Making The Gingerbread House From Hell
Вставка

- The best way to celebrate the holiday season is baking a gingerbread house from scratch. This is the true testament of your patience. Can you successfully build this house before the house makes you crack. You start by making the parts of the house-shaped gingerbread cookies, then the royal icing. Get the structure of house put together and let it dry overnight. The next day you pretty it up with a variety of candy. With focus and determination this can become a reality. I wish you good luck and Merry Christmas!

Happy Holidays, Everyone! I hope you enjoy my final video of 2019! This house may have broke me, but I'm confident I'll be right as rain in time for the new year. Thanks to all of you for watching every week, it keeps me going, and I have lots of exciting things planned for 2020.
Your distress just made me and my husband laugh til we cried. I feel guilty for laughing at you but we couldn't help it. We love your channel.
I’m all my years as a baker I have never laughed so hard in my life. This video just brought back a legion of anxiety exorcised a long time ago. All my years living in the darkness that is the beginning of my baking career in one video. Thank you! 🙄😂😂
Rarely have I laughed so hard at someone else's misfortunes. Thank you so very much for allowing us in to see the REALITY of making your first gingerbread house. Your experiences were remarkably similar to my own! Royal icing is a beach.
Hi Jamie and fellow watchers, after trying to make two walls stand up (unsucessfully) I baked a loaf cake for the middle and used that to prop up the walls. It not only made the structure easier to work with but provided extra sweets for the party. After that I always (3 more times) made a gingerbread house with a cake in the middle. I also stopped using any cookie with liquid sugar. this video made me laugh several times. thank you Jaime
I hope you realize what a penchant you have for inadvertent comedy, Jamie...I was literally guffawing watching you try and roll out that cookie dough; got a huge endorphin rush....I haven't laughed this much in a while; thank you!!)😂😂 🤗🤗
I’m dying at 15:00 😂😂😂😂
Well done Jamie! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
😭😭😭
I've injured myself laughing. Loved everything about this! Thank you for making me feel good
burnt sugar is good glue for assembly then the white icing just for decoration
LMAO! that was hilarious! I feel ya, make gingerbread houses every year, and the learning curve is a biach! The Hellraiser moment was an especially moving touch. Great video.
I so enjoyed watching this episode.. when my children were in grammar school I would make a gingerbread house each Christmas.. I would then donate it and the school would raffle it and the proceeds would be given to a needy family.. one year my son won the raffle , he was 9 yrs at the time and I could not convince him to give it back and perhaps give it to needy family as well .. it was a little embarrassing , even when I told him I would make one just for him . My pattern for the houses was printed in the newspaper each holiday.. the decorating was all in your imagination.. love your channel .
Painful and wonderful all at once. (I cussed right along with you.) This might be your best episode ever, Jamie!
The most painful episode ever too, Karen!! 😭😭😭 #*%!
ANTI-CHEF While everyone else is trying to come off as perfect, here you are being as real as real can be. Huge props!
Huge aside-I ground cloves in my coffee grinder and in the process permanently clouded the clear plastic cover.
I know right!?!? I tried every hack to get the crushed cloves outta the grinder...it may be permanent. I’m gonna have to get used to clove tasting coffee!
Thanks Karen! Merry Christmas!
y'all, the can of corn is definitely the VIP of this episode. #teamcancorn
This is the absolute height of comedy 🤣 your videos are so good! How are your subs not millions?!?! Love you Jamie
Best way to end the year watching this video. I laughed and cried with you through your pain Jamie, especially at 7:00. My absolute favourite UA-camr.
So awesome to read this. Thanks so so much Mishi!!!!
Omg I have seen many videos but not all. Having said that, I think it’s safe to say this is top 5 greatest.
Pro tip I just saw yesterday: put parchment paper over any cookies that need to stay flat like this or sugar cookies and a cookie sheet on top, bottom side down so cookies are sandwiched between cookie sheets.
Ah I had heard about that too! Next time!
The impromptu singing is my fav bit of this 15:53
Oh no......hope you like clovey tasting coffee for awhile. Been there..done that. I now own 2 grinders and never again shall the coffee beans and spices meet.
Enjoying watching you so much. It's not often I laugh at a youtube but you have the perfect personality for this. Congrats
This is hilarious! Been binge watching your videos and they are all just too good.
Omg!! I absolutely love this gingerbread Christmas house)
Gingerbread dream home
Oh my gosh me every Christmas when the kids want to make a gingerbread house. I'm mad before I even get started. I literally cuss every time. It's like Merry fu@%ing Christmas family. I hope your happy.
