Angus Young of AC/DC: “I'm sick to death of people saying we've made 11 albums that sound exactly the same. In fact, we've made 12 albums that sound exactly the same.” Remember “Puzzle” from Band Maid? It’s this “Thunderstruck” opening riff that is an inspiration
The masses told what to think by pretentious music journalists - cheerfully ignored. Bob Marley & the Wailers made albums that sounded all the same then? & Johnny Cash? & The Clash? & The Kinks? & The Who? & Pearl Jam? Or perhaps they found their Groove & embraced it.
'Thunderstruck' was a huge single from AC/DC in 1990 and boosted their career after a commercial slump in the 80's... It pushed sales of their '90 album "The Razor's edge" past 5x platinum in the US and made the band a worldwide phenomenon once again... It is a song of the redemption of AC/DC's career. I doubt 'Elmo' from 'Sesame Street' was inspired by AC/DC's singer Brian Johnson (but u never know 😁) considering AC/DC's entire catalog are songs about sex, booze, partying and rock n' roll... even though most of the band are happily married. The late Malcolm Young had said that they didn't know how to do anything else but play rock n' roll music w/ guitars and write songs about having a good time and just rock out to AC/DC. Brian Johnson (vocals) of AC/DC was actually inspired by rock icon Little Richard... That was where he got the inspiration for his high screams and raspy, bluesy vocals... Brian Johnson started singing even before AC/DC was formed in the 70's and his band Geordie released a few albums before they split up in 1976... Tragically, it was the death of AC/DC singer Bon Scott in 1980 that was the catalyst for Brian Johnson joining AC/DC... Around 1972, Bon Scott's band Fraternity toured the UK and opened for Geordie w/ Brian Johnson on vocals... Bon Scott later told Angus and Malcolm Young that he had seen this great singer from the band Geordie and the guy (Brian Johnson) was screaming his head off and rolling on the stage (What Bon didn't know was that Brian Johnson had appendicitis that night and was in pain) Angus and Malcolm Young of AC/DC were curious because Bon didn't like any new singers, so he had to be good... They tracked down Brian Johnson in Newcastle, UK and asked him to audition for AC/DC in London after Bon Scott passed away ... According to the band, they felt comfortable w/ Brian Johnson on the mic... and he could sing! His voice was even more powerful than Bon Scott's... He sang 'Nutbush city limits' (by Tina Turner) for his audition, and then AC/DC's song 'Whole lotta Rosie'... Thankfully, AC/DC were able to score a massive hit record 'Back in black' in 1980... Most bands of that era did not survive a change in lead singers and would eventually break up.
Fun fact The guitarist Angus Young is a teetotaler. He's the most recognized part of one of the biggest bands in rock and roll history and has never had alcohol
I'm going to show my age on this, but my very first concert was ACDC the Blow Up Your Video tour in 1989 in Knoxville, Tennessee. I was 16 years old and consider myself absolutely blessed to have witnessed these guys in all of their glory live and in the flesh. I've seen many other bands since, but this one was, hands down, was the best I have ever seen.
I don't think Elmo was inspired by Brian but the fact that he was popular before Elmo would lend to the theory that Elmo was inspired by him. Cause , if Elmo came first he couldn't have been.
I saw Brian Johnson over 50 years ago performing with the band “Geordie”. Bought the album the same week! There are youtube videos, like “All because of you” (in B&W!) still available - his voice hasn’t changed!
They practically shut down Zurich the last time they played here in Switzerland with noise complaints coming in from all over the city... they were about 5 miles away playing at an old airfield😛!!!!!!!
You should check out the Bon Svott era of AC/DC to get a full appreciation of the band. Bon had a puckish charisma and was one of a kind. Songs like "Dirty Deeds done Dirt Cheap", " Big Balls"(the song is basically a cheeky middle finger to radio censorship), "Highway to Hell", " Whole Lotta Rosie", and " Its a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll"
You are not the first person to react and say that Brian sounds like Elmo. I love watching these reactions to Thunderstruck, as it has been a part of my life being an Aussie. Always surprised that people dont know them. Watching every person listening to them for the first time, the 4/4 dancing beat they all just start moving to happens every time.
