- Nice interview with Matt Bellamy from Muse, aired on german TV on the 17th of September 2009. Rather discussing the influence of lobbyists on politicians & ways of peaceful protest against suppressing corporate powers than the album. In other words: Matt's in top form ;-) The interviewer's accent is dreadful, though (no, not all germans speak english that way!)
People don't see how intelligent he really is.
Matt is a genius
I'm past obsession with this band. They are the first thing I listen to when I wake up in the morning, and the last thing I listen to when I go to sleep. their music is just as much a part of my life as breathing.
Same.
Same
same
I know this comment is 9 years old-- but curious -- still as big of a Muse fan? I feel like I fall more in love with them each year!
@@KimTmomof3 Huge muse fan, just got done listening to won’t stand down!
I already liked Muse but after this interview I have a lot of respect for this guy.
intelligent man and great musician. got so sick of music about 'hoes and bling' and now we have a band thinking about what haarp is and the general political system. brilliant stuff.
I hope in the last seven years your music taste has broadened beyond an ignorant comment like this
A true artist. Brilliant and engaged with his moment in history.
Matthew is totally right. Everything he says in that interview is so true. If only more people were becoming aware of the actual situation...
Thank you Matt for restoring the truth!
The more I listen to him, the more I love him.
How couldn't I?
He's wonderful,a wonderful artist and a wonderful person
His so beautiful and magical and meaningfull hands !
I'm a straight guy, but damn he has a cool look - sweet hair and shit
religulous420 yaaaassss... just my comment.... except for the hetero guy part 😋😋😋
ok... pay attention, stacy
I know I’m late but ain’t matt Bellamy straight
I love how no matter how many times he's in front of a camera, he always seems a tad bit nervous. Always shifting around, and if he's standing, not standing still. Love him :)
Definitely he is a intelligent guy, extremely clear about everything going on everywhere in our planet.
This interview made me fall in love with Matt Bellamy ❤ he sounds so intelligent.
OMG! What a beautiful man! I love Muse! Best band ever for me
Wow. Matt is so inspirational. "Make the best of what you have"
Matt can really have a conversation haha
PaulGilbertrulezzz aww but, he still, can't quite sit still xD
This just proves what an intelligent, talented, creative and handsome man Matt Bellamy is! He is certainly one of a kind.
Undeniable talent and style :)
So true Matt. I'm 15 and my school has little to no focus on the political system. And when the topic is raised.. the only response we recieve is one of a biased nature in favour of whoever the teacher supports. They will not force us, they will stop degrading us!
the best thing about the genius, this legend, is that he's one of a kind and there is NO ONE like him, in fact i dare ANYONE out there to find someone better than bellamy, cause there is no one like him!!! he's humble, brings classical music and rock together, writes his own songs, GREAT songs, awesome guitar skills, and just him himself he's just so unique!!! in fact he's my top inspiration for when i want to learn more about music!!!! he's just that amazing!!!
Matthew James Bellamy, you are the man to change the world!
he really is too modest :)
its rare to see a musician talk so passionately about other issues and actually know what they're talkin about
One of the many reasons why I have an unlimited respect for Matthew Bellamy
Matt's a genius and one of the best musicians ever in my opinion :)
Muse is my favorite group and there is not one song that I don't like, they are all my favorites! Thank you Muse. C(8
i agree with Matt each album does get better
but what i trully love is that No album sounds the same so in a way we dont get tired of Muses sound
they change up the sound but still in a way still keep thei great style
and thats what keeps me a long term muse fan and what i love
This is stunning... I knew all the references before he mentioned it.
"Change in the air, and they will hide everywhere". They, who rules us in the shadows without our noticing.
It's so refreshing to hear someone actually talking sense. I live in an area where I feel like I can't really express my own views or even talk about politics neutrally. Even when studying sociology in school most of my class mates have quite a right wing view of the world, which I don't hold against them...but... this video is so lovely
love his music and him he is a very amazing singa :) he is just perfect
god look at him, that's why i'm so proud of being a Muse fan!!
Matt Bellamy is so fucking beautiful it's unfair.
At least we’re around to enjoy it :)
Muse makes music with a massage. Good or bad they get u thinking.
I love the questions!
And the answers!
