I felt so bad but laughed so hard at the same time when Jamie was scooping out the raw brownie pie filling 😂
🤣🤣🤣
I love the timing of the siren outside while you reckon with the cookbook issue! This episode is my new favorite-you’re the kitchen MacGyver.
haha that what my favourite part too. It really sums the entire video. Thanks Karen!
😁😁😁
I've never been so excited that a pie was undercooked!
Right?! That came in clutch! I was so on the side of "No Jamie, leave it, make a new crust! You'll just have two pies!"
Had no idea that pie was raw in the center
The most entertaining cookery show on UA-cam by a country mile!!! A real person doing all the things that real people do in the kitchen. You're the cooking equivalent of "If" by Rudyard Kipling. "If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster. And treat those two impostors just the same................... Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it. And-which is more-you’ll be a Man, my son!"
Okay but I really applaud your resourcefulness when you ‘gut’ the pie
🙌🏼🙌🏼
You did a great job showing people that it's possible to fix it on the fly. This is not my grandma's grasshopper pie. For her mint and green, she used copious quantities of Creme de Menthe, so it was a boozy dang dessert.
The way this guy massacres a BAKING recipe, (with which you NEVER mess and FOLLOW THE RECIPE LIKE ON A MOLECULAR LEVEL), but still make it work is just sheer brilliance 🤣🤣🤣. Excellent job !
He's hard proof that the "baking is an exact science" thing is a myth. I keep telling people it's not that big of a deal, but honestly just showing one of his videos proves my point better than any argument I can make 🤷
@FaerieDust my understanding is that some recipes are an exact science, but most other recipes you just need to know the basic chemistry and proportions of a dish. Those proportions and how the ingredients interact are something you learn over time and at that point, you can go rogue. It's not something people normally think of as chemistry, but it very much is chemistry. So basically, it's a science, but not usually an exact one.
I applaud you for your patience and ingenuity! 👏🏻👏🏻
i don't know if it's patience or having to finish what I've started
I am surprised you did not mention why this version of Grasshopper Pie has such a weird name. Maybe it’s because I am older than dirt, but the creme de menthe Grasshopper cocktail was popular in the 1950-60s though it is much older. Typical recipes for this are far easier to make and lighter too - basically a refrigerator mousse pie.
Dude...this was a major rescue operation. It looked like all was lost but you recovered! I want this desert when I come to visit in your new home. Well done!!!
I don't know if I have it in me to make this again
I cannot believe I only just found your channel. I immediately subscribed!
3 hours to make something I can get in the store in 10 minutes?? How are you not slightly nuts by now. Ps, hope the place you move to has them! And glad you saw my comment about the stand mixer. When I saw you talking about the different texture between your pie and hers, I didn't want you to blame yourself or skills. You're doing the best you can with what you have!
Thanks Ashley! Usually by the end of these videos I have gone completely nuts. The mixer is coming!!
People walking by your apt must really enjoy your little happy dances when you have a success in the kitchen.
I love your shows, I just started watching recently and am so enjoying all of them, I binge watch a lot on weekends!!
You're so f#%king hilarious and entertaining! 🤣🤣
thanks Lee!!!!
Jamie: "you'll need less than one full recipe of brownie pie batter; bake the rest in cupcake molds... Okaaay..." flips off the recipe.
Me: I'd have flipped off the entirety of Milk Bar recipes about... six recipes ago. You're a better man than I am, Jamie.
Bruh. The dedication time and effort. Your resilience is astounding👏🏼 job well done!!!
"The ingredients store" 😀😀 I'm using this from now on 😄
Best almost fail & rescue EVER Jamie! Well done my friend, well done.
haha thanks Shanna!!
For future reference: Icing Sugar = Powdered Sugar = 10X Sugar. Great save, Jamie! 😊
Recently started watching your videos and this has to be my favorite cooking video on UA-cam. I love it!
When you flipped off the cookbook I felt that on a spiritual level. 🤣 Recently found your page and CAREFULLY binging (not too fast) your content. Thank you for the fantastic content. We laugh, we cry, we give the cookbooks the bird.
Yum. Looks awesome.
Great save! Love your job, Jamie!👍🏻
9:38 is how I feel sometimes with Milk Bar recipes. Like how the f*ck does that make sense? 🤣
I'm happy I'm not alone on that
It’s down from a chef’s perspective. While it may not make sense to the home baker, chefs will understand why.
But are they writing this for other chefs or the home cook? A good cookbook should be patronizing because this could be a home baker's first attempt and things need to be specific af. A bad cookbook is like an advanced course where you have to be "qualified to learn" (such as not feeling the need to grease a pie pan or not), force you to hop around the book and not have pictures. @@cwren79
I love your videos. You always make me laugh 😂
You have way more patients than I do. lnstead of graham crackers try Digestive or Oreo when your in a pickle. Much luck on your move.
yeah in Belgium we have speculoos cookies, I've used those in the past. This recipe specifically called for "graham crust", thats whats lead me down this dark path.
I laughed so hard! Best video I’ve seen! You saved it!
That was an impressive save!
2 years later... God bless the silver fox ❤
It took TWO YEARS for Jamie to FINALLY get a stand mixer?? Which video does it make its debut in?
Really nice save!
