This song is soooooo underrated
there's something about this particular live version that blows every other live version of Cave away

I’m a guitarist but this song belongs on the piano and his voice is just incredible
It is good, but guitar version still wins. Especially the lives during the Showbiz era
The synergy between them on this performance is pure magic - magnetic, hypnotic, infectious… Purely in sync. One of my favourite Muse performances ever - thank you for capturing, and sharing, this moment x
Personally, I think this is a significant improvement over the old live version of this song. It sounds better in a lower key and Matt's actually playing the piano parts on the piano, rather than the guitar. I really like this. I do hope that they play this again on future tours. :)

No way, this version is lacking all the energy of the guitar live performances. Not to mention all the small guitar parts he adds, the soaring epic vocals and the climax at the end which is far more dynamic

To sing such a difficult chorus while playing the piano is really not easy... Sure, Matt's a genius, but what's a genius without hard work ? I can't imagine how many hours of practice are behind the concert awesomeness. Muse
I personally love this remix of Cave and the one they did for Unintended at the Wembley Stadium in 2007, I'm pretty sure it's because Matt's voice has gotten too deep to do the songs from the Showbiz album so they have to remix it to match the vocal chords he's capable of. I hope they do this for other songs like Showbiz Sober and Muscle Museum.

@@haralabospap7091 I never said he can't sing them, but they're too strenuous now. I honestly believe that Matt Bellamy's voice isn't losing range, I just think that he has to conserve it more now because of how often they are performing now, and their shows are twice as long as they used to be. That's why he could still record the falsetto at the end of Madness, at the end of Get Up & Fight and the falsettos in Big Freeze, even though they are not pulled off live. Just to clarify, Madness is played live I know, but he doesn't belch the falsetto at the end anymore.
My guess is that you responded because they brought back Muscle Museum and Showbiz. But they played those songs on a lower key, and not their original key, so it still proves what I said. The Showbiz album is one that now has to be sung in a lower key, except maybe Sunburn.
@@Chico50445 yeah, I do get what you mean. Matt also has said that his voice gets tired more quickly (probably because he got older) but in the end he is not losing range. I still believe he can hit those G#5s (he did in the 2nd law tour on Survival, of course I'm talking about live performances). It's just getting more and more difficult to hit those notes as he ages.

It’s a natural thing, vocalists tend to pitch down as they get older. He probably CAN hit those notes, but it puts strain on his voice and since he has a 2+ hour concert to play it’s best if they just pitch the whole song down a key. Everyone does it
Glad to see someone else reads Musewiki! It's so interesting to learn all the details behind the songs. Hadn't read about this being a keyboard mounted on a piano case though, or I've forgotten. Leave it to Matt to reinvent an instrument! Love both versions of Cave, with and without the guitar, fainting is a huge likelihood in the presence of this great band.
I didn't saw this piano version,by now ! It's brilliant,like all the piano songs played by Matt.But he does it so rare,lately.I love his piano skills.And i realize,that this is the best version of Cave.Overall !

They took it down half a step so it's just under the bridge of the vocal, you only get so much mileage on tour when you're blasting out notes on the bridge usually.

But they had a clever way of changing the song to fit in the half step down vocals, unlike other songs such as Starlight, Mk Ultra, Sing For Absolution, Darkshines and Madness where they simply tune down all the instruments by a half step.

well I don't wanna be a bummer, but I don't agree at all... This version is very nice but I really felt that it lacked aggressiveness or power so caracteristic of muse's early years. I really missed the guitar I guess... Those high notes in the solo just give me chills
Not saying the piano improve sucks or anything, but i wish matt would at least play cave one more time with the guitar before his voice got destroyed in 2014.