I like that He is very careful not to generalize. Also--he has very nice hands...
I love the way he talks, the way he thinks, sings, plays guiar, piano, everything!!!!!! A complete and consecuente man, love you Matt, endlessly...
very well spoken and great hair, wish i had hair like his
Saw Muse in February, best concert I've been do (and I've been to Deep Purple). He didn't talk to the audience during the concert, except a "thanks" at the end, and I was kind of dissapointed, but then I realized, he's not one to address a massive crowd charismatically; his ideas are rich enough to be spoken in conversation, where you can really listen to what he's saying; true artistry, in my opinion.
I truly love this interview!!! I think is Matt's best interview ever!!!!! well done Matt!!!!! well done!!!!!!! xxx
The Resistance must be one of the greatest albums ever made. I seriously don´t understand people talking like they want Muse to sound like their previous albums. Strange, really strange... it is actually great that they are showing their ability to make all sorts of music. They are different from anything else we´ve ever heard. Do we like it? YES!!!!
What are your thoughts on the subsequent albums?
I'm seeing muse in november so i'm also a fan. I'm not slating the new album, i'd just rather hear their older stuff when i go.
He is a beast.
The God of all gods.
Superior to the race of dull humans.
i love how he sounds so intelligent and normal here, yet on a vid i just watched he was jumping around a stage throwing his guitar about :D ahh matt i love you
Thank you for posting.
Muse is excellent.
Great message, great music, great talent.
I couldn't ask for more.
love.
Not only does this show hes an amazing artist, I mean his lyrics are not just made just to take up time but it proves his absolute deepness. I mean, Bellamy takes something such as an economy book/ corporation book into a song which individuals from all over the world can connect to. WOW.
He's amazing. Me and a friend were talking about Muse to our Art teacher and she said 'Matt Bellamy? Oh yes I knew him when he was younger!" I had a fit :P
for those who ae interested in Matt's philosophies and knowledge.

Interviewer: listening to your new album, the single "uprising"
"They will not force us they will not control us!. Who's they?
Matt explains while he was working on the album, usually readed a couple of books and he mentions "Confessions of an Economic hit man". is a book written by John Perkins and published in 2004. Search in Google if you want to know more about it.
That guy interviewing him got his syllables mixed up!
"Do how what what what what do how how yes why when who what where why?" 😄
Reminds me of the meme; Have you ever had a dream that you, um, you had, your, you- you could, you’ll do, you- you wants, you, you could do so, you- you’ll do, you could- you, you want, you want them to do you so much you could do anything?
I've just realised that he's just a normal guy like you or me but with an extraordinary talent. I think it because his voice sounds like the average bloke where I'm from.
"Animals" fucking blew me away man. Check it out.
I love the way he argues about politics and crises, it's also lovely the theme crossed by the album, in my opinion The Resistance is the continuation of Black Holes and Revelations because it tries to wide and touch what triggered in 2006 but the sound is reasonably different. If you poke around you notice how different it might be, just for example Undisclosed desires is a sort of pop track and it doesn't tally with their typical style, nor could you catch any akin tune on Black Holes. I definitely love this band, it's a vent of craziness and strength but it holds a sincere purpose towards the growth and the improvement in everyday actions, even concerning the troubles we usually get into. Sadly their latest album got aloof from my expectations and it doesn't suit my faith, due to the commercial tunes they kept to and to a lack of inspiration I feel whenever I listen to Madness.
Matt and Muse make the world a better place.
People constantly banter me with their disapproval of The 2nd Law. Personally I love the album, and It tremendously annoys me when people complain so much. If you don't like the album, don't listen to it.
Yeah I agree, I think once you dispel any preconceptions it's an amazing album, people just have a stigma against dubstep that led to blind criticism
Tims View
Explorers made Muse my favourite band. They were always second and although everyone else might think Explorers to be just ok, I do think that that song has such power on the listener. It's not a powerful song but can bring so much love to our hearts for this absoloutely brilliant band
I liked it more than The Resistance but in all honesty both albums were fairly equal at some points.
Omar Lopez Well, it's a shitty album.
@@dissuede6949 no its not, its great just like all their albums. If you only like them to sing or write songs in a specific way then you're not a fan of the band just a genre and they dont fall under any specific one.
