Intros in many genres were much longer on the past, people's attention spans have just grown shorter and shorter and that's led to intros being super short to accommodate people's non existent attention spans.

While i do agree with this list !
About Blink 182 and Sex Pistols.
I think both are equally relevant to the Punk scene and music in general.
Its just that the 30/40 year olds from now remember Blink 182 from their young years. But the 60/70 year olds remember the Sex Pistols from their young years.
Those bands are equal for their generation.
And in another 30 years it will be another band for sure.

Blink 182 gets a bad rap from the punk rock community. There earlier songs were a bit more raw fast pop punk. They opened up for Pennywise before Enema of rhe State blew up. The video outlaatsted many of the boy band videos they were moking back in the day.

I think Enter Shikari did hold up. Personally the way I see it. This song is like the bridging gap between the old school Metalcore like Avenged Sevenfold, meets the new Scene Metalcore, with the riffs, breakdowns, and the electronics. As well as the star power involved with the song. You can tell even though it's a small venue, the band is giving it all they got. As well as being involved with the crowd at all times. And on a personal opinion, this was just as important as Stick Stickly because, the song itself can be a bit messy, but it's much better structured than that song by Attack Attack, this sounds so 2006, but not too different from Asking Alexandria in 2008 as well as I see Stars.

Amongst European scene kids, 'Sorry You're not a Winner' was one of the biggest songs of its time and it kickstarted this trancecore sound which would later become Crabcore in Europe. Without them, the sound would not have taken off as it has, I guess. It may have been Attack Attack for the US, but it was Enter Shikari and later Asking Alexandria for Europe.

I actually think Rou has a pretty good voice. It's more of an old-timey type of head voice instead of a bratty nasally pop punk voice. More like Sinatra and less like Tom DeLonge. I get why people would find it strange but I like it! It made them sound distinct. That and the fact that they would throw a wider range of electronic sounds than just the typical eurodance breakdown.
That being said, the main reason people dislike them is because they never really tried to fit in the metalcore scene and because the guitar player said in one interview he didn't like Pantera lool.

I think it’s clear that everyone liked them the whole time, it just became okay to admit it once you became an adult. Once one person admits they like them, someone else feels safe and can come clean as well. @@ty6633 haha. I actually got a (very big) BMTH-inspired tattoo as soon as I turned 18, I really loved CYB, haha. It was on my back however, so it was easy to hide.
I remember when TIAH… came out and it blew me away. I actually am one of the few fans who love every era of the band. Their sound and subject matter have grown with me and my life every album, they have truly become the soundtrack to my life.
Gonna explain why here, so if you don’t care just skip this paragraph. As I said, CYB was me in high school, so the basic hating a girl for breaking your heart, talking about cheesy metal stuff like the death of firstborns, etc. SS was college age me (and them), getting really into drugs and partying, enjoying a lot of pop music and not being ashamed of it. TIAH was, like Oli, me realizing I was becoming an addict, getting into more eclectic music like electronic (this was before the EDM boom, and before it was even called EDM). Sempiternal came out when I got fresh out of rehab, and by that point I had a huge hunch that the band or at least oli was struggling with drug addiction as well, bc there were lyrics from SS-Sempiternal that were super innocuous to any average listener, but to a fellow junkie I knew exactly what he was saying and getting across. I couldn’t even find forums online discussing his potential drug use due to his lyrics, they were so esoteric that most folks had no clue that nearly every song off of the three album span of SS-Sempiternal was almost entirely about addiction. Anyways, he came clean about his drug use at the AP awards, and I felt vindicated as well. Sempiternal was also him getting into more Buddhist and eastern ways of thinking, while still bashing the religious 12 step methods of recovery (as I did as well. Still don’t go to meetings, been clean for nearly a decade or so now). TTS was him maturing further, in terms of sound, songwriting, and mental state. Him realizing there was more to life than focusing on your dark past and moving on. That was when I finally decided to pursue my (now former) career. Amo and the new record were continued growth, finding out who you are and what it is you’re about, and being able to blend everyone you’ve ever been into who you are now, in their case sonically, and in my case existentially, not hiding from who I’ve been but realizing I’m still that person, and it makes me who I am today. I can’t be who I am right now without having also been who I was ten years ago, or fifteen, etc.
Anyways, I love that band. They aren’t always my favorite on any given day, but they have unintentionally been the soundtrack to my life (keep in mind, these changes and ideas of subject matter came out AFTER I was already going through them, so there was no planning it; id be dealing with something and the band I liked would drop an album that was totally different from their last and somehow EXACTLY what I was dealing with during the whole lead up to that album, honestly kind of crazy). They’re a common thread of music that I listened to 15 years ago and still listen to now.
Edit: also, my vote for their best album has to be sempiternal. I know it’s not the hipster vote, but it was clearly when everything clicked for them. There isn’t a single skippable song on that record. Also, vocally, oli leveled up like five levels. TIAH is by far the worst album of theirs vocally, oli sounds like shit the whole time, haha (bc he was on drugs). There is definitely a level of rawness to it, which I do love a lot, and lyrically it’s also their most raw album for sure (outside of the newer one), but I think sempiternal just took what they were trying to do on that record and perfected it. TIAH is probably tied with Post Human for second on my list.