The milkbar recipes are definitely written and organized like crap. Same happened to me reading the recipe for their cornflake cookies I think it was, luckily I noticed it before trying to make it and screw it up.
Bruh, nice save. Great content as usual!
thanks so much Chris!!
It was an off day for me today.. Thank God your video saved me ✌️
I'm all up again.. 🙌
Tqsm ❤️
the best. love hearing that!
Great save.!!
A rescue op worthy of special forces !!
How do you not have more subscribers your so entertaining
Great job. You took a mess up and turned it into a dessert that looks so good. Could almost taste it through the screen. Now we have to wait to find out which country you are moving to lol i think back to Canada, hubby said somewhere else.
I don't want to reveal just yet!!
King of Pie
😂
I think the recipe messed up ...why have more than 8 steps on that page! 😉
Great rescue! Looks delish 💕
Graham crackers in Europe are called Digestive Biscuits!
They are super similar...probably gonna save me the trouble next time and just go with that
I am a Digestive afficianafo- it is close but is not the same. At.All.
Ps. I have worked in a professional kitchen- and I still didn’t read the recipe all the way through... needless to say, I no longer work in a professional kitchen 😂😂😂
Keep it up!!!! 💪🏽🤗
"Whitie Ford" mixer, so Toronto. Your mixer is so high it can do stiff peaks without plugging it in. LOL
The heat of the moment🤣
You can get an electrician to put on a new plug, there’s no mystery to different plugs.
I’d make this but with vanilla instead of peppermint as I hate mint chocolate. It looks great though
For following partial recipes, I'd stick a neon pink post-it right under the last step I'm supposed to complete. Works best on physical books, but it'll work on a laptop or tablet display as long as you're not zooming or flipping pages - for those, I'd open the ebook in a program that allows highlighting and block out the text I'm supposed to ignore.
Also the "you NEED a stand mixer" people are obviously wrong. A few things are easier or safer to make with a stand mixer (mainly stuff involving beating molten sugar into a mixture, like torrone), and it is convenient to have a machine knead doughs for you, but most baking is just fine with a hand mixer. They're a much bigger step up in terms of convenience (manual whisk to electric) compared to hand mixer to stand mixer, imo.
I love your videos
Thanks Bobbie!!!
Gordon Ramsey would approve! Great job once again
*Christina Tosi 😂
How did I miss this 🤣
You straight kamakazied it friend! 🤣😂🤣
This is so how many people cook and bake. Hahaha. Been there fine this!!
Hi anti chef. I'm anti too. Nice to meet you.
Looks good see if I find a place to buy one too much work... keep going
that's a wise decision
I just bought her book and now I’m scared !!!
❤
I think you need to get a bigger food processor lol! 🤣🤣
haha I need a lot of things
🤤
The Bukcake!
This was Legendary!!!
You should get a lifetime of free shit from Milk Bar!! 😂😂😂😂💕
Did you get married in the last week or so? The ring? The moving to new country.
If so, congrats!
I'm getting caught up with all my videos. I got married over Christmas, and now the ring is making it's way into the videos 😂
Subtítulos por favor 🙂
you have come so far grasshopper............don't ever get too perfect though, I love you just the way you are. mwah!
I pictured very bad things when you stuck that spatula into the blender. And I may or may not have rewinded that part a couple times. where u moving to next? Or returning home? Pie looks yummy!!
I had to edit out how long it actually took to find all those little pieces of plastic... I'm not returning home... this is someplace new!
Great job... I think you can use digestive biscuits instead of Graham crackers
in hindsight I probably should have just done that. I wanted to stick as closely to the recipe as possible!
Can‘t believe you made graham crackers only to smash it and make a crust. It would be easier to make the dough and line up the pie dish, at least that what I do.. Anyway, since you moved to the states no more worries about.
And that’s why we drink. Cooking near fails. Solid save dude
yes exactly! 🙌
Aren't Digestive crackers similar to Graham?
yeah I guess so. I find the taste different and the recipe called for "graham crust" so I took that literally. I've learned my lesson
So, the pie was Rode?
By the way, good work at saving the recipe. You came a long way from the early work.
Ur in belgium?
Are people's ovens really this clean on the inside?
and have a camera inside?
So moving back home?
Nope!!🙃
Just use digestives next time. Save you some stress of making the graham crackers from scratch
Just use digestive biscuits please!!
I actually felt bad for you in this one.
These mistakes that you're making help you become a better baker. Best way to learn is to fail.
You obviously made things work fine without a stand mixer. I really think they're over-rated.
Bake the pie shell first.
Why the fuck do people care whether he has a stand mixer or not? It's not any of the viewer's channel. If ppl want to watch a stand mixer at work, then they can go buy one of their own or watch someone else with one.
I’ve been watching your videos over two weeks and I swear, you never read the recipe... just read it before you work. Idk.
why does this have like 200 likes lol
Milk Bar recipes are poorly written. There. I said it.
Dude, why on earth did you make that awful pie? Great save, but that was wrong. I've made at least a dozen of these and that recipe was insane. Easiest way, make or buy graham crackers for crust, pistacheo pudding for filling, and garn however you like. Hope it tasted good , sure was entertaining; so funny!
That recipe was written out in a moronic way. She probably has some kind of weird self righteous attitude about her recipes & how they're written, but honestly, that could have been written in a MUCH easier & more basic way. Hopefully you were at least pleased with the results.