Beautifull young women...with a good music taste, eloquent...Sometimes, as I get older , 50 plus, Im not sorry for things Ive done, bad or good, but Im sorry that I didnt do everything Ive wanted or can do, and trying my best to live time thats left enjoying in my kids...wait to be grandpa and love to show my daughter all good music from 1960-present. It is unbelievable to me that in her class of 30 students, maybe 10 know few songs from The Beatles, or they know that AC DC is a rock band only from T-shirts...18 years old...OK , they dont have to like or listen to that bands, but wtf...fuck it, they have to know basic at least, sometimes hear the message and understand generations before their. If Im 20-30 years younger I will write you a love letter...but now wish you good luck and many many good songs and times in future. PS yes, few words about Thunderstruck...catchy and famous song from a famous band...Most people think about this song when they hear name AC DC...but most of the people who follow theirs music through decades have a lot better songs in mind...like Back in black, Hells Bells, For Those About to Rock, Dirty deeds done dirt cheap, Let there be rock etc...You cant miss with any of this songs. Good luck once again, greetings from Croatia have a good time and sorry for my English mistakes...
Maddy I think the crowd numbered 100,000 and their jumping up and down damaged the foundations of the stadium and buildings outside. After that concerts of this magnitude were banned there
If you're gonna listen to ACDC , it's best to start with their first album to the current . Most reactors start with " Thunderstruck " and think it's the greatest. Start with Bon Scott.
I don't hate you 🥰😍 This song was in the Super Mario movie, Deadpool 2, Daddy's Home 1&2, Delivery Man, The Longest Yard (2005 version), Varsity Blues, possibly others?
Love the reactions...c'mon Maddy be one of the very few reactors who've reacted to Thunder...either "Low Life in High Places" or "She's so Fine" official videos. Especially after Danny the singers terrible accident....go on....make my year🤘🎼😀
Great reaction and comments, Maddy! Now you should listen to a couple of unique covers. 2Celloes and Steve'n'Seagulls are two groups that have fantastic versions of Thunderstruck.
I have loved this song since I was 20 (1990). Another reactor stated "HE SOUNDS LIKE ELMO" and has almost ruined it for me. Now I just hear the muppet singing.
That's actually not his voice! He adopted it to sound closer to their original sound. Here's what he sounded like before as the lead singer of Geordie: ua-cam.com/video/sKCtHOICXtE/v-deo.htmlsi=2gXzaZMWB3yT3TTe
This has to be the greatest Blow Job song ever written!!!!!! The lads obviously enjoyed their tours in Texas over the decades and after all our ladies do know how to have/give a good time!!!! Obviously it impressed them enough to make a song about it!!!!! Just saying!!! So says Austin Tx!!!! 😎🍸
A reporter once asked Brian Johnson how he kept his voice so strong. Brian smiled and said, " Whiskey and a pack of cigarettes a day!" Brian is actually soft spoken with a very pleasant Newcastle (aka "Geordie") accent. You might want to check out his previous band Geordie. They did a very nice cover of the song, " The House of the Rising Sun".
I would love to hear one of your favorites. U way younger than I am. I want to see you when you were 20. Love ur show maddy. Hope I spelled that right. Lol.
Maddy you should check out Thunderstruck by Steve'n'Seagulls cover, I don't know if it's worth a UA-cam vid but it's a great bit of fun wiht the unique instruments they use.
This is truly live in front of 90,000. AC/DC do not using "backing tracks" that are ubiquitous now among everyone. You really think that is Taylor Swift singing?
I don't think anyone could hate you😍🥰 This song has been in The Super Mario Bros movie, Deadpool 2, Daddy's Home 1 & 2, Delivery Man, The Longest Yard (2005 version), Varsity Blues, possibly others
Hello how have you been?. Love the most of your videos. I would like to ask you for a video about the song Dear Prudence by Siouxsie and The Banshees. Regards.

