- I don’t know what it is about SBS’ but I can’t help but love them. Got my hands on a shockwave and immediately filed a form 1.

I think an SBS is just one of those things everyone wants. I've got a non-NFA "Firearm" in 12 gauge that I enjoy.
They’re just so satisfying
How’s the vska holding what’s your take on it...you’ve ran 5,000k thru it looking good?
Pump or semi
Definitely. I’m looking to start a Benelli M4 breacher build. I’m definitely not a vet or even LE but having that much power in a small package seems super fun.
@@eliescobedo9711unless you have a $3000 AR and a couple nice pistols then spending 2k just to start a build on a shotgun that is not for hunting is crazy lol
I also Form 1'd my Shockwave, added a Magpul SGA stock, Surefire fore end light, and a Meprolight tritium front sight(screw in). Magpul sells a butt plate adapter (for the SGA), allows for Remington 870 butt pads, I put a Limbsaver on mine. I can shoot slugs off the bench with that pad, without the pain.
OMG…WOW!!! Just when I though Ive the best shockwave…I came across yours and you good sir…have the best shockwave vid on here!
That really looks surprisingly smooth to run. Really great video!
I’ve always had good luck with getting Mossbergs to run smooth. This one I did have to hand cycle quite a bit before it smoothed up.
I run the streamlight on all my shotguns and love it. Ran it through multiple classes and currently for duty use with no issues.
Glad to hear it!
Yes that's the best build I've seen yet
I have the same big dot on a 590a1 marinecote. Made it 100% more usable.
I have one myself. Such a good little bush gun.
Over our years of working with the Shockwave, we at OPSol Texas definitely agree with "the feel". If you care to, get one of our Flex Adapters and run some minishells. Probably Federals are the stoutest. Nice video, thank you.
Does your adapter work with the Nobel Sport Mini Buck shells? Those shells are 2 1/4" while the Aguila and Federal shells are 1 3/4". I lean towards the mid length 2 1/4" Mini Buck as they fit in shell holders and bandoliers much better, and oddly are easier to handle overall.
@@Hjerte_Verke Technically no. In my experience with them, they usually run okay without the adapter. If you have a need for "adaption", you can try cutting back the "flex" rubber a little at a time until they run. I have done this, but only for my personal interest......
GG&G makes a nice pic rail light mount for these. Installs at the end of the magazine tube.
thanks for the info about the magpul forend not fitting. I was about to make the exact same mistake myself
Hey man, I enjoy your videos. Appreciate your insight being a “regular guy” and not a former spec ops super hero. I love the looks of mossbergs NightStick model with wood. Practical wise I like the streamlight and maybe you can tap for a dot.
Thankfully the receiver is already tapped. I may mess around with a red dot on this thing at some point, but I like how slick it is now.
You probably shoot a taurus and have an olight on it
Nice! I keep threatening to SBS my braced 870 Tac-14 but haven’t gotten around to it yet!
Man, you have all types of people who can handle the Shockwave with the birds head grip. Woman US Marshall's use them all the time.
LMAO
There's a big booty woman who's got several videos on the shockwave here on UA-cam.
I filed on a Benelli M4 SBS and it's my favorite shottie by far.
Interesting. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an SBS’d M4
I was just coincidently looking at red dot mounts for Mossbergs and fount that Monstrum makes a $20 mounting plate that bolts to the pre tapped holes on the receiver so you can mount a RMR footprint red dot. A Holosun 507c circle dot might be pretty good for a shotgun.
I like your idea with the flashlight. I would mainly want to do that and either Vang Comp or Mag-Na-Port it especially if I ever put magnum turkey loads in the tube.
I put a Magpul forend on mine. It did take some mods but it wasn't that bad. I have a disability in my left hand so I really need a forward verticle grip, so putting the Magpul forend was nesessary, and of course it makes a great place for a light.
I have everything filled out and I was just waiting on my ATF fingerprint cards to finish my NFA paperwork to put the Magpul stock on instead of the dumb pistol brace.
I have a 590A1 with the Magpul stock and it is a great feeling stock.
I really like the Magpul forends. I had one on my 590A1 as well
You said something about stripping the paint off and add some wood furniture. I'm currently waiting for a 590 Shockwave and I'm thinking to do just that. I have (somewhere around my house) the wooden stock and pump that I took off from my 590 Retrograde. I do like the Magpul modern design, but at the same time I feel that some "classic look short barrel shotgun" is a must have in any shotgun collection. Keep that shorty beauty of yours as it is. But get another one and start a "Classic Shotgun 2023's project" 😉
I’ve been wanting to cut down my old 870 for years. I’ve just never done the paper work to actually do it. Great video I’m gonna go spend some money I guess lol.