It’s way more fun to make gingerbread houses with someone. I must say your dough seemed a bit wet. You had me laughing, so thank you. ❤️🇨🇦
That was truly an architectural masterpiece...have a great Holiday season Jamie!
😂😂
I am going to hell for laughing through this video.. you are one of the best things on UA-cam
I watched this video and thought why I never heard from that UA-camr ? There are many UA-camrs with 1 Million Subscribers and half of this really good quality. By the way I watched the Gordon Ramsay Perfect Burger Video and enjoyed it too. Go on with this quality.
Thanks so much Phillip! I’m trying to get through, fingers crossed for next year. 🙌🏼🤞🏻
Bless your heart!! That poor house looks like a porcupine! 😂
It turned out beautifully though. I loved the snowy end too! Super cute.
Hey Jamie! Your video is hilarious 😂 I have been laughing all the video long. Please, record more like these and make something big for the new decade! I know you will not disappoint. Big fan here, as you know. Happy holidays, man!!
Love it. I promise to make more like this!
Bloody Christmas legend 😂🎅🤩
Hi Jamie! I’ve been watching your videos from the beginning lol
And at first , I was interested in all your baking videos especially milk bar. That’s what got me! But now! When I’m having a bad day I go back and watch some of these videos they always make me laugh. You are so funny and humble at the same time!!! Thanks for making me smile(well laugh my ass off)
Hi Jamie! i've been binging anti-chef. something about your videos just make the recipes seem so doable. i like that you document your mistakes. but i love your series and i've been steadily improving my baking since then. i'm really excited for my quarter sheet pan and 6in cake ring to come in so i can get through all those milk bar cakes, you know.
thank you! love hearing that! you're gonna rock those cakes!!
I had to make Gingerbread house from scratch once and vowed NEVER AGAIN! I couldn't get the measurements right. I couldn't get it too stand and stay. It was frustrating. It also had the added pressure of it being a culinary school test in a section I was doing.
Our now Annual tradition is to re-watch your Gingerbread House adventures in order. We are truly hope that you will be working on the 2023 version of your Gingerbread! Thank you again!
Oh my God! That was insane!!!!! Sending you a big hug to help you recuperate!
Hi Jamie there is a special recipe for a “ construction” gingerbread and sugar glue which are sturdy and used by bakers that compete in gingerbread sculpture competitions .. great video your house was adorable ..
Was just about to comment the same thing. He has done 3 houses and always uses royal Icing which is the worst for this. It takes forever to dry and always looks messy imo.
Omg I literally have tears rolling down my face. 😂😂😂 This was HILARIOUS!! I really needed a good laugh so thank you! I cannot believe 1. Your house came out so adorable and 2. You didn’t smash it with the can of corn after it fell the 4th time. Happy Festivus! Another amazing job. 😂😂
Haha! I don’t know how I made it to the end. This was probably the most painful episode so far. Somehow I had just enough patience. Christmas miracle!!
I laughed so hard during this episode. Your misery is so funny. I need to rewatch the Home Alone GBH episode now to appreciate how far you've come.
Making it snow! Icing sugar at the end 😂
Wasted my entire special effects budget on that one shot!!!
yes im watching this in the middle of may but this is hilarious! i loved it
Priceless
Hi, I've only just watched this episode...I'm sorry I couldn't contain myself I've sworn for you and at you then laughed hysterically...I'm sorry it was too painful!
The comedy starts at three minutes, I LOVE IT!!!
If you have any molasses left over, you can mix that with regular sugar and make brown sugar
This is the most I ever laughed in one of your videos. Thank you
I've been binge-watching your videos this past couple of days. Most people will use hot glue and royal icing (believe it or not) to hold the house structure. Gingerbread houses here in the US are made for decoration purposes only and not meant to be eaten. When applying the candy your royal icing should have been a thicker consistency.
You're making quarantine more enjoyable with your videos! ❤
I just love your channel
You sure make my day!!!!!!!
You’re hilarious eh?!
You have come a LONG way.
Just think you don't have to do that again till next Christmas. Merry Christmas to you and yours, see you in the New Year.
I can heal from my wounds and try again next year. Merry Christmas, Shirley!
@@antichef and a very Merry Christmas to you and yours. See you in the New Year.
Props to you for finishing.
Advisory: No toothpicks were harmed in the making of this gingerbread house.
This is exactly how all gingerbread house making experiences go tbh. Great video!