AC/DC...Sells out...around the world....every time!!!

his voice is 'rock and roll elmo'
Seeing ACDC in concert is about as much fun as you can have - AWESOME!
Fun fact
The guitarist Angus Young is a teetotaler. He's the most recognized part of one of the biggest bands in rock and roll history and has never had alcohol
He smokes like a Chimney, was turned on to methamphetamine by Lemmy from Motorhead in the late Seventies and also used Weed..
He’s the biggest reason they have lasted so long.
Teetatalers abstain from alcohol. Nothing to do with meth, cigarettes, or cannabis.
But thank you for your... I dunno... Words?
I heard he hits the chocolate milk big time.
Angus did try alcohol once in the 1970s but didn't like it and never touched it again 😀😀

I seen them 3 times in concert and they are top notch all 3 times.))))
best audience experiance ever !!! what a party !!!
brian swallows razorblades before each performance. brian was doing this way before elmo
I don't think Elmo was inspired by Brian but the fact that he was popular before Elmo would lend to the theory that Elmo was inspired by him. Cause , if Elmo came first he couldn't have been.
One of the most recognizable riffs and songs of all time!’ ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
I saw Brian Johnson over 50 years ago performing with the band “Geordie”.
Saw live concert in the 70's. legends! Angus one of the best guitarest ever
Maddy is dropping bangers today! Lovely as always, too! 🔥 🎸🎼🎶☮️
Angus Young didn't realize he'd be wearing the schoolboy uniform for the rest of his career.
i was a kid when i first heard this song now im 25 and a huge AC/DC Fan
Another banger that made my day. Thanks Maddy!!!!
Glad you liked it!!
I remember hearing the guitar riff & the band chanting in the intro when I used to go to the Miami Dolphins football games with my dad & brother.
You should check out the Bon Svott era of AC/DC to get a full appreciation of the band. Bon had a puckish charisma and was one of a kind. Good reaction! (Whiskey, Cornflakes and a Roll-up for breakfast) lol 🤣👍🏴🏴🇬🇧🇭🇲
When Bon Scott died, I would not listen to their new stuff for a lot of years. But I do now.
Every time I watch this video I always think of how scared shitless I would be if I was in this crowd and fell down and nobody noticed.
Right, BJ's voice is his and one of a kind, easily recognizable.
Semper.Fidelis
now watch ACDC "let there be rock" at 1991 live Donington you will never believe how the great band rocks!!!
Battleship............great movie to go with the song!!!
Always a true beauty ❤️. Amazing reaction..
Of course Elmo was inspired😂 I hope you like Elmo, your gonna hear from him soon. One movie is varsity blues
😂
Seen them live in concert, awesome show they put on yay 🎸🎸🎤🥁🤘😆🤘
You made my day with the Elmo question
I don't know, but I totally understand
You are not the first person to react and say that Brian sounds like Elmo. I love watching these reactions to Thunderstruck, as it has been a part of my life being an Aussie. GREAT SONG CHOICE TO REACT MADDY
Jim Breuer does a great Brian Johnson impression.
Movies? Well, I think Deadpool 2 used the song, when his X-Force team jumped out of an airplane.. until they all started dying.
Suggest some of the early AC/DC with the original singer Bon Scott. Dirty Deeds, It's A Long Way To The Top, TNT, The Jack and many more.
Such a great classic
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
Maddy I think the crowd numbered 100,000 and their jumping up and down damaged the foundations of the stadium and buildings outside. After that concerts of this magnitude were banned there
Omg!!
Elmo (WHAT)😅😅😅😅
Close your eyes and listen 😂
🔥🔥 Maddy , ......" you have been ................. .......... .............................. ........... ......... 👀 .......... ................. ........ ............... 👀 ........I.................. " .... 🤭
He’s just like you. One of a kind.
You grew up different sis. But is powerful. 😊
Great reaction Maddy. Please try 'High Voltage' from Live in Donington 1991 for them at their finest (with Brian)
You would swear Brian Johnson's voice shouldn't be coming out of a human. 😎
😂
Angus!!!!