The man of my life.
I can relate. I have always loved music. Why this band affects me so deeply I have no idea.
I love this man.
Im not a big muse fan, but their a great band... i like how Matt uses his position to bring awareness to the people through music and lyrcis...
Not many artsist do, espacially when they get big and contracted... that last one seems significant
I watch his interviews just cos I love his voice :)
that man is a real artist.
real art is the art which is shared to all from the artist.
an artist that makes art only from his personal experiences that only has to do with him is not a real artist.
bellamy's inspirations are from the people and life around him,and muse make music from that.they are not only ,what we usually see, a band for itself.
congratulations muse.
he's just the perfect person, smart in every way and also the best guitarist/singer/pianist in the world!
Damn, how can he put his hairstyle like that? I love it! And even with gel, I can't put my hair like that lol, One of the best guitarrists and singers ever!
it's so spiky😂
he's soooo INTELLIGENT i don't know what to say more...
thanks for posting!
wow during this interview I got curious, I googled "matthew bellamy" and then ... it's his birthday today :D happy birthday Matt ! I love you more and more every time I see a video of you ! keep going, I cannot live without your music anymore ! (pfiou, it is one less midnight, otherwise it would've been too late !)
A great interview, thanks for this.
His mind works too quick it can't keep up with his mouth:-)Love Matt- talented and humble.
I didnt know he was so smart... Wow, he continues to amaze me daily.
He seems like a very down to earth type of guy. Honestly, Matt, Pete Loefler (from Chevelle), and the head singer from Thrice (his name escapes me at the moment) all seem like just awesome guys. I would most definitely have a drink with 'em!
I Miss You Matt ♥
I can't wait to see him in person when he comes to a concert here!
I am amazed that Matt and I share one thing in common.
(just like me, I have never been into politics)
His accent is bloody brilliant. Muse has been my favourite band since they formed really. Their songs make me smile and sometimes even cry. I really hate politics. Not as much as muse does, because most of their songs (e.g Uprising) are about being anitdistablishment. I love Matt and I love Muse's music and they are just bloody fantastic.
Hi from 2022 Matt! Glad to see you were on it. What do we do now?
It's kinda cool when he talks about the record company and the reason they chose to work with warner is that they had full control of their own making. They will not control us.
I think I'm in love with this man
thx for posting!
I totally agree, will never be able to beat the early Muse.
I can't stop staring at him when he talks..he captures you!
Not to mention Explorers. So sad, but beautiful.
Saw muse the following year in december 2010, in melboune was one of the best moments of my life :D
Nice posting thanks!
I just LOVE his r's :D cute Matt..
Btw, I think it's a great interview. He deals with bright and deep arguments and show he's not just a skillfull musician, but also an intelligent man. Good one :D
I love Matt!!! Muse is Epic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great questions,Matt gives thoughtful and intelligent answers.
My God, my hero, my idol!
wow he is so amazing!
Like the way he speaks. Rare in musicians.
how much i love this man how much i love this man how much i love this man???
OMG his voice sounds sooo different when he says "I think i think that..."
HE is gorgeousssss IM in luv with this man and his banddd..!
I
*sigh* he's so wellspoken. so intelligent.
When I listen to people from England talk, my head just spins. Well, some. He seems so intelligent, knowledgeable, cosmopolitan in a sense... I wish I had these qualities.
Matt is unique. You can take away his amazing vocals, guitar and piano skills AND his goodlooking face and body. You can take all that, and still, men like the reduced Matt doesn´t grow on trees...
I pretty much worship this man.
He looks so friendly here.
After listening to they're music you realise that they are different from the majority of people.Matt Bellamy proved to be highly intelligent and right about every aspect he talks about in this video.
"The political classes regard the general public like a cattle".
Sad but so so true.
Last but not least.......Muse rocks!!! :D
fucking hell this is the first time i have heard him speak and judging by his singing voice i expected him to sound like bloody gandalf or something
Great interview.
@TheIamSTEVE there is a reference to 1984 in the song Resistance (you'll wake the thought police) but there was clearly a wide variety of inspiration for their Resistance album
Pure soul
well, matt that's what it is. same goes here in malaysia. we need more people like you to sing our thoughts and opinions out. they just won't listen through protests.
