Very cool video. Have you considered installing our OPSol Flex Adapter, so you can run minishells.? I think your recoil and shoulder concerns will be addressed, and the Federal mini buckshot rounds and slugs are no joke. We developed the adapter specifically for our wives and daughters, who were not "interested" in full length rounds and the recoil, 10 years ago.
When Mossberg introduced the Shockwave at Shot Show 2017, they did it with the recommendation of using our adapter. We pioneered both the ability to run minishells, as well as the idea that they have a legitimate role for home defense. We call the platform the 911 of home defense. 9 minishells (or Shortys, as Federal calls them), 1 adapter, 1 Mossberg Sbockwave.
Unlike other solutions offered recently, only the Flex Adapter actually transforms a regular 3" receiver into a 1.6" minishell receiver for all Mossberg 500 based shotguns.
Perhaps the perfect add ons for the 590 SBS?
I wonder what's making the recoil more violent. I've got a few 12ga pistols that if anything feel softer than full-length shotguns. A pump gun is essentially a bolt action with nothing to ease recoil. Were you using spicier ammo maybe?
Ehhh it was pretty basic field loads most of the time. It’s weird two because I had two other experience shooters give me their thoughts on it to and everyone agreed it’s kind of a bitch to shoot lol

I shoot clays with a similar set up all day. Hundreds of rounds at a time. Never thought it was too hard to handle. Im using a vintage wood stock on a shockwave night stick edition. Looks great and handles great.
Maybe try to pull with your left hand on the pump while you are shoudered. You will reduce recoil and as an additional plus the action will be fully to the rear upon the trigger pull. No more short strokes
Question, I just ordered one from Botach like you've described. It's a police trade in with orange furniture and very little description. It's said to be a 590 SBS which I can't find any research on at all I can only find the 590A1 SBS. This brings me the question does yours have the heavy walled barrel and metal trigger gaurd and safety like the 590A1 or is it plastic like the 590
So mine had the exact same orange stock when I bought it however I have the plastic trigger guard and standard profile barrel
For the price you paid, you could send the barrel to Vang Comp for $250 get their barrel work with porting and cut that recoil down

I love ported shotguns for the range. For defense a threaded barrel & suppressor
Maybe try a recoils pad on the back of the stock. Maybe a Limbsaver or a Kickease pad.
In this case I really might down the road 🤣

The Shockwave comes with a swivel on the cap, IDK about if you buy it with the stock though mine came with the Raptor grip of course
Ya this one being quite a bit older I don’t think they ever came with the swivel.
Thank you for this great video. I live in Canada and recently bought a 590s shockwave 14 inch.. I am considering to put a stock and looking at the SGA and the adjustable length ATI T3. Could you please tell me the total length of your gun with tge SGA stock? Also, I loved your sights and would like to know if these ones can be put on the shockwave 590s. Do you suggest any place to buy them from. I will be thankful to you for any guidance.😢
So at the moment from where I’m at I can’t measure the over all length but magpul should but the length of their SGA on their website and that can be added to the length of your shotgun. The sights unfortunately can’t be installed on a shock wave without some pretty good modifications to the gun. Thanks for the comment man!

Have you tried shooting 590a1 class iii? If yes, how's it comparing to your 590 sbs?

The popular belief suggests that due to the recoil of the short shotgun, our hand could ends up in front of the barrel and gets injured. Can you please explain how the hand, due to the recoil, could end up in front of the barrel faster than the bullet itself, causing it to hit our hand?
I always scratched my head on this one. Maybe if the sbs were a semi auto. But idk how going strapless is dangerous on one of these.

Limbsaver is a must they make one For Sga stocks loose one spacer the best cqb pumps were the old 18.5 500 persuader/tacticals ATi talon stocks, just take the shell caddy off Velcro it and limbsaver classic, any LOP 🚘💨🐌no pain/hand in face 🤣

Send it to Vang comp for there barrel porting? Problem solved? Maybe?
Porting a barrel would help a little with vertical muzzle jump, not that much with recoil, however, I've heard Vancomp can do work to the bore to help with recoil and tighten your patterns with buckshot. The price he got it for would leave some room in the budget for some custom work.

I completely agree i have a 590 set up the same way but with a red dot and no spacers in the stock but holy shit it kicks the piss out of you had a 870 with a 18inch barrel and its recoil will tall brass was nothing compared to this i can only put down 20-25 rounds of buck before im packing it in everyone i tell this thinks im bullshitting but im glad im not the only one with the same experience

I don't enjoy shooting my sbs either. I did one and I won't ever again. I agree it is painful to shoot so I don't enjoy it.

@@FirearmFreedom I wasn't a believer until I actually shot one at Gunsite during my Predeployment Workup in 2004. Met Hans Vang, he took my small group of Marine MP's out for dinner at the Mexican Restaurant across the street from his original shop in Chino Valley. It really makes a difference and I own three 870P's and a 590A1 all VCS'd.
Try a ported barrel and a Knoxx comp stock.

The 14 inch barrel is not heavy enough to over come the new balance point. Felt recoil will be worse until you use a push pull technique to manage the recoil. Switch to a 590 20 inch barrel and see if the felt recoil improves.