Always love your reactions!.
I appreciate that!
If you're gonna listen to ACDC , it's best to start with their first album to the current . Most reactors start with " Thunderstruck " and think it's the greatest. Start with Bon Scott.
AC/DC Elmo - a question for the ages! 🤔
😂
I don't hate you 🥰😍 This song was in the Super Mario movie, Deadpool 2, Daddy's Home 1&2, Delivery Man, The Longest Yard (2005 version), Varsity Blues, possibly others?
Oh wow!!! So many!
Thanks to you, I now have an image in my head of Brian Johnson singing "la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la Elmo's World" 😆🤣😂
Battleship.
Love the reactions...c'mon Maddy be one of the very few reactors who've reacted to Thunder...either "Low Life in High Places" or "She's so Fine" official videos. Especially after Danny the singers terrible accident....go on....make my year🤘🎼😀
For a symphonic ACDC cover, try Orions Reign cover of thunderstruck
watch whole lotta rosey from the same show
Their music may be a little formulaic, but damn.... it's a good formula. 😁
Elmo??? 🤣🤣 That's actually pretty funny... never gave it a thought until you said it, lol.
😂😂
Yes, Elmo! Maggie Renee (Opera Singer) arrived at the same conclusion... You are not alone. @@MaddyReactions
I am sure you have heard this song many times
You've got a great smile, Maddy.
Stevie Ray Vaughan So excited live at the el mocambo, Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa Id rather go blind live, ACDC ride on 😊
Great reaction and comments, Maddy! Now you should listen to a couple of unique covers. 2Celloes and Steve'n'Seagulls are two groups that have fantastic versions of Thunderstruck.

You should listen to AC/DC with Bon Scott as they're lean singer back in the 70s like Highway to Hell or a Whole Lot of Rosie
bangs, dang :)
AC/DC 🤘😉
Big Balls 🏀🏀 by AC/DC
A good song for sporting events 🤪😱🤣 give it a listen ..

Maddy you should check out Thunderstruck by Steve'n'Seagulls cover, I don't know if it's worth a UA-cam vid but it's a great bit of fun wiht the unique instruments they use.
Maddy is back at it like a crack addict!
This is truly live in front of 90,000. AC/DC do not using "backing tracks" that are ubiquitous now among everyone. You really think that is Taylor Swift singing?
Acdc was phenomenal , they are better when they are live concert and that is real music
*It was in many movies but you must be thinking of Ironman that's why. Not bad for a Australian band right?*
Still miss Bon Scott
I have heard that before lol
Whole Lotta Rosie at the same concert is mind blowing its there best performance
His voice is like nails on a chalk board.
Fantastici
Deadpool 2.
I prefer the original band, but if you need to replace the lead singer, Brian Johnson is a great choice.
ok I don't think I ever saw Sesame Street or heard Elmo, so I wouldn't know
I don't think anyone could hate you😍🥰 This song has been in The Super Mario Bros movie, Deadpool 2, Daddy's Home 1 & 2, Delivery Man, The Longest Yard (2005 version), Varsity Blues, possibly others
I wouldn't dream of reaming you in the comments...lol
you were born at the wrong time
Tunderdome.
Hello how have you been?. Love the most of your videos. I would like to ask you for a video about the song Dear Prudence by Siouxsie and The Banshees. Regards.
HELLO MADDY
Hello New Zealand.
I hate live versions. Time to do a 180. ✌️
👍👍👍💕🇸🇪😎
Please swap, make the video large, your screen in the corner.
Yes he's a angry Elmo.
Elmo is Brian Johnson in an alternate universe.

You’re so cute I just can’t!
☺️
Elmo 😆 LOL👍✌️💜
😂
Aack!
Elmo. 😶
Not you too.
Comparing Brian's voice to a Muppet is ridiculous.
😂😂😂
Elmo? I wouldn't be surprised either. 😂
LOL Elmo!
😂😂😂
