I took the "Training" in 1983 and have never looked back. I was there when it changed to the Forum. I took as many classes and volunteered in Atlanta for years. I did the Six Day in NY. The "work" has helped me through some of the darkest days of my life. I will always treasure what I learned at Colony Square and the Georgia World Congress Center. It is and will always be PRICELESS to me.

This man's work has had THE most profound impact on every aspect of my life! I've only completed 3 courses with Landmark so far, starting in 2020, and omg, the difference it has been in my performance in life is unspeakable! Those who judge Werner Erhard don't really get Werner Erhard and what he intends to cause for tranforming what it means to be human, and the difference he's made by his huge stand for humanity realizing the possibilities that are available to them through the power of their word, their promise, which is all powered by completing the past and our freedom to choose.

I first took the training and several follow on seminars in 1973 through out the early 80's. With the work I've done then to now, the journey of relationships with my children, parents, friends and everybody else; hearing Werner sharing again re-blows my mind more impactfully, seemingly! My gratefulness, appreciation and love for Werner's giving myself and us; all he has had to give to this very moment leaves me with a profound thankfulness for the life he chose to live.

I loved Werner as a teen, and had a friend who worked there at the main offices in San Francisco in the late 70s - early 80s. Today listening to these recordings, he sounds controlling, overly complicated, assumptive and a little harsh. But that's okay, he got results and back in the day, this style was not only the first of its kind, but also necessary to get through people's resistance to looking deeper at themselves. Perhaps today with Landmark they do a faster job of getting to the point and allowing people to more simply take it in and start the process of utilizing the potential transformation more quickly... Blessings to a great man and a powerful thinker.

Thank you so much for posting this! I used to have on cassette tape. We are so fortunate to have a quality copy now on UA-cam.
I’ve encountered lots of philosophies over the years about what life is about. To me this is the cleanest and most powerful I've ever heard.
It can be a difficult listen, some will consider it a downer at first glance rather than uplifting. And some are put off by Werner's hard East Coast style of speaking. But I find it to be true and universal. I’ve heard it many times now and always find something deeper each time I listen or reflect on it.
You have to be patient because it seems he’s not getting anywhere at first. But to me Werner lays it all on the line and does his best to use every minute in this 3 hour talk to convey what he has experienced.

I was wondering if there was anything I could identify with that wouldn't be a superstition? I posed this question as a clearing to be in, these are insights which occurred, useful or not.
Who are we? We are the context in which we show up.
Who am I? I am the context in which I show up.
Who are you? You are the context in which you show up.
If it isn't useful to identify in the I who I think I am then what or who can I identify with (if anything at all)? What is beneficial / useful to identify with? Context is that which is beneficial to identify with especially the context we show up in. Right now we are showing up. I show up in my life, dreams and anywhere else I find myself being. I am not the I in "I think" but rather I am being the context in which the thought "I think" occurs... maybe. I listen over and over and different thoughts occur, very useful but I am not always producing useful or "correct" thinking about this. Its best to be in the clearing and look out from there.

    (1) Neither would the stars have moved if Werner had stepped out of DAR Hall and shouted his angry message to them.
    (2) I have good news for you people. The "it" that Werner speaks of here, while the predominant way that human beings show up, is not the only way. It is possible for a human being to show up as a commitment to aliveness. He or she can do this without being right or avoiding domination etc.; those concerns become irrelevant. This is a place to grow into. It is fairly rare, but it does happen. It did not happen to Werner, obviously.
    (3) To state that our lives are meaningless and have no purpose, in the bitter and angry tone Werner adopts here, plainly foreshadows his nasty, burning, crashing fall. Sorry, Werner, but in the ultimate reckoning, you end up being just a very loud guy in a diner.

The daughter who had accused him of abuse later recanted, admitting she had lied to receive an advance on a book. I took the Landmark Forum and it's more advanced programs in 1991 up to 2016 which made a profound difference in my life, my daughters and extended family,, my sister and her extended family. The Landmark Programs require your time, work, and stepping outside the box, being in the inquiry on who you are as a human and how you're being in the world. I invite you explore who you are.
