    as an FYI this is still my no1 goto bike; my middle son has called dibs ( despite me building him a rd125lc mk3) so when he moves out it will then go. I am building a ty50 to replace it; I built one for my eldest and its just such a pretty bike. The rd400f went to a new home. The rd350lc is still the most sorted of all my bikes and with microns is just so awesome. The bike I built for my youngest daughter- a honda pc50 I will be buying off her at some point as its just great; the honda 400/4 is now being put together after its second restore ( had it that long!); and the NSR250mC28 still scares the crap out of me... There are 3 bikes in bits in the attic but for the love of god don't tell the wife!

      Brilliant, you sound like me, I have 16 bikes and 10 of them are in bits (don't tell the wife there are 16 of them) I am building a KH/DT125 street scrambler at the min, also have a Honda PA50 with C70 engine and running gear at an early stage, a 1972 Yamaha 125 Enduro early stage and the main build on hold is a PFIZZER 1E with AM6 engine, CBR 125 wheels etc.

    We only had RD 125cc LC in Sweden from 16 yeras old to drive. I had one 1986 with Ypvs and was one year old then. Red white and I think it was rated to 25hp. In year 1987 Yamaha release the TZR 125cc with 27hp and my friend bought one brand new. The funna was he had the same RD LC Ypvs 1985 i had. His framemot nummer ende on 310 and mine on 311. Then his TZR had 311 in the end. Regards from snowy Sweden. 🇸🇪

      I built my middle son a Mk3 RD125LC ypvs.... awesome bikes. A TZR250 3MA is on my wish list. I am restoring a Honda NSR250 MC28 at the moment... when I first rode this I nearly flipped off the front of it, the front brakes are crazy good. I imagine the TZR will be the same.... I'm really trying to find an exhaust like that for my dt50mx, sounds amazing right know I'm running with a big one system fresco pipe. Think it would look awesome on it. Always wanted ago on the rd50+80. My DT seems to do the same as your rd gets to around 45-50 and has clutch slips

    • @motobrikerestorations1354
      @motobrikerestorations1354  6 років тому

      I am finishing off a RD125lc for one son; and trying to find a TY50 project to restore for another son. I think the clutch slip is tired springs; when its ridden by the kids they have no issue as they quite a bit lighter than me. I made the exhaust using bits found at www.fs1shop.nl/advanced_search_result.php?search_in_description=1&keywords=exhaust&Submit=

      @@motobrikerestorations1354 ah cheers mate yea I actually solved the slipping by having a dt80 3 place clutch on instead, but just now bought a rd80mx engine to go in the frame see how it goes mixed opinions on the 80 engine faster or slower people say the 50 has better acceleration, it'll be rebuilt as it had been in a fire but luckily didn't damage the engine at all but probably best I replaced the seals just to make sure just all depends on how hot it got. Do you have any experience on the 80 engine are they faster or just slightly deeper toned

      @@Declanpyro907 Thats really interesting, I will have a think about doing that. its a matching numbers bike so the engine is staying but it does have a 'big' bore barrel and larger carb. With the 'spannie' exhaust its pretty nippy even with me on it. With my kids it fly's. I am building a TY50 for my eldest.

      @@motobrikerestorations1354 that's awesome ty50s are great yea my engine is a matching one to but I have a few spare ones ive rebuilt for fun and profit my matching has also go a big bore to does around 50 with me on it weighing 13 stone full tuck with a 13 front and 45 rear sproket still has its original 16mm carb upjetted to 115 but I would like to get a bigger carb for it, the rd80 engine will be fun to strip down have all the bearings,seals and gaskets waiting only just recently finished a dt50mx engine I got from a scrap yard that was in a right mess but a very good runner now

    ...standard, these things are only good for 30mph. This one has been de-restricted and has a bigger carb. It looks and sounds great.

    • @motobrikerestorations1354
      @motobrikerestorations1354  3 роки тому

      There are no restrictors on these like on the later bikes but you are correct about the exhaust and carb making a difference. I had to fit a homemade exhaust to my fizzy to get it to pull me up the hill as I am 50% heavier than when I was a kid.. I bought an Aprilia RS50 for my son that was supposedly 'as original'; doing nearly 50 on the way home I had my doubts. I eventually tried fitting an exhaust with the restrictor and was horrified as it made the bike lethal as it kept it out of the power band so you could stop it with your feet.