The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire! 🔥
*Hits like before watching* I can’t wait to watch this 😂😂😂
your bowl drop is awesome
I wonder if it was too hot in your apartment. Because royal icing usually dries pretty fast. Especially if it's cold
This man is a hero! How can he stand it? He used the minimum of swear words, surely this recipe is for kids after Christmas when boredom of starting?
Birdy
You win the award for creative use of canned goods! Can I request pannekoeken in 2020? Happy Holidays! 😊
That canned corn was a bloody lifesaver
YES! Pannekoeken AUB!
This deserves more views :p
This channel should have wayyy more views. Excellent! I bet it would be fun watching while riding a "bicycle" 😅 🍄👈
Stuff peaks…
Holds up wiggly jiggly dripping peak
I laughed so hard I choked. This is awesome 👏
Omw! You had me rolling with this ! 😂😂🤣🤣
You are hilarious, unbelievable!!!
it’s like watching myself in the mirror 😂😂😂😂😂
It's insane that I am watching this in summer.. I guess I just wanted to have good laugh, so I came to you 🤭
Thank you for the laugh
I watched this for encouragement so that this year it might be easier but I see you struggled at the same things lol
im here after watching your new videos and damn you've learned a lot about the art of cooking. im high and dyyying watching the molasses debacle hahaaha
Watching gingerbread house videos in October high....LOVE IT 😂
I hate to laugh at your misery, but when that house fell apart I was crying laughing. In the end it turned out great !!!
So you’ve made Hell House?
Yes!
This had me laughing evilly HAHAHA
Just in time for x mas in July
❤❤❤
STIFF PEAKS?!? JAMIE!!
I think that was the big downfall of the structure. The glue was not whipped long enough to stiff peaks. But as a viewer....this was ideal 😈
We’re they not stiff enough?!? Sometimes I can’t tell!!
@@antichef yeah sorry lad - they weren't even soft peaks let alone stiff. When you lift beaters they should hold shape without dripping - at soft or stiff. You whippped them to....well mixed stage.
😫😫😫😫 I swear I thought I had them there!!
Love your vids. ALso, I know this is super random, But did Christina Tosi ever send you your goodies?! If so, what/how were they?!
Thanks so much Virginia! Nope! She told me she would send them my way a second time, but they never came. I give up!!
Would love to know what you used the pine nuts for lol.
Should have tossed the icing ing the microwave, and dried it out. Or thickened it up some way.
How do you do the bowl drop gag, bro?
Ohhh my goodness 😂😂😂😂
Have you tried again?
Oh, those peaks were NOT stiff
super cute! New friend Ruthie
Thanks Ruthie!!
All gingerbread houses are from hell. 😂
I think this is the most you ever cursed!
WHO THE HELL THUMBS DOWN THIS VIDEO!!!
My profession was teaching. I remember having students with similar personalities/mentalities as Jamie. I retired early. Correlation or causation?
Try put it together with melted regular sugar instead. You need to be careful though, its hot as hell but works amazing. Just use a frying pan to slowly melt it and dip the sides you're putting together. Then you garnish with icing. Video is funny but I feel sorry for you. Greetings from Sweden.
Haha! I did consider that method at first, and then decided not to. I don’t know why! I should have tried a different recipe in hindsight
@@antichef I think this project is due for a revisit this holiday season, with the caramelized sugar as glue.
Its like Christmas during the quarantine...Happy Molasses for all your sweet asses!
😂😂😂😂I’ll live in the house
It feels wrong to laugh at your pain but then again that's what the video's for, isn't it? Ah, the gingerbread house conundrum - do you use royal icing and have all the pieces slide apart if you don't prop them up, or do you use caramel and potentially burn the shit out of yourself? My wife and I chose the latter. The plus side is that it hardens extremely quickly so you have no worry of sliding pieces - holding pieces in place for something like 20 seconds usually does the trick.
When we made gingerbread houses in preschool we used caramelised sugar to glue the pieces together*
Yes, we're that advanced here in Sweden!
There might have been one or two responsible adults around what with the third degree burn-inducing molten sugar, but the thing inking me the most was why would anyone make a house of delicious cake and leave it on display for twelve days exposing it to aunt Lilly's cigarette smoke when we could just eat it now?
*which hardens in seconds.
Who hasn’t been there?😂
HAUWCE
Removing contents from the bowl is a new theme of yours...
Facepalm
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😅
Does your coffee still taste like cloves?
thankfully not anymore... hahaha
Get a kitchen aid dude!
The one thing I can’t bake is $$$
What a horrible house, there’s no plumbing, electrical or HVAC!