Nice thing with 870s is usually shorter barrels are readily available.
Great video! Thank you!
I've been going through sbs phase also... I don't know why because I like an 18 inch "tactical" shotgun but they're really cool so I might have to give in one day... LOL Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!
I used to watch mrgunsngear’s SBS videos whenever I was feeling the urge. I’m glad I finally did it though.
I tune in every time my dude. One those views on each video is mine.
Us Oregon folks gotta represent.
I appreciate it
GG&G makes a Magpul forend they modified to work on the Mossberg shockwave.I too have went back and forth on a sbs haven't got one yet foresee it my near future.
GG&G has a Magpul pump handle that they have already modified to fit the Shockwave. FYI
Thank you, this was very informative. I recently brought this exact model home just over a month ago (after waiting 13.5 months for a tax stamp) and I am very happy with it minus one exception: it is difficult to find accessories for it because it is an SBS. For example, I purchased the Stream Light racker with the 1000 lumen light and was greatly disappointed because as you mentioned in your video, the racker is not a standard size because of the barrel length and therefore, does not fit. I am also having a very difficult time finding a full length rail system for this unit. Everything that I have found so far is made for an 18" or 20" barrel. I did however find an AR style stock with a buffer tube system that I installed which bolted on without any issues. (I've not tested it yet and I am hoping that it take more recoil out than expected...) Otherwise, it is a fun but punishing gun. If you have and manufacturers that make accessories specific to this SBS, I would greatly appreciate a few links.
Streamlight makes a Racker model specifically for the shockwave.
@@OreGear unfortunately that unit doesn't fit. the racker is too short. I know for a fact because it was a Christmas present and has already been returned... the Shockwave racker is longer by about 2 inches... Also, i don't own a shockwave, it's an M590A1 SBS.
Defender Tactical mini adaptor is a game changer
*Slugs "nearly always" have some sort of wad under or attached to the slug... Yes, SOME wads are under and NOT attached to the lead. Some Wads are attached to the slug, somehow. IF you are making more holes than your number of shots fired... The extra holes might be made by 'unattached' wads.*
Mossberg has a 590s model that cycles the 1 3/4" minis, 2 3/4", and 3". No adapter necessary. You can mix & match loads N/P
Just bought the 590s shockwave.. wish I could sbs modify it..lol
@@kevo875kThe $200 NFA tax is a good deal if you look at it as a fee authorizing you to pick any parts you want for your gun.
There’s no fee to buy or build a non-NFA firearm, but the ATF gets to decide which parts you’re allowed to install on it (and they occasionally change their minds).
@@AttentionDivision Though it’s also worth considering you can’t travel out of state with an NFA firearm without the ATFs permission given by individual location you want to travel to and only good for one year at a time.
So you can just pay the fee and make your gun a sbs?
Sweet shotgun
Nice 590 SBS sir I am looking to do the same soon
Good vid with one concern. The short shells are great however the shockwave needs an adaptor to shoot the short shells. Installed in the magazine well to properly feed from mag tube to barrel. Cheap and quick fix. Guys out of Lubbock Texas, I think? Now use 9 rounds instead of 3. I think that's the ratio? My shockwave/adaptor works well. First model adaptors came lose, not good. Next gen 2, like mine, worked well. Put some simple adhesive on it so it does not move. I cleaned everything good and applied contact cement both on the adaptor and mag well. Worked great, handled the vibration, dirt, etc. Easy to come off if you want to run full length shells. OPPPS... glad you covered the needed.
Peace from Texas
Look up defender tactical they are out of Texas they created a adapter that is permanent where u can shoot shorties to 3inch mixed together with no issues I have adapters for both of my shotguns and works flawlessly
I've got a 590M and just ordered a 14" kit for it... Might have to do a video of it on my other chanel. Personally don't like the sling stud on the end cap. I took it off and screwed it in from the inside of the cap.
Crimson trace solves the aiming issue with the raptor grip
Great video thank you
Great vid. What chest rig are you running? I like those flip out shell cards.
i really like the streamlight racker
GG&G actually sells a modified magpul one I think for around 50 60 bucks
Thanks
Shockwave industries makes a nice M-lok for end for that firearm. $14.99 on sale now!!!
