  • This is my own take on making tuning a Hoyt a lot easier. This eliminates the need for a bow press once the original shims are removed. Something you can always have your dealer do when you pick up your bow.
    Here is a link to my website if you want to try them out.

    Awesome I wish you could ship to Canada. You are depriving the world of an amazing solution!

    Freakin genius! I have an Obsession FX30 with the worst cam lean which resulted in a hard right nock tear. It's been a beast of a process swapping out the shims to correct the issue. I wish I had this type of shim for my bow!

    The price is decent. Most folks would drag you over the coals for a kit like that.

    This works for Ventum Pro & VTM as well? Or only AlphaX & RX8?

      Only the alpha and RX8 for now. I have to make a different size because of the difference in limb width for the older bows. I will make one eventually. Just have to get my hands on one.

    How’s the shims holding up ? I’m seriously thinking about ordering them , my AX33 come pretty far out of tune can’t even shoot blazer vanes or tac driver vanes without rotating them , my riser blocks about a quarter of my sight housing too and nearest bow shops over a hour away

      So far no sign of wearing on them. They do not get any friction anyway because of the bearing.

    I think I would use these to tune my bow, its a great idea.. THEN , I would replace with the proper aluminum shims thickness similar to originals (but the exact thickness according to match yours) Long story short, I wouldn't want a part shim only staying in my bow. So use yours to tune and then replace with correct permanent shims

      the HOYT tuners though are to course. Most likely you would find yourself unable to duplicate tuning done with this kit.

      @@GrimstodDesh great point.
      My friend has a machine shop. I would make whatever is required , but full washers

      Prime uses a very slick aluminum C-shaped shim system that can only pop on or off when the axles are relaxed in a press. Super fine, accurate adjustments, very similar to the PSE system. So partial shims have been tested and they work fine when the pressure is back on the axles. Just a thought for ya!

    How do you know which sim to install? And do you install on both cams ?

    • @GrimstodDesh
      @GrimstodDesh  3 місяці тому +1

      There are detailed videos about how which ones to use and the normal hoyt system. Its similar. Shims have to equal 0.2in. Just like the hoyt shims

    But I still need a bow press to remove the originals and replace with yours. If I have a press already then I can do the work with the original system no problem. And I dont void a warranty.

    • @GrimstodDesh
      @GrimstodDesh  6 місяців тому

      So two things. One you can alway just have your dealer remove them when you pick up your bow.
      Second. The time you save using these vs the Hoyt system is worth the cost of the kit.
      Oh amd you get finer increments of tuning. The hoyt kit is so corse you find yourself between shims a lot.
      I don’t think you void your warranty because your not modifying the bow. Its no different the putting a site or another brand arrow quiver on the bow.

    It's not a pain at all to shim a Hoyt. Takes 5 mins and it will never move once set.

      Watch MFJJs video on tuning a Hoyt. It is 30 min long and at the end he still did not have it finished.

      As someone who has had a year’s worth of hell trying to get an RX-7 to tune, until my bow shop wants to throw my bow away, my opinion is that the Hoyt system is the most antiquated system for tuning cam lean on the market, and bow shop techs cringe when a customer asks to paper tune their Hoyt. Pulling the axles, shims dropping on the floor, too course of adjustments, it’s just beneath what in all other ways are the best engineered bows on the market. But that’s just my opinion after a year of grief, so take it for what’s its worth.🤣

    The easiest solution is to buy a bow that can be turned, after all they charge a arm and a leg for their bows and they can't even come up with a decent way to tune them.

    • @robertmiller6822
      @robertmiller6822 6 місяців тому +2

      I agree but I own about 23 bows so I just bought the hoyt x alpha 33 because I liked the look and specs, I do like elites systems and bowtechs but I already own those systems I wouldn't mind one of the new athens but drawlength isn't short enough I'd still rather a hoyt with adjustable drawlength and letoff than a mathews but this idea is simlar to pse's 220 shim systems

    • @GrimstodDesh
      @GrimstodDesh  6 місяців тому

      I wish bowtech made a tech riser. Then I would have gone that rout for sure. But alas ever one makes the risers the skinniest right were they need the most strength.

    • @douglasvaughn9530

      They can all be tuned if you know what you're doing. Very easy to shim a Hoyt.

      @@douglasvaughn9530it's easy if you're got a press, the tools that they sell separately, that they had to design due to the issues that people had who knew what they were doing.
      Most people haven't got a press nor the years of experience that's needed to attempt to use this system.

      @@GrimstodDeshwere abouts on the riser do they need to strengthened, and in your opinion what manufactors need to be beefed up the most and what are some of the issues that your likely to come across due to riser been to thin?
      Sorry for all the questions man, I'm trying to get as much unbiased information as I can due to been in the market for a new bow

  • @NMBowhntr

    Ok, two things. First, this is genius, why oh why didn’t big giant Hoyt come up with this idea themselves? Secondly, I hope you have this patented, and sell the rights to all bow manufactures, but at LEAST Hoyt and Mathew’s, who are both behind in tuning developments. But Hoyt is at the back of the pack for sure. Good luck with this, and do patent it, and call Hoyt. Please call Hoyt. My RX-7 has NEVER tuned!

      Since it bolts on NO. It's no different then putting a sight on your bow. Now changing your strings to another bran will do that.
