Hi 3 Gen. A few songs by Gordon Lightfoot that I like are "Alberta Bound (1988 version)", "Rainy Day People", "Old Dan's Records", and "Carefree Highway". 👋🏻🇨🇦
Everyone in Canada thinks Alberta Bound is about Alberta, but it is a song about easterners giving up hope on their economy and pogie and lowering themselves to head out to Alberta where the income is "easy." Not much love in this Alberta Born old dude for Gordon or, for that matter the other Gord... (Downie).
I recommend his song "The ballad of Yarmouth Castle", it's about a ship wreck off the coast of Florida, everyone reacts to The wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald, but they all miss this one, you can be the first to react to it. He's a great storyteller.
Your reactions are as refreshing as your honesty. You all obviously like music and are able to appreciate artists and genres that you are not familiar with. You can fill a Dixie Cup with my knowledge of country music and have plenty of room to spare. That doesn't mean anything except it's not my bag. Keep up the great work ladies.
Supertramp The Logical Song good song for Lulu to hear too. It is just as relevant today as it was for our generation. Same with Sting's song Russians. Just as relevant for Lulu's generation as it was for ours.
As a Canadian i greq up listening to him, like everyone else said, you need to react to the wreck of the edmund fitzgerald, it's a true story..he is known as Canada's greatest songwriter
If you like the uptempo Gordon Lightfoot, check out also "Old Dan's Records", "Cold on the Shoulder", "Bend in the Water" as they all have that country sound you seem to like also.
It's generally accepted it's about his girlfriend at the time, Cathy Evelyn Smith, who later became infamous for injecting John Belushi with the combination of drugs that killed him.
Ladies, I like the new background and I'm glad your back! Ya'll probably know his song "Wreck of the Emond Fitzgerald" Another banger! Good reaction ladies! BABOOM!!
Im really enjoying your channel. You have reacted to my favorite 2 bands Cheap Trick and Judas Priest. And how could you not like Gordon Lightfoot! He has several classic hits!
When you ladies said that you didn't know who Gordon Lightfoot was , I was like here we go again . I gave Donna three beats and Kathy three words into the song before it dawned on you . I was right .
Gordon wrote this song about his girlfriend, he worried about her sitting in bars with the possibility of her stepping out on him while he was writing songs 😉💯
This may have already been mentioned, but Professor Of Rock did a video on this song a while back on his UA-cam channel. The story behind the song is very interesting. Gordon and his lady friend at the time were staying in a cabin for him to concentrate on song-writing. The lady was bored and insisted on going out on the town. Gordon started imagining her cheating with some guy she met that he dubbed "Sundown". The interesting thing is that the lady friend was the same woman who several years later gave John Belushi a fatal cocktail of drugs and went to prison.
The song is about Cathy Smith, Lightfoot's girlfriend at the time. She later moved to Los Angeles and was involved with the overdose death of comedian John Belushi.

(Downie).
I don't think Mr. Lightfoot ever wrote or performed a bad song. He was a troubadour of my era.
I recommend his song "The ballad of Yarmouth Castle", it's about a ship wreck off the coast of Florida, everyone reacts to The wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald, but they all miss this one, you can be the first to react to it. He's a great storyteller.
Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald and if you could read my mind are both worth listening to !
great song.. epic story teller
Moonwoman nailed it ... :)
I absolutely Loved Kathy's reaction ! 😂 I've been a fan of his forever ! Hope you do more of him.
Thanks
Supertramp The Logical Song good song for Lulu to hear too. It is just as relevant today as it was for our generation. Same with Sting's song Russians. Just as relevant for Lulu's generation as it was for ours.
As a Canadian i greq up listening to him, like everyone else said, you need to react to the wreck of the edmund fitzgerald, it's a true story..he is known as Canada's greatest songwriter
If you like the uptempo Gordon Lightfoot, check out also "Old Dan's Records", "Cold on the Shoulder", "Bend in the Water" as they all have that country sound you seem to like also.
must listen to Wreck Of Edmund Fitzgerald from him
It's generally accepted it's about his girlfriend at the time, Cathy Evelyn Smith, who later became infamous for injecting John Belushi with the combination of drugs that killed him.
They both had incredible taste in women, and lifestyles, didn't they?
A must listen is The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald
Gordon Lightfoot suggestions, "In the early morning rain", "Did she mention my name" and "If you could read my mind". 👍👍
Ladies, I like the new background and I'm glad your back! Ya'll probably know his song "Wreck of the Emond Fitzgerald" Another banger! Good reaction ladies! BABOOM!!
Always good to get a hair and britches review!
👍
The guitar player on Gordon's left is my cousin's cousin Terry Clements.
Cool
And the guy on his right is the legendary leader of the Travellin' Men, Red Shea
He was a mentor to dylan later in life🎉
Im really enjoying your channel. You have reacted to my favorite 2 bands Cheap Trick and Judas Priest. And how could you not like Gordon Lightfoot! He has several classic hits!
Glad you enjoyed it
When you ladies said that you didn't know who Gordon Lightfoot was , I was like here we go again . I gave Donna three beats and Kathy three words into the song before it dawned on you . I was right .
I swear you guys should start your own reality show you can even call it The adventures of Honey Lulu
Lol
Gordon wrote this song about his girlfriend, he worried about her sitting in bars with the possibility of her stepping out on him while he was writing songs 😉💯
Sundown is the nickname of a beloved Canadian singer songwriter.
For a Canadian history lesson try Canadian Railroad Trilogy. For an American history lesson try Black Day in July.
That’s always fun😂😂😂,😊👍👏👏👏✌️🇺🇸
Glad you enjoyed it
The woman in question Catherine Evelyn Smith is worth reading about.
You 3 are awesome like you very much
Thank you so much 😀
The song is about Cathy Smith, Lightfoot's girlfriend at the time. She later moved to Los Angeles and was involved with the overdose death of comedian John Belushi.
next reaction should be the wreck of the fitzgerald from gordon it's a real tragic song !
Carefree highway should be the next song
He found out the hard way the woman was a user and player.
Good Stuff !!
Hey Kathy listen to don't close your eyes by Keith Whitley you will love it
Didn't y'all react to The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald ? If you did, you've heard of Gordon. (RIP Gordon)
No, we have not reacted to that song.
Try his great song Rainy Day People!!😊
Quite the adult subject matter for the lil' one.
Try the Canadian railroad trilogy
This is a studio dubbed version. It's not the live vocals.
You're mom's mom reminds me of Loretta Lynn. Now y'all need to listen to Carefree Highway
What's that song that Lulu Lightfoot was singing?