10:22 totally agree with that. I don’t like having to adjust my grip to hit the release. I have relatively small hands and the Remington release in front of the trigger guard is uncomfortable for me.
What is this OD green reinforced softshell you have? I can't find those ANYWHERE
Just saw you video great...I my have one...I am looking for a plus one or zero with the retaining ring sling mount. I am not willing to put anything under the barrel nut....and maybe red dot some day...Help if you can Thanks
If you know a buddy who can run a lathe, I can give you the dimensions to thread it. I had my shockwave threaded for chokes. I reverse engineered the threads off my mossberg 500 28" barrel.
Does yours require a 6 o'clock hold? Mine does and I hate it which is why it has a red dot.
I have owned a shockwave for about 2 years now. I going to Form 1 it now also. Do you have any advice about the form 1 process? ? This will be my first experience with it and I’m not sure what I’m getting myself in to?…….
GG&G also sells the Magpul foreend that is already modified for the Mossy Shockwave. I just bought one for my Shockwave about a week ago. it is about 20 bucks more than the standard foreend but you can find it under their Mossberg Shockwave parts section. only comes in FDE, Blk, or Grey.
GG&G sells a Magpul forearm that is modified to fit the Shockwave.
i prefer the mossberg safety to the remington as well.
now that im on the hunt for a shockwave again i cant find one in 12g. no remington either.
really like your sbs setup!
The weird thing is the last batch of 12ga shockwaves we got where I work had 18.5” barrels. Kind of defeats the purpose.
@@OreGear wth? maybe thats why when i called one of my lgs they said they had a maverick 88 shockwave.
DONT JUST SLAP A BIRDS HEAD GRIP ON IT AND CALL IT A SHOCKWAVE
next im gonna see it on a 28in barrel lol
Smokey Mountain Guns and Ammo usually has them in stock.
Since you aren't using the front sling mount, I'd throw on a +1 mag tube extension... it's not much longer, you get an extra round, and it can be used as an improvised 'stand off' device. Just use a good, tough one like the S&J Hardware or another seamless steel piece. Awesome sbs.
Interesting. I hadn’t considered that. I’ll look into it
Also, there are some good flashlight mounts that are secured through the magazine tube cap. That's the easiest way to mount a streamlight imo
I really want one of these but with wood furniture
Thanks for watching, commenting and showing ❤️, you have been randomly selected among our monthly WINNER for Today hit me up Vai The Digits above 👆🆙⬆️ to claim Prize.
Subscribed for more sbs videos. very cool.
Makes me kind of want one.
Do it!
-Darth Sidious
Do you have a video on how you installed the stock ? And where did you buy it please
Does anyone know what shell holder he was using on his chest rig? Sweet setup!
Great video, can I get more info on the shell holder/chest rig you are running
It’s an Original SOE Gear Shotgun micro rig
Love your set up. I have tge Streamlight Racker. Bomb proof. Im interested in your sling adapter and sling. At least the name and links if possible.
SBS my shockwave waiting for the mossberg ghost rings to be in stock.
Wicked. I want one.
What was the overall length of it that you put on the form 1?
Love to see you test federal flitecontrol 00buck 8 pellet at 30 yards. 40 yards and 50 yards with your sbs😊
mossbergs only shotgun worth SBS beside the M3 entry 😩 the 18.5 500 XS persuaders /tactical are cqb 👑 no hand to face any LOP shooting from cqb/vehicles, just take the shell saddle off and side Velcro it, med.classic limbsaver slip fits wrap edges w/etape for dismounts, cut/ZipT 1/4 pipe insulation for the best cheek rest 😭works great on Sub2k buffer tubes but most importantly KEEP THE STRAP!!!!! Most fights hand/arm hits common it adds no weight works as a vertical grip if needed
I bought the Shockwave for a breaching tool. That and some bolt cutters. ;-)
This video is awesome, thanks man! I have a Remington 870 marine magnum and I love it. I’ve always wanted a 590 SBS though .. might have to cough up the extortion tax and buy one too.
I personally use a suppressed AR9 for HD, but I was thinking this would be a perfect riot gun for defending a storefront inside. Would definitely want some hearing pro though, this thing seems loud AF!
I'd love to SBS my Shockwave with a Magpul stock, but I can't stand the thought of paying $200.00 for a right that I believe is already mine. I'm not going to violate any laws, so my Shockwave remains in "out of the box" condition, sling mounts and Opsol adapter excepted. Those mini shells are great. Good video.
