Thank you my friend ! You explained it really well. I followed your tutorial exactly for my F40. There are just plastic hooks that I didn't have in my vehicle but everything else is identical. Well done, we support you

For anyone interested - it is possible to replace battery without removing the air box as I found out today, however take care with the battery securing bracket as aligning the sliding bolt at that angle is a bit tricky which resulted in the parts separating and sliding under the air box, requiring me to partially remove (anyway) to retrieve. With a bit more patience and play it probably would have been achievable. Battery comes out and in at an angle rather than sliding out as much. Although as per video it only takes a few moments to free the air box to give better access. Plus dropped a socket head into the engine bay, but managed to retrieve it with the use of a strong magnet sliding it along the under engine road cover out to one side.
Very good video. I understood that the vehicle must be constantly powered with 12V so that it does not lose the configuration of the radio and other systems.
Your change was from a 70 Ah BMW battery to a new 80 Ah Varta. Still you didn't need to code the new one and you didn't have any problems? Thank you very much for your video. It is very educational and will encourage me to do it myself with mine. It has been more than a year since he stopped doing the start-stop and when I charge he recovers it, so it is a sign that he is dying. User profiles lost? Radio stations and memories were lost? Problems after changing the windows and electric roof? Thank you
Thank you! I have installed a 70Ah battery, just in the video I have two of them one 80Ah and one 70Ah , but if you install a bigger capacity battery you need to code it , it’s recommended!I all the new batteries are dying very fast , it’s a common problem! Everything must be working without losing any programming, I had never a problem like that!
Thank you so much. My battery is from 2016 like my car. It is the one that came from origin. As you say, when it changes it won't last as long for sure.
I have a 2018 bmw x1 sdrive that needs a battery replacement, so what your telling me is that as long as the new battery is the same voltage as the old one , I DO NOT NEED TO REGISTER THE NEW BATTERY? Because if so that would save me money. Hope you can reply! Very helpful video as I will be doing this tomorrow !
Hi ! The voltage is 12V in every car ! You must install the same capacity ( the Ah ) if you have 70Ah battery install 70Ah !then you don’t need to program it or coding! Like I have do on the Video! If you have 80Ah then install 80Ah !
@@CARSPARTSTOOLS Thanks for the video. It is very useful. I have a 2018 Xdrive F48 (Diesel) and My question is that it does not need to be programmed separately after replacement? I appreciate your reply.
Hi ! If you install a battery with the same capacity (Ah) like in your vehicle there is not necessarily a programming! It must be 70Ah or 80Ah… check this before buy a new battery! Thank you 😊
@@CARSPARTSTOOLS Thank you very much for the quick reply. I'm grateful for that :). I also ordered the battery today. "main rehearsal" at the weekend 🙂
Great video and very helpful. Also appreciate the last piece of info re the Start/Stop. Based on that info, I suspect my Start/Stop is not currently working due to battery needing to be replaced. Do you think this is correct? Thanks
Bmw dice que se tiene q codificar una bateria nueva , hay que decirle al coche que cargue la bateria como una nueva , no como una de 7año , tiene su logica , por eso las baterias nuevas no hos duran
Hi ! The New batteries don’t last long because of the use of vehicles…. I have changed batteries on 2 or 3 years New cars, only because of very few use of the car ! I think all the new batteries just have a bad quality also ! The battery management is not so smart like we think to understand how old is a battery, it just regulated the power of the alternator and the endurance of battery to use the start stop function! Like also the automatic battery save mode which can turn the lights off or the ignition (for example) to save power for the next startup! Thank you 😊
Lg 😊

I have a 2016 and have to say could BMW put any more crap in the way to remove a battery OMG, great video, one question you didn't cover or mention registering the battery, is that something you have to do or just something BMW wants to charge you to do?
Hi ! If you install a battery with the same (Ah) capacity you don’t need to register it or coding it! Only if you use a lower or higher capacity battery you must to program it in battery management!
@@CARSPARTSTOOLS Thank you, I wish I found your video sooner, everybody told me I had to have it registered or would risk damaging the electrical system somehow, ugh, battery was 265 and registering it was another 167 and bmw tried the must have oil change now or timing chain will be damaged blah blah, car has 28k miles on it and only been 2k miles since last one, another 150 they wanted to stick me with, won't be going back there. I guess now if I just match whatever they put in, won't need to register if I have car that long, thank you very much.
Hi, Brilliant video if you install the 80AH - 800A, would this be ok? whats the benefit? assuming this will need programming if compatible? currently my car is 70AH - 720A amazon are doing the Bosch S5A08 - 70A/h - 760A - assume this doesnt need programming and straight swap?
Hi ! If you install a 80Ah current 70Ah it’s recommended to programming it! This is the original recommendation! But I think you will have no space to install a bigger battery! I have this problem once! Thank you 😊
Exactly, that’s why I said first to check what capacity battery you have and then buy the right one! I have tried once to fit one bigger but there was no space!
In the description I have Write all the information about the battery , the original part also ! But always check for the battery number on your car ! Some times it’s different
I was wondering why a garage charged my mother $150 to replace the battery on her X1. Now I know. Batteries have to be replaced periodically, so why design the car with a battery hidden under a lot of plastic parts? That makes no sense to me.
I can not really answer you to that question! I believe that the engineers don’t think how you will replace or repair something, they just think about how to make a product quickly to sell, by the way this new batteries are much more expensive and get much faster empty than the old ones! Thank you 😊
