lacks iMovie, Photo Booth, Time Machine, Calendar, Stickies, Text Edit, and Launchpad for all applications. All applications which I love to use and are only for Mac.
#6. Consoles are at the point where graphics are the same as a gaming PC. Therefore there is no point to own a gaming PC.
#7. While I like the Xbox controller, that doesn’t give reason enough to own the console that has no exclusive games anymore.
#8. Windows has issues like malware, viruses, slow downs, hacking, blue screens of death, DLL errors, and sudden black screens.
#9. Games on Windows have issues with DirectX, Unreal Engine, modders, multiplayer games with users using keyboard and mouse, DLL errors, exe errors and much more.
#10. I’ve also had issues with Xbox Series X where it has slowed down, freezing screens, black screens, won’t change my background, won’t change my color, won’t change my avatar, and all of the sudden controller doesn’t work at all. I’ve had three Xbox Series X consoles and these issues happened on all three of them.
#11. Frame rates aren't a big deal as really only matter in multi player games. Which I choose not to play anymore because you don't earn any trophies in multi player. So there is really no need to get a Windows gaming PC as I don't care about frame rates in games. I care about the video visual quality more.

there are more games hitting steam than are shown at the awards. If you go to steamdb there is a calendar that shows the top wishlisted games each day that are launching. Usually a minimum of 2 every weekday

I use Moonlight app on xbox. I play my PC games on my Xbox on my couch. It's great. I can even still use Xbox party chat while playing cross platform MP. It's even wilder when I play Helldivers 2 on my Xbox with an elite controller thru streaming.

Correction his PC shines on a 1080P monitor. His PC is built for 1080P high settings at 60+FPS. My PC is a Ryzen 7 5800X3D and a RTX 4090 I can play whatever I want at native 4K or upscaled 4K with ray tracing and frame generation. Depends on the hardware inside the PC.

DOC I agree with you! I’m tired of the lies from Microsoft. If they don’t believe in Xbox consoles why should I. I bought a 3070 3 years ago and it’s amazing. I just bought an 34 inch curved OLEd on sale. Steam and PC is the future. Xbox and PlayStation both bend the knee to PC. My only issue is I still want to game on my OLED tv and my Steam Deck & ROG Ally don’t look and run games as well as consoles on it. I hope Steam makes a console. Microsoft needs to pay for their incompetence and negligence when it comes to console gaming. I hope the SteamOS destroys and finishes off Windows for good

It is the reality. You just start your PS5 and game. That´s it. Cleanest UI ever. Only your games in a list and that´s it. Store is build in, media is completely seperat withc shoulder button. Updates are in the background automatically and there are no launchers. It will work 100% without any weird issues that can appear. Just plug´n play. Buy a disc, install it and you can start it even before installation is complete (most games are playable which doesitplay prove) without any update (optinoal in most cases). It is a different experience. With every physical game you can buy not only for a better price (in most cases like steam price at release), you can also sell it and trade it again. So Online if oyu needed, is easily paied. But you get even more money back. And PSN sales are more like Steam sales these days.
Windows 11 on the other hand is a load of s*. You have to disable and remove a lot of stuff, to make it more clean. With Console you are more focused on the game, not around the game (numbers, fps, settings, drivers and so on). Shader loading was also annoying to me. It only makes sense if you really want the best graphics and games that are not on console. Otherwise, you can pla ymost games on console and the graphics are close enough in most cases.