What's the chest rig set up @1:51
Where did you get that front sight
Very cool shotgun 👍
Thanks Rick!
How did you modify the front sight?
I found the magpul mod easy, took me an hour maybe. I think it's worth.
Did you buy your permit and then the stock?
I am interested in knowing your thoughts on the 590A1? I'm a fan from Canada and we don't have that paperwork approval process for putting a stock on a Shockwave; which is surprising in a way because we have a lot more process and paperwork for firearms ownership than you folks,
I have a 590A1 18.5 bbl. Wonder if 4 in. Really makes that much of a difference
Was wondering the same thing
I am getting one but putting a brace on it instead 🤠
What chest rig set up is that?
Good evening. Maybe you can help me I hope? I am in the middle of doing a Form 1 for a SBS. It is a Mossberg 590 Shockwave. My question is the overall length it asks for in description? This gan in stock form is currently 26.5, but of course I want to put a stock on it like your is in the video, or something similar. Its going to be longer overall length when I ad new butt stock. Any way you could help me with this? Thank you.
My overall length is 32”
@@OreGear Much appreciated my friend!
commenting for the logs
I think it"s worth it to form 1 590s shockwave, add some type of light mount, Optic mount or ghost ring , magpul stock, plus one(?), AND thread the barrel for chokes to get much better groups with mini shells. Ultimate truck gun and formidable hd weapon.
I think gg&g sells a modified magpul pump grip that fits the shockwave.
That’d be convenient!
Yes they do and it's only about 60 bucks. I just installed one on mine and works fine
I want an origin 12 sbs or the AOW version without the stock.
I have a question. I Have a shockwave. I'd love to put that Magpul stock on it without feeling out a form , is it illegal to have it in my home or just to take out and shoot at a range?
It is definitely illegal as soon as the stock is on it.
It is illegal to “possess “ it, to quote the statute. My form 1 approval took less than a week.
I have friends that work at Maverick Arms. I’ll be sure to see if they can speak to quality control to take care of the sharp edges.
Defender Tactical has a mini shell adapter that you don't need to remove to run both regular and mini shells
Have you used them? Do they work well?
@@OreGear I have it installed on my 18.5 590. Runs great no issues cycling at all. Runs mixed shells no issue
Beauty.
What is the jacket you are wearing at 2:19? Where did you get it and how much was it?
It’s a Russian Gorka I got from Grey Shop. Jacket and pants runs about $100.
@@OreGear thank you
GG&G sells a modded magpul forend just for that.
i get not wanting a pistol grip (tho the birds head is pretty comfy tbh) however u kinda made it boring with the regular stock. i wouldve put a folding stock at least tbh... just to keep it compact. it still looks cool tho. the streamlight pump will complete it for sure. idk i guess the classic stock does look pretty sick with the short barrel tbh
How long before you got your paperwork from the atf if you don’t mind me asking.
1:07
@@OreGear thanks
That would be a great camping gun for sure
Definitely
Under what circumstance would you want to hit the pump release while still in your firing grip? I can't even think of a malfunction drill. 10:33
Great video.
What front sight are you using here?
amzn.to/3SlFx90
U Need To Use Federal Flight Control Ammo For Ur SBS... U Also Need The Streamlight TL-RACKER 1000 Lumen Foregrip Light...
What brand receiver sling mount is that?
It’s the Magpul sling mount that goes between the receiver and stock
@@OreGear thanks man I’ve been trying to find out since you dropped the video 😅
I want to see that with a folding stock
What jacket are you wearing at the range?
This one is from Costco
What about threading it for chokes to tighten it up a bit?
I’m pretty happy with the patterning actually. Chokes usually don’t help buckshot anyway.
Was looking at choking my shorty as a critter getter, thought it would help since the pattern beyon 15 yards is trash
2:24 🔥
have the same setup but i mounted a red dot on it its fun to shoot until you get into high brass then the bastard punishes you i usualy put 20-30 shells of high brass before im packing it in for the day lol
Did you mount the crimson trace? Or another laser sight?
@@MrHeat1up i mounted a red dot optic no laser haha
All guns need a paint job. The black that most guns come from the factory is a primer layer basically. Ready for you to customize yourself. Black weapons stick out like a neon sign
GG&G light mount sling combo
Great video I think you got slightly shadow banned I have been subscribed for a while but haven’t seen video pop up and couldn’t find you under my subscribed channels even though in still subscribed
I have a shockwave and this is exactly what I intend to do to it