I'm from New Zealand and I have never experienced this personally. I understand even the thickest accents from Britain, as well as all the many accents from people whose first language isn't English. I only struggle if a person has really poor English, and I mean really bad. Even then I work through it. I have however had a few Americans struggle to understand me, but only on certain words, as well as slang. Brits and even Canadians have similar slang to us, so it's generally the Americans who trip up on that.
It's weird, living in a small country of 4.9 million, with a unique accent, we get exposed to all the other accents and vernacular a lot, and understand it perfectly. But America is so big, and so American-centric, that Americans don't often encounter other accents, so you have this weird situation where communication is understood perfectly in one direction but not the other, in ostensibly the same language.
      Sorry I just love language.

I hate elitist mindsets on anything but if you aren't trying to make art you don't make music you make irritating noises. As far as comparing death metal, the question asked was answered perfectly as to how early bmth and attack attack did not make anything that resembled music. Every genre is comparable and anyone who has ever made music can tell you that. I can compare amon amarth to the classic and power metal bands that you can hear very clear influence from even though the genres have tonally different sounds. You can't hear any influence in early bmth or attack attack because they simply had none it was literally just unintelligible and inaudible noises with no talent behind it.

Sorry You’re Not A Winner became massive in the UK. It started off in early 2006 as a scene kid song, but by the end of the year was so well known that the clapping part drove us all nuts 😂 as everyone in the school playground was doing it. By 2007-2008, ES was really popular among preppy kids/norm kids and were starting to get absolutely massive. I’m surprised they’re not bigger to this day tbh and have less than a million Spotify monthly listeners. I think they’re still very popular in the UK but not nearly as much as 10 years ago when they were all over the festivals / radios.

I’ve always been into hip hop/rap for basically my whole life. But went through a couple years in highschool of mixing some metal/deathcore/hardcore in the mix. But my friend Ethan was super into anything heavy. I remember the day he showed me Emmure and thought they were so dope. He showed me some good bands. Emmure, BMTH, Despised Icon, Suicide Silence, Iwrestledabearonce, a lot of crab core bands (were from Ohio and a lot of those bands were too), he showed me a bunch of shit. This was back in like 2008-2009. I didn’t even hear Pantera until then. I didn’t listen until Kill Switch or As I Lay Dying until he showed me them. Basically all the heavy/hard shit I liked and listened too he showed me. He would show me the heavy shit and get me into it and I’d show him the good rap/hip hop at the time. We would go from listening to No pity for a coward and then the next song would be Kiss me through the phone by Soulja Boy lol. Or like Kick A Door by Gucci Mane and the next song would be Death Breathe by BMTH. Just all over the place.
